WILLARD - LaVon C. Blackwell, passed away at her home of a lingering illness on June 2, 2005. She was born April 18, 1928 a daughter of Ray and Priscilla Chidester. LaVon married Murray A. Blackwell August 25, 1962. He passed away February 7, 1999. LaVon's career was with the IRS where she retired in January 1962 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the LDS Church. LaVon enjoyed visiting with her family, gardening and crocheting. She loved crocheting different things for her family and friends. LaVon is survived by three sons; Ellis (Brenda) Blackwell, Ogden, UT; Cole (Rebkah) Blackwell, Omaha, NE; Ray Blackwell, Willard, UT; seven grandchildren; Rhiannon, Aundria, Megan, Caleb, Brett, Misty, Grant and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many extended relatives and friends. LaVon is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, all her brother and sisters. Christensen, Belva Andersen OGDEN - Belva Andersen Christensen passed away suddenly on June 1, 2005 at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. Belva was born in Brigham City on April 21, 1932 a daughter of Alonzo and Margaret (Bassett) Andersen. She married Norman B. Christensen July 2, 1952 in the Logan Temple. She graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City in 1950 and attended Weber State and Utah State University. She worked beside her husband, first in their Salt Lake City floral business, Norman's Floral Arts, and later in their San Francisco Store, The Greenhouse. Belva served in many church callings, from Relief Society President to Nursery Leader. She also taught early morning seminary in her former, Walnut Creek, California Ward. Children were her special interest. Belva is survived by her husband, Norman Christensen of Providence, Utah, her daughters, Lisa Christensen of Middletown, California and Cristina Christensen Lawrence and husband, Paul, of Kaysville, Utah, and her s even grandchildren, Melissa, Britton, Wyatt, Courtney, Sheridan, Ethan, and Christian. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Melvin and Patsy Andersen, Delpha and Steve Baird, Faye Jeppson, Ralph and Margaret Andersen, Vertis and Sandra Andersen, and Jean and Seth Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Carol Andersen, a niece, Mary Jeppson, a brother-in-law, Ralph Jeppson, and two nephews, James and Robert Jeppson. Dietrich, Rhonda K. RIVERDALE - Rhonda K. Dietrich, 59, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Monday, May 30, 2005 at Salt Lake Regional Hospital from complications of an automobile accident. She was born June 10, 1945 in Hollis, Oklahoma, a daughter of George R. and Redonda Maxine Martin Staton. Rhonda married Danny R. Olson in Hollis, Oklahoma. They were later divorced. On May 9, 1987, she married Neil A. Dietrich in Ogden. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Layton. She served as a Sunday School Teacher at Calvary Baptist Church and also loved to sing in the church choir. Rhonda enjoyed reading, cross stitching, sewing and making her own clothes. Surviving are her husband Neil, Riverdale; two sons and one step-daughter, Gregory D. (Stacy L.) Olson, Moore, OK; Brian K. (Amanda S.) Olson, Wilmington, NC; Alicia K. (Justin) Dietrich- Dahl, Springville, VA; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are her parents, one brother, Terry L. Staton, and one sister-in-law, Caryl Staton , all of Ogden; and her loyal dog, "Lucky". Preceding her in death was her brother, Gary D. Staton. He was a man whose greatest joys were those with his family. A simple man by worldly standards, he was an examle of patience, selflessness and pure love, who always had the ability to put others needs before his own. He is survived by his wife, June (Mills) Glazier, with whom he shared 25 glorious years. He is also survived by three daughters, one son and six grandchildren. Eugene "Gene" E OGDEN - Ernest Eugene "Gene" Gleason, 89, our cherished husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning, June 2, 2005. He was born February 14, 1916 in Tremonton, Utah to Pearl and Perry Gleason and enjoyed much of his youth in Garland and Ogden. His family later moved to Pasadena, California. After graduating from South Pasadena High School he went to work for Douglas Aircraft in California where he worked on a special project building Amelia Earhart's airplane. He was a veteran of World War II having enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 where he served in the South Pacific Theater as an Aviation Metal Smith, 1st Class, until he was honorably discharged in December 1945. After his military service Gene returned to California and married his sweetheart, Elizabeth A. Dreiser, in 1946 and in 1947 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. Gene spent most of his career working for the US Postal Service as a railroad p ostal worker from which he retired. He then went to work for Weber State University in Shipping/Receiving until retiring. He loved his work and fellow associates. Gene was a member of the Waterfall Canyon (41st) Ward for 36 years. Throughout his life he served in numerous positions including two home missions, scoutmaster, and greeter. He was also a dedicated home teacher. Gene made many friends everywhere he went with his fun loving spirit and quick sense of humor. His friendly smile opened many doors and hearts. It was a joy to just be around him. He enjoyed music, football, tennis, golf, camping and especially loved to travel. He enjoyed reading about history and was a great storyteller himself, however, his greatest love and joy was clearly his family. Surviving is his wife of Ogden; two sons and a daughter, Gregory E. (Marcia) Gleason, Boise, ID; Christine "Teena" (Jim) Larkin, Ogden; Steven L. (Gina) Gleason, Ogden; 11 grandchildren, two of whom are currently serving LDS Missions in foreign lands, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Dorothy Merkley, of Santa Rosa, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leslie and Ross Gleason. Prince, Mary Frances OGDEN - Mary Frances Prince, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, returned to the arms of her loving husband on 6/02/05 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on September 21st, 1923 in Memphis Tennessee, Mary was a true Southern Lady. Known simply as "Granny" to everyone, her focus was her family. She loved to cook, and for many years would have the entire family over for dinner every Sunday, usually followed by "heated" games of Canasta (which she usually won). Mary had two children: Helen Louise and Calop Jackson III from her first marriage. Later divorced, she married Thomas Lee Prince on May 7th, 1949 and again had two children: Linda (Lindy) S., and Michael Lee. She is survived by her four children, 20 grandchildren, a multitude of great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters (Madeline, Louise, and Evelyn) her parents (William Watty Back us / Elizabeth Lindsay McPherson), and one grandchild (Shannon Lynn). Pritchard, Veda Dona Veda Dona Pritchard PERRY - Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Veda Dona Pritchard, 86, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2005 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 8, 1918 in Elwood, Utah, a daughter of George Adolph and Ziffi Zina Field Reeves. Veda married William Milton Duke Pritchard on April 30, 1937 in Garland, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 29, 1964. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1996. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she taught primary for 12 years and was a visiting teacher. Veda liked to do quilting, ceramics, and painting, enjoyed bowling and was an excellent seamstress. Her greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. Surviving are seven children, Hattie (James) Rochell, Farr West; LaJuana Abbott, Morgan; Roberta Bywater, East Garland; Dorene Bear d, Brigham City; JoAnn (Dick) Monson, Plain City; Annette (Robert) Kay, East Tremonton; Terry (Joyce) Pritchard, South Willard; 37 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, one son-in-law, Max Bywater, one grandson, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, one brother and three sisters. She graduated from Brush High School in 1948 and was a foreign exchange student in Italy. She received her Bachelor's degree from Colorado State. She worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Tuba City, Arizona with Hopi and Navajo Indians; was a home demo agent for Mountain Fuel Supply in Salt Lake City and Ogden; and taught Home Economics at Davis High and Elementary Education in Davis County. She married Wallace B. Rampton on August 26, 1955; they have three daughters. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was loved by everyone and always tried to help others. Surviving are her husband, Wallace; daughters, Dorcas (Thomas) Stevens, Layton, UT, Jean (Max) Johnson, Logan, UT, and Janet (Frank) Mays of Stuttgart, Germany; a step-daughter, Alene Zufelt, Kohler, WI; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Laurence Ely, Brush, CO, Don Ely, Sheep Mountain Ranch, CO, and a sister, Doris Keefer, Denver, CO. Ransom, Clytie E. Anderson Clytie E. Anderson Ransom ROY - Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Clytie Elizabeth Anderson Ransom, 80, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the The Residence Care Source in Murray, Utah. As a result of a stroke, she had been living at Country Pines in Clinton, Utah for the past three years, where all who cared for her loved her. She was born on November 5, 1924 in McGill, Nevada, a daughter of LaVere C. and Clytie Leota Robb Anderson. She was reared in Elwood and graduated from Bear River High School along with her husband in 1942. Clytie married William Irving Ransom on March 6, 1946 in Elwood, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on April 15, 1968. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings. Clytie earned her nursing degree from the University of Utah in 1945. Her career included working in various hospitals, and working with physicians in obstetrics and surgery. She ended her career with Utah County Public Health as a school nurse administrator until she retired in 1992. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Altrusa Club and the Eagles. Clytie enjoyed painting, cleaning, reading, traveling and handiwork, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Clytie had a great sense of humor and was loved by all. Surviving is her husband, Irving of Roy; two daughters, Marti (Michael) Ransom-Andrew, Salt Lake City; Jill (Kit) Workman, West Point, three grandchildren, Candice (Niel) Ekberg, Lehi; Elder Kristopher Workman, Arizona Mesa Missions and Justin Workman; one brother, Neil C. (RaNae) Anderson, Elwood; two sister-in-laws, Wilma Anderson, Elwood; Joyce (Darrell) Loveland, Brigham City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Frank Anderson. Snow, Hugh Gordon Hugh Gordon Snow, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, 71, died June 3, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 21, 1933 in Fallon, NV to Sterling and Meda Snow. He married Ann Boll on February 7, 1956 in Logan, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. He attended Logan High and graduated from Utah State University in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 33 enjoyable years. He and Ann loved to go boating, backpacking, camping, motorcycle touring, fishing and traveling. He became an expert at his hobby of building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He and Ann have spent many enjoyable hours at their winter home in Overton, NV. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many positions. He will truly be missed by those he loved and those that love him; his wife, Ann; children, Annette (Brent) Wade, Linda (Seth) But terfield, Steven (Dixie) Snow, Holly (Curt Brown) Snow and brother, Sterling Elliott Snow of Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister and a grandson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Lorin Farr 5th Ward, 770 15th Street.
