Steve was an avid Jeeper, gun enthusiast, aviation buff, and private pilot. He was employed at Hill AFB, and previously at United Airlines for 15 years. He was father and friend to his daughter, Celia, and son, Troy; loving husband and soul mate to his wife, Mary. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. May, Robert Kelly Robert May OGDEN, UT - Robert Kelly May (Dan Kelly), passed away Saturday, July 16, 2005 at home after fighting cancer and emphysema. He was born December 9, 1945, to Joseph Robert and Josephine P. Scott May at Ogden, Utah. He grew up and worked on the family farm in Malad, ID. He went to work for the government after graduation from Malad in 1964. Later he worked in News and Radio for 18 years in Utah and Idaho where he had the opportunity to meet many celebrities. He also worked for Thiokol, the IRS and retired from Packard Bell NEC. His interests included music, reading, books, motorcycles and computers. He is survived by the love of his life Karen Harvath May, his mother Josephine May, Malad, ID; by his nine children, Monica Baker, Richmond, UT; Kelly Jr. May, Clarkston, UT; Wendy Garvin, San Diego, CA; Danton May, Wendover, UT; Jody Rioux, Layton, UT; Casey Butcher, Ogden, UT; Jessica May Anderson, Lindon, WA; Amanda May, Brigham, UT; Jacob May, Brigham, UT, and three step-child ren Eric Burgan, Rexburg, ID; Jennifer Lyons, Middleton, ID; Jessica Riley Middleton, ID; and 19 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Thornton, James Lawrence James Lawrence Thornton James Lawrence Thornton, born January 9, 1926 in El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2005 in Roseville, California. James was preceded in death by loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn Jean, and son Dennis L. Thornton (Madeline) of Ogden, Utah. James is survived by three children, Jackie Bedwell (Carl) of Rocklin; James R. Thornton (Sherry) of Morgan Hill; and Lorrie Kemp (Eric) of Roseville. "Grandpa Jim" was the loving grandfather of six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Prior to moving to Lincoln, Jim lived in Sunnyvale, where he was an avid golfer and enjoyed competing at Saratoga Country Club. Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Second Marine Division. During his career, Jim served as Vice President of the United Transportation Union, as well as General Chairman. His early career was spent as a Conductor/Brakeman on the Southern Pacific Railroad in Ogden, Utah, where he also served as the local union representative. Friends are invited to a celebration of Jim's life at an Open House on July 29, 2005, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Kilaga Springs Community Center, 1167 Sun City Blvd., at Lincoln Hills in Lincoln, California. Trease, Floyd Alma Floyd Alma Trease Early morning, Friday, July 15, 2005, Floyd Alma Trease, beloved husband, father and grandfather was called home. He was born July 14, 1927, in Honeyville, Utah, to John Wesley and Jessie Mertle Showalter Trease. He was the youngest of 14 children. Floyd attended school in Brigham City, Utah. He was one of the first five men drafted out of Utah for the Korean Conflict in 1950. On December 14, 1952, Floyd married the love of his life, Theda Jean (Jeana) Vansickle. They cherished each other and together they lived happily for 52 years. They had two sons. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 35 years, retiring in 1984. They moved to Clover, Idaho, July 24, 1987, after residing in West Point for 25 years. Floyd is survived by his wife; their sons, Tray (Lisa) Trease, North Ogden; John Trease (Evalia Boda) Hollister, Idaho; a brother, John Trease, Hooper; nine grandchildren, Sean (Jill) Trease, Logan; Ryan (Angie) Trease, Lance Trease, Andre Trease, and Broc k Trease, all of North Ogden; Charity Trease, Amanda (Scott) Jaynes, Matt (Amaris) Trease and Chans ( Karly) Trease, all of Twin Falls, Idaho. He is also the loving great-grandfather of ten great-grandchildren; also surviving are Zakery Housner and Justin and Jessica Boda; and the mother of his grandchildren, Rhonda Read, all of Twin Falls, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 12 brothers and sisters. Floyd was a kind and gentle man who found the greatest joys in the simple things. He loved and cherished each and every one of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When they smiled, he smiled and when they cried, he cried. He enjoyed fishing camping and hunting. He was a simple man with a heart of gold, who lived for others. He will be missed by all that had the privilege to know him. Our lives are better because he was a part of them. You will be always loved and forever missed. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 35 years, retiring in 1984. Willard, Mabel Anderson WILLARD - After an amazing 15-year battle with cancer, Mabel Anderson returned to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 16, 2005. Mabel was born April 6, 1916 to Robert Salmon and Ada Lluemma Wolf Calderwood. She graduated from Bear River High School. On November 29, 1933 she married Reed J. Anderson in the Logan Temple. He passed away in 1980. They made their home in Bothwell, Utah. Mabel was very active in church and community activities. She gladly served in many capacities including president, counselor, and teacher. She enjoyed writing poetry, music, skits and plays, playing golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends. In 1982 she moved to Willard. She was employed by Thiokol Corporation and retired in 1983 after 22 years of service. She was active in Daughters of Utah Pioneers, civic club, numerous book clubs and served as chairwoman of the Women's Republican Party. She is survived by her children, Dennis, Steven (Carolyn) and Roberta (Delond) Cole; Siste r Dorothy (Darwin) Gunnell; sisters-in-law Bessie Calderwood, Vera Smith, Emerine Anderson and brother-in-law Cleon (Myrtle) Anderson; 21 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Reed, parents, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Services will be held at Willard Peak Chapel on Wednesday, July 20th at 11 a.m. Viewing on Tuesday, July 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary 205 South 100 East Brigham City, Utah and again on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Willard Peak Chapel prior to services.
