Fecteau, Faith Margaret Korray Faith Margaret Korray Fecteau I can do it, she would say, I can do it, the identity never a question, I'm a New Yorker. It was a badge she wore with a forceful pride and sharp acerbic wit, one that guarded and guided her through any difficulties, misfortunes and sickness throughout her life. It was in New York on July 7, 1926 that she first met the world, it was in New York's clang and dazzle that she developed and honed her remarkable intellect and verve and it was in New York that she met her husband Albert Fecteau and began a life that would take her around the world. Literate beyond all reason, hers was a beautiful mind and an ever hopeful spirit, always believing, always aspiring. Never once did she surrender, never once did she stop hoping and searching for better; reading, thinking and always teaching. She accrued advanced collegiate degrees as a force of habit. Some stay-at-home mothers made cookies; we understood that ours did term papers, that is when she wasn't insisting that we read - something, anything. When her own children left home she resumed her teaching career, this time making remarkable differences in the lives of her special needs students just as she'd made a remarkable difference with her own children. She imbued her six children with the notion and hope that all was possible though hard work and education, teaching them all to read and think and always strive for better. Through her we all became New Yorkers and because of her we held the belief that we could do anything. On a warm sunny afternoon, July 24th, 2005, she left us with a Sunday NY Times on her lap and surrounded by those who loved her. We take comfort knowing that she is at peace, having returned to her first best place. She is survived by her six children; Francine, Vincent, Peter, Nicole, Alexis, and Francis and seven grandchildren and now joins her husband Albert who passed in 1999. She is sorely missed by all who knew her. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to Recovery, Inc. at 802 N. Dearborn Street, Chicago, Illinois 60610, or to Christian Children's Fund at 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, Virginia 23294 or online at www.christianchildrensfund.org, memorial donation category. Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Madeleine at 331 E. South Temple St., Salt Lake City at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 29. Family and friends may attend a celebration of her life, 4:00 p.m. Friday, following the services at her home. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Myers Mortuary in Layton. Send condolences to family at www.myers-mortuary.com Published in the Standard-Examiner on 7/27/2005.
