Dalton, Jr., our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother and best buddy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2005, at his home, with his pals, Max and Ginger at his side. He was 75 years old. He was born August 24, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to Guy and Helen Dalton. On February 21, 1953, Guy married the love of his life, Marie Ann Grunow. After many years of marriage they separated but he always referred to her as his "Lovely Wife". Guy proudly served with the US Army during the Korean War. On August 11, 1951 he was awarded the "Soldiers Medal" for heroism, for saving the lives of two Korean children and their mother. He worked for 37 years at DDO for the federal government, where he was a warehouse supervisor. Guy is survived by his big brother, Ormus G. (Effie) Dalton; his sis Helen Finn; his children, Cindy Kuni; Corey S. Dalton; Kelly Lynn (Paul) Briskey; wife, Marie Ann Dalton (separated); four grandchildren; two great-gr andchildren; and his best old buddies, Max, Ginger, and special friend, Brent R. Palmer. He was preceded in death by his dear old Mom and Dad and sister, Vera Dalton. Well, old friend and pal, your sudden passing has left a big void in our lives, "Till We Meet Again". Published in the Standard-Examiner on 1/30/2005. Eldred, Glen S. OGDEN - Cajun (Glen) Eldred, 59, of Ogden died Thursday, January 27, 2005. He was born March 20, 1946 in Ogden, a son of Farrand and Faye Pratt Eldred. On December 8, 1968, Glen married Emma Hymas in Reno, Nevada. They were later divorced. He was reared and educated in Ogden. He was a free spirit moving around before settling back in the Ogden area. Glen was an off-shore oil driller for many years. He was a member of the Free Riders Motorcycle Club in his later years. He loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and friends. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Sammy Eldred, Jacksonville, FL; Linda Ann (Mahaffey), Virginia Beach, VA; and three grandchildren, Cody Nicholas Eldred, Donald Carley Mahaffey Jr. and Heather Michelle Mahaffey. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. OGDEN - James Gordon Evans, 42, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at his home of brain cancer. He was born April 6, 1962 in Ft. Collins, Colorado, a son of William and Roslyn Mahoney Evans. On August 9, 1985, James married Melinda Mojwid in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1984 and pilots training in 1985. He settled in Ogden in 1992 where he lived for the past 12 years. James was a veteran of Desert Storm and flew in Panama in a K-135. He was an instructor pilot for the T-37 in Enid, Oklahoma. He was medically retired from the Air Force following eight years of service. James was a soccer coach, actively involved with his sons in the Boy Scouts of America, and he enjoyed volunteer work at his son's schools. He enjoyed home improvement projects, construction, and reading. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife Melinda, two sons Ty and Tanner, his father and ste pmother, Bill and Sherry, his stepmother Marlene, and two brothers Doug and Jerry. Preceding him in death were his mother Roslyn, and brother Scott. Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow at noon, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden. Gibbs, born May 22, 1924 to George W. and Thelma Butler Gibbs in Ogden, Utah, passed away Sunday evening January 23, 2005. He married his high school sweetheart Elaine Goddard in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity October 5, 1942. They were married for 62 wonderful years. George served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He will be greatly missed by not only his wife, but his daughters, Michele (Davis) Knight, Zana (Tom) Cox, Kelly Gibbs and his son, Randy (Paula) Gibbs. He was a loving grandfather and leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Pat Charlesworth. A viewing was held Friday, January 28, 2005 at Bunker's Garden Chapel, Mesa, Arizona. Published in the Standard-Examiner on 1/30/2005. Graham, Evan SOUTH OGDEN - Evan Graham, 81, returned to his Father in Heaven Wednesday, January 26, 2005 following a sudden stroke. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Evan was born July 13, 1923 in Fairview, Utah, to James Richard Graham and Ellen Eliza Checketts Graham. Evan spent his youth in Fairview and Mount Pleasant, Utah. He graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1942. Evan honorably served his country in the South Pacific during World War II. He loved serving his country and was a very patriotic man. After returning from the Army to Ogden, Utah, he met and married his beloved wife LaRene Hale in the Salt Lake Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity on June 9, 1947. Evan worked for Boyles Furniture for 30 years, and spent 38 years managing the North Star Drive-In Theatre. Family and friends loved the time they spent working by his side. Evan was a perfect example of an honest and hard working-man. He was always the first to lend a helping hand. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in numerous church callings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, LaRene, his son Mark (Pam) Graham, his daughter Annagay (Casey) Shorten, his sister Loa Armstrong, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Groseclose, Chester Acheson Circa 1937 Chester (Chet) Acheson Groseclose died at his home in Ogden, Utah, January 21, 2005. He was 93. Chet was born in Pierre, S.D. September 20, 1911, to Florence (Acheson) and Henry Groseclose, who homesteaded near Okobojo Creek in Sully County. Chet completed the first eight grades at country schools in Sully County, and after working on his parents' ranch, attended the School of Agriculture at South Dakota State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in Brookings, SD. He earned a high school diploma in 1932 from the Aggie School, where, according to his high school annual, he was known as "the Outlaw Kid." He was junior class president, a member of the debate team and an ROTC officer. He married Elva Everett of Pierre on December 1, 1934. Chet and three of his four brothers served in World War II. Chet was a radar operator on a Navy destroyer escort in the Pacific. Chet began his career with the Farm Security Administration (later known as t he Farmers Home Administration) in 1935. He served in Brookings, Salem, Britton, Winner, Ipswich and Huron. Many farmers said the credit Chet approved for them made it possible to continue farming. Late in his career, as a loaned employee to the Agency for International Development, he spent four years in Vietnam during the war, while Elva lived in Thailand. They furthered their interest in that part of the world by travel in Japan, Hong Kong and other Indochinese countries. Chet retired in 1973 after 38 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He and Elva moved to Scottsdale AZ. where they lived for 27 years. They moved to Ogden, UT in 2000. After 66 years of marriage, Elva died in 2001. Today Chet is happily reunited with her. Chet is survived by one son, Chet (Betsy Rice) Groseclose, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and a daughter Faye (Bruce) Berglund, of Cheyenne, WY, five grandchildren, six step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. Jackson, Dean B. 1949 - 2005 Dean Barney Jackson, 55, passed away January 22, 2005 in his sleep at his home in Wittmann, Arizona. He was born March 22, 1949 in Murray, Utah to Joseph Samuel and Veda Rae Barney Jackson. He married Teresa Hinkle. He worked as a Truck Scale Technician for Southwestern Scale. He served in the U.S. Army. Survivors: wife, Teresa, Wittmann, Arizona; daughter, Billie Kelsey (John), Sandy, Utah; sons, Jeremy Jackson and James Jackson, both Arizona; Joseph Jackson, U.S. Air Force; granddaughter, Breanna Kelsey; brothers and sister, Rafe, Glen, Arlo, Don, Iris Roberts. Maynard, Richard Thomas OGDEN - Richard Thomas Maynard, 61, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in Ogden due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born August 20, 1943 in Ogden, UT to Richard and Jayne (Price) Maynard. He attended Ogden schools. He married Barbara Ramsey in 1961. They later divorced. He married Marta Rich in 1972 in Ogden. They moved to Quincy, WA in 1975 where he worked in construction and hospital maintenance. He was an EMT for many years for Quincy. He later divorced and returned to Ogden in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, movies, trap shooting and books. He was active in the LDS church and held many callings, including scouting which he enjoyed with his sons. Richard was well known in his community. He took pride in his large and small constructions and hobby projects. Surviving is his mother, brothers, Dan (Maria), David (Mona) and sister, Sheryl Rasmussen all of Utah; three sons and one daughter, Shawn (Sharlene), Rick, Brian (Michell) all of Ogden ; Ritchey Sewell of Gilbert, AZ. He also has eight grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his father, Richard W. Maynard. Published in the Standard-Examiner on 1/30/2005. Pulido, Roger 1948 - 2005 OGDEN - Roger Pulido, age 56, died January 12, 2005, in Ogden, Utah. He was born October 5, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, son of Frances and Manuel Pulido. He grew up and resided in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College. He worked at Hercules, Inc., and then Hill Air Force Base until he retired. While there he became a Union Rep and helped many fellow employees. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. While serving in Germany, he became the 119 lb. 3rd armor division, boxing champion in 1969. Serious health problems marred his latter years to live life to its fullest. In the years prior to his illness, Roger enjoyed boxing and later became Boxing Coach at the Marshall White Center and started the Inner City Boxing Inc. He was a Golden Glove State Champion in the early 70's. In his early years he devoted his time to teaching young boys the art of boxing and helped to lure them away from joining stree t gangs. Roger was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He will always be remembered for his smile, love, and time for everyone. He was loved and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel, and one brother, Anastacio (Tacho). He is survived by his mother, Frances, Ogden; brothers Danny (Jeri), Layton, Richard, Ogden, Ernie (Connie), Roy, and sisters Cecilia Teeter (Kim), Ogden, and Antonia R. Treseder, North Ogden. Russo, Robert "Bob" MESQUITE - Robert "Bob" Russo, 69, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born March 8, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, to Ralph Edward and Vera Bingham Russo. He was raised in Riverdale, Utah, and graduated from Weber High School. On July 23, 1971, Bob married Relia Nanette "Nan" Hoover in Elko, Nevada. They were happily married for over 33 years. Bob worked as a firefighter for Ogden City for more than 20 years and retired as a captain. He and Nan owned and operated Russo 2-R Body and Paint in Ogden. He loved golfing, boating and gambling. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. He built and flew model airplanes and boats, giving most of the models to his grandchildren. Bob was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Nan, of Mesquite; six sons, Tony Wood, Ogden; Ed Russo, Plain City; Gordon (Sherrie) Wood, Bountiful; Eric Olsen, Ogden; Robert L. Russo, Las Vegas, Nevada; Trent A. Russo, Ogden; two daughters, Cindy (Lindy) Poll, Plain City; Pamela (Otis) Henderson, Clinton; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Russo, South Ogden. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Russo. Weaver, Helen Edena Smith Helen Edena Smith Weaver NORTH OGDEN, 85, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2005 at the home of her daughter. Helen was born on October 4, 1919, in Cedron, Idaho, to Albert Alvin Smith and Maud Ann Elizabeth Miller Smith. She graduated from Teton High School and L.D.S. Seminary in 1938. She completed her nurse's training at the Idaho Falls Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 and later completed an Obstetric Nursing post-graduate course at the University of Chicago Lying-in Hospital in May 1948. Rex E. Weaver married Helen on February 19, 1942, in Tacoma, Washington, while serving in the U.S. Army, WWII. Rex died in 1977. Rex and Helen built their home and resided in Ucon, Idaho, to raise their family. After her retirement, Helen moved from Idaho Falls to Farr West, Utah in 1993 to be with her family. Helen was a devoted obstetric nurse until her retirement in 1985 after 42 years. She practiced nursing in Idaho, Illinois, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, and Alaska. Knitting, crocheting, tatting, needlepoint, quilting, embroidery, and oil painting were her favorite hobbies. She was a master at needlework, oil painting, and generously gave to her family, friends, and neighbors. Temple work at the Idaho Falls and Ogden Temples were her great joy, and she valued her testimony of her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed quilt making for the L.D.S. Humanitarian Service. Her natural ability to serve others and make friends will long be remembered. Everyone who knew her loved her. Helen was what you would call a true friend. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Surviving Helen are her two sisters: ReNeen (Andy) Andrews and Crystal (David) Hillier; two children: DyAna (Dennis) Longhurst, North Ogden, UT; and Rick (Minnie) Weaver, Eagle River, AK; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
