Outnumbered approximately four or five to one, they fought this battle to a standstill by dark.Marching into battle were three sons of Utah. All were fallen by enemy fire that day, but only one would survive. Why fate chose myself as the one to survive and you to die God only knows. But one thing I do know as along as this body draws breath, every July 2nd of every year you will be remembered.Ted Van Meeteren 1st Battalion 9th Marines Published in the Standard-Examiner on 7/2/2005.
