She was born the second of eleven children, to Arleigh and Beulah Basford Satterlee in Kootenai, Idaho on October 22, 1925. Her childhood and younger years were spent in Sandpoint, Idaho and Forest Grove, Oregon. She became pen pals with Warren H. Andersen while he was in the Marines serving in the South Pacific. They were married in Forest Grove, Oregon on June 15, 1945. They later moved to Ogden and then Layton, Utah. She is survived by her husband and three children; Ken (Lynda) Andersen, Plain City; Pixie (Mark) Fotou, Layton; Donna (Kelly) Anderson, Park City. She is also survived by her seven sisters, three brothers and their spouses. She has six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Joyce was very loving and generous. Brian, Buellah Fern Cherry Buellah Brian SOUTH OGDEN - Buellah Fern Cherry Brian, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 3, 2005. She was born September 25, 1917 in Kamas, Utah, a daughter of Frank and Ada Richetts Cherry. She married Chase Brian on December 2, 1936 in Ogden; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1969. They lived the rest of their lives in South Ogden and were active members of the 38th Ward. Chase died August 27, 1987. She had attended grade school in Ogden, later moving to Idaho she attended Fishcreek School and Carey High School, graduating from Ogden High and attended Weber College. She served in the Primary, Beehive girls in Mutual, Work Director in Relief Society, Visiting teacher for 40 years, scouting, and as a Kitchen Supervisor in the Ogden Temple. She served as secretary to the Iris Society and belonged to many bowling leagues, literary clubs, and Spanish clubs. She was an ardent sports fan and loved all sports. Buellah was active in baseball and basketball in her younger years and loved the Jazz. Buellah's yard was her pride and joy. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and quilting with her dear friend Myrtle. She cherished dolls and has quite a collection. She had been employed at the Ogden Arsenal, Hill Field, Quinn Garment Factory, Frost market and the Ogden Temple (where she enjoyed her yearly Temple Luncheon). She loved people, loved her family, and especially the grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Delbert (Cherry) Jensen of North Ogden; one son, Daniel Brian of Roy, nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a beloved son, Frank G. Brian, mother and father, two sisters, one brother, Glen Cherry; two granddaughters, one great-grandson and one great-great-grandson. Cantrell, Sandra Lee Irwin Sandra Lee Irwin Cantrell died June 3, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada after losing a hard fought battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Dec. 7, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gorman and Phyllis Davies Irwin. She was the oldest of four children. She found and married her soul mate, Dale Cantrell in 1965 in Las Vegas, NV. They have one daughter, Lisa (Cam) Cantrell Williams of Flagstaff, Arizona. She graduated from Weber High in 1961. In 1963 she moved to Pomona, California and then moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1971 to the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Monte Jay Irwin. She is survived by two sisters, Robyn Irwin Scott and Karen Irwin McCain, both of Ogden; four nephews, Yancey, Casey, and Ryan Scott and Zac McCain. Carlson, Leland Tams Leland Tams Carlson OGDEN - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Leland Tams Carlson, 82, passed away Monday, June 6, 2005 at ManorCare Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brigham City, on November 18, 1922 to Charles Arthur and Martha Jane Carlson, the third child of five children. He grew up in Willard and graduated from Box Elder High School. Shortly after graduating, he joined the Navy. He was signalman 2nd class from Nov. 12, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on Nov. 1, 1945. Lee married Constance Marie Nelson on April 23, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 3 daughters. She died in December of 1966. Lee started his first donut shop in Peoria, Illinois after leaving the Navy. He opened Lee's Donut shop in Ogden over 50 years ago and was known as Mr. Donut, making the best donuts around. On April 28, 1967, he married Janice Hall Denison. She brought two little boys into their union. Lee and Janice had two more children toget her, making a family of seven children. They were sealed in the Logan Temple, June 12, 1971. He was a High Priest in the Lorin Farr 1st ward, having many callings throughout his life. Lee and Janice enjoyed many activities together, including golf, skiing, bowling, ball room dancing and square dancing with the Quarter Promenaders. They enjoyed traveling, creating many special memories with family and friends. Lee's passion was golf and throughout his life he had seven holes in one, including two when he was 79. Lee's belief was, "You've got to play as hard as you work" and instilled in his children the ability to take on any working challenges with confidence along with teaching them how to enjoy life. He was a great example to his family in teaching them to do their very best at whatever they tried. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Kathy (Keith) Harris, North Ogden; Terry Lea (Buz) Briggs, Nibley; Carol Ann (Harvey) Childress, Denison, Texas, Kevin Eugene (Staci) Deni son, Boise, ID; Dwayne Jay (Julie) Denison, Boise, ID; JanaLee (Sean) O'Brien, Salt Lake City, and Curtis Lee Carlson, Ogden. Lee and Janice have 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters, Ilene Jeppson, Beverly Packer and brother Boyce Carlson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don Carlson and a sister Ila Carlson and two great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Ernie Schneiter and all the people at the Riverside golf course where Lee had many wonderful games with his golf buddies. Our family also wants to thank the wonderful Alliance Hospice workers that helped them and Lee so much with a very special thanks to Becky, Carol and Marsha. With much gratitude in our hearts we thank Nichole and her staff in the Arcadia wing at ManorCare for the kind, loving care they gave Lee in the last months of his life. She was 90 years old. She was born July 28, 1914 in West Layton, Utah to Orson Mark Page and Annie Maria Parker. She married Lewis Floyd Carver June 30, 1941 in Walla Walla, Washington. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Floyd died September 6, 1969. Jessie attended Davis County schools and graduated from Davis High in 1933. She was a beloved wife, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a smile and hug for everyone. She was always serving others in her family, neighborhood and ward. She was a gracious hostess, and a wonderful cook, seamstress and homemaker. She was an excellent gardener and shared her vegetables and flowers. She loved all animals, family gatherings, and giving gifts to others. She was a kind and generous woman. Jessie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served in many callings. She had a strong testimony of the gospel which she passed on to her family through her words and her example. She served a Stake Temple Mission in Ogden for many years, and was active in genealogy research. Jessie lived in Layton and Kaysville for many years prior to moving to Manti and then Nephi. Jessie is survived by her daughter Lynda Thompson (Don), her grandchildren: Andrea Livingston (Ross), Chet Thompson (Jill), Garen Thompson (Charisty), and Chris Thompson (Jenny), great-grandchildren: Tanner, Rachel, Jacob, Hannah, Janna, Savanna and Gabriel. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, brothers Lawrence, Kenneth and Orion Page, sister Thelma Steed and a grandson Clint Thompson. He preceded her in death. Barbara was retired from the Civil Service. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Steven L.) Draney Weston; her son, Stephen Draney; and three grandchildren, Randi, Chase and Shayna Weston; all of Arizona. Graham, Mildred Mildred "Grammy" Graham OGDEN - We lost our loving Mother, Sister, and special "Grammy", Mildred Graham, on Friday, June 3, 2005. She was taken suddenly in an automobile accident. Mildred was born June 23, 1919 in Haswell, Colorado, to Roie Sires and Elmer James Palmer. She moved to Missouri as a child and was raised and educated in Independence, Missouri. She married Emerald Graham on September 9, 1939. They traveled to the west coast on their honeymoon and then settled in Utah. She was a loving and dedicated mother to five children: David (Claudia), Barbara (Dennis) Hess, Doug (Marjorie), and Nancy, all of Ogden; Duane "Toot" of Eagle River, Alaska; and to her granddaughter and our special "sister" Mary Kathryn (Craig) Steinmetz. She was "Grammy" to our children's friends and "Mom" to our spouses. Mildred was loved by everyone who met her and she spent her life in the service of others, always putting others' needs before her own. She retired from McKay-Dee Hospital Housekeeping Depar tment and from the Ogden City Schools where she served as a classroom assistant. "Grammy" loved all the little children and they in turn loved her. Her days after retirement were filled with visiting and assisting friends and family and in her church work. She especially loved traveling with her family. She was always ready and excited to go traveling any place and any time an opportunity arose. She loved life and lived it to its fullest. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Ogden and was an active member of the Church Board, always helping the elderly. She loved her Lord and her church friends. She was a woman of beautiful spirit and was one of God's special angels on earth who blessed many lives. In addition to her children, she is survived by one brother, John (Beverly) Palmer, Leawood, KS; grandchildren, Mary Kathryn (Craig) Steinmetz, Brett Hess, Jason (Sara) Hess, Alex and Ryan Graham, and Lori (Chris) Orr, and 10 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jantzen, Jaclyn, To ddy, Braxton, Brenna, Brooklyn, Bailey, Tylee, and Hayden. EUGENE, Oregon - Wayne Stephen Hanzlik, 55, of Eugene, Oregon, formerly of Ogden, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical Center in Washington Terrace, following an extended illness. Wayne was born September 7, 1949 in Ogden, a son of Joseph S. and Elizabeth Hanzlik. He was raised in Ogden where he attended the Ogden City Schools. He later served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Wayne attended the Weber County Mental Health facility on a daily basis where he made many loving and caring friends who held a special place in his heart. Surviving are four sisters and one brother: LaRee Rocco, and Susan Giles, both of Layton; Sheryl (Ken) Lendall, Roy; Dale (Penny) Hanzlik, Harrisville; Rhonda Nelson, Evanston, WY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and his nephew. Henderson, Mary Jane ROY - Mary Jane Hitson Henderson, 99, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the home of her sister's granddaughter surrounded by the family who loved her. She was born April 15, 1906 in Loango, Alabama, a daughter of Solomon Farmer Hitson and Bama Hutcheson. She married Bowden Henderson on March 1, 1946. She was raised and educated in Alabama and Georgia. She moved to Utah in 1990 to live with her sister Bobbie Thomas who lovingly cared for her for over 15 years. Mary spent much of her life caring for family and friends. Whenever someone was ill, she would be the one summoned to sit by a bedside offering comfort and love. She was a sweet lady, not one to complain, and whenever family came to visit she would always say, "You come back, hear." Mary had no children of her own, but she dearly loved her nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. She was especially fond of Sam and talked of him often. She was an avid reader and did so until she could no longer see even large print. She is survived by her sister, Bobbie (Jack) Thomas, of Roy; nephews, Jack (Charlie Ruth) Hitson, Al (Shirley) Hitson, of Georgia, Harry (Ethel) Hitson, of Florida, and Steve Thomas, of Ogden; nieces, Carolyn (Tony) Toscan, of Ogden, Patty (Wally) Wintle of West Haven, Debra (Jace) Holt, of Roy, and Jackie (Lon) Hanson, of NeeNah, Wisconsin. "Tre" was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, on September 4, 1964 to Joan Norton-Rannigan and Paul LeRoy Norton. In 1999 she came to Utah for our wedding and decided to move here to be closer to her Mommy and loving step-Dad, Martin A. Rannigan and her new family. Theresa worked for the IRS both in Brookhaven, New York and Ogden, Utah. She had many friends who will miss her laughter and caring nature. She is gone to be with her Grandma Jean and Grandpa Paul Balog and her beloved Aunt Lorraine Girace. She was reared and educated in Kaysville, Utah. She enjoyed planting in her garden, quilting, and spending time with her dog Tasha. Vera married the love of her life, Carter L. Roundy on July 23, 1934, in Layton, Utah. They were married 65 years before he passed away on January 18, 1999. Vera was an active member of the LDS Church. She worked for the American Can Company where she retired from after 30 years. She was President of the Ladies Auxiliary Eagles club, and volunteered her time at St. Benedicts Hospital, McKay Dee Hospital, and Weber Memorial Hospital for many years. She is survived by her four sons; Terry (Denice) Roundy, West Point, Kent Roundy, Roy, Don (Lorraine) Roundy, Riverdale, Rick (Sandy) Roundy, Farr West, one daughter, Yvonne Day, Roy, her sister Mary Alice Duncan, Clinton, 22 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter, two sons, one daughter, one brother, two sisters, one grandchild, Melissa, and one son in-law, Ronald J. Woolsey. Sandman, Harry (Arie) WASHINGTON TERRACE - Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Harry (Arie) Sandman, 92, passed away Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Crestwood Care Center. He was born January 4, 1913 on the Reeweg in Dordrecht, Netherlands to Albertus and Pleuntje Kraal Sandman. Arie received his education in the Netherlands and started working at the age of 15 as a part time electrician apprentice while finishing his education. He was employed at the Victoria Cookie and Chocolate Plant as chief electrician for 23 years in Dordrecht, and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1978 after 23 years of service as an electrician. Arie was married to Maria (Rie) Catharina van Hoek on March 11, 1937 in Dordrecht. Rie passed away December 28, 2002. He was a devoted husband to Rie and father to his two children, Al Sandman of Pleasant View and Maria (Ria) Toponce of Washington Terrace. In January of 1955 he and his family immigrated to the United States. He has lived in Ogden and Washington Terrace for the past 50 years. Arie was always a very hard worker, kept an immaculate yard, and he and Rie made their home a beautiful place to visit. He enjoyed going out to dinner and getting late night French fries. He and Rie loved to go fishing, camping, and taking trips with their children and grandchildren. In later years, he enjoyed sitting on the deck, admiring the flowers, and listening to his favorite birds. Arie loved to tell stories about the past to anyone who would listen. He has truly been a great example to his family in teaching them the importance of hard work and doing their very best. He is survived by his two children, Al (Linda) Sandman, Pleasant View; Maria Toponce, Washington Terrace; grandchildren, Tony (Sara) Sandman, Whittier, California; Derrick (Laurie) Sandman, Washington Terrace; Chris (Lynn) Housley, Liberty; Sarah (Bob) Huberty, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jon (Carmen) Sandman, Clearfield; Shane (Tricia) Toponce, Herriman; Brandon (Sara) Toponce, Riverdale; his great-grandchildren, Callum Sandman, Shaun and Brian Sandman, David (Amanda) Housley and Heather Housley, Megan and Travis Huberty, Shyla and Arie Sandman, Natalie, Hallie and Abbie Toponce, Eliza Toponce and his great-great-grandson, Taylor Housley. Schalbrack, Jean SOUTH OGDEN - Jean Johnston Schalbrack, 82, passed away Friday, June 3, 2005, at her home. She was born October 28, 1922, in Three Forks, Montana, to Halliday and Emma C. Hoyt Johnston. Jean graduated from nursing school at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Montana, after which she joined the Army. While serving in the Philippines during WW II she met her future husband, Andrew L. Schalbrack. They were married March 20, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1997. Jean and Andrew lived in many places around the world during their military service. She was an active member of the Washington Heights Baptist Church, where she had a heart for missionary work and helped spread the Gospel by supporting missionaries around the world. Jean volunteered her time at Ogden Regional Medical Center, Hospice of Yuma, reading to elementary children, visiting shut-ins, foster parenting, and quilting for missions. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cross-stitch, reading, and Bible study. Jean is survived by her children, James (Shelly) Schalbrack, Ogden; Mary Jean Kirchner, Springfield, VA; five grandchildren; a brother, Halliday (Thelma) Johnston, Denver, CO; and a sister, Myrtle Geisser, Townsend, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Dennis and a sister, Carol Biggs. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 10th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Heights Baptist Church, 1770 East 6200 South. Mont H SOUTH OGDEN - Hugh Mont Seeley, 88, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Friday, June 3, 2005 from complications of diabetes. Mont was born December 18, 1916 in Chester, Idaho, a son of Joseph and Blodwen Williams Seeley. He attended school in Idaho and graduated from Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Mont was formerly married to Barbara Thompson. They had two children, Scott and Sandra. They later divorced. He married LuDean Tucker Woodward in 1970 in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Nibley where Mont worked for Glenn's Electric until he retired. Mont and LuDean moved to Ogden in 1993 and enjoyed 15 years spending winter months living in St. George. They enjoyed their friends, activities, going on tours and traveling to see their children and grandchildren in several states. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous callings. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in Los Alamos, New Mexico as a Master Sergeant in the Cavalry. Mont loved riding and raising Arabian Horses. He also enjoyed doing woodworking projects that he shared with his family and friends over the years. Mont is survived by his wife, LuDean, of South Ogden; all of their children: Sandra (Bill) Pimentel, Pocatello, ID; Scott (Aimee) Seeley, Boise, ID; Kelly (Lisa) Wadsworth, Vancouver, WA; Dean (Carol) Woodward, Fridley, MN; Jim (Terry) Woodward, Colorado Springs, CO; Kathryn (Larry) Bittner, San Jose, CA; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Also surviving are his sisters and brothers, Wilma Owens, Beth Hathaway, Elmo, Max, Dwayne, and Lloyd, all of Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mont was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Our sincerest appreciation goes to the nursing staff and doctors who cared for him during the past month of hospitalization at McKay-D ee Hospital in Ogden. Wood, Teresa Hansine Selway Teresa Hansine Selway Hood LAYTON - Our beloved "wifie", mom, nana, sister, aunt, friend and godmother "Teri", 56, returned home to God and loved ones on Sat., June 4, 2005 at Davis North Hospital of pneumonia. Teri was born Oct. 23, 1948 in Dillon, MT to Jack T. and Betty Sue Crow Selway. Mom married the love of her life with those "big dark brown eyes", Ronald G. Hood, on April 13, 1968 at St. Paul's Lutheran in Ogden, UT. Mom and her children were baptized in the spring of 1978 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and mom and dad's marriage was blessed the same day. In 1967 she graduated from Hamilton High School in Columbus, OH. She is an intelligent and talented soul with a terrific sense of humor. Mom has a big warm heart and adored all of God's creatures and always found good in everyone - her love unconditional. Teri will watch over her husband, Ron Hood; daughter, Robin (Troy) Earl; son, Ronald M. (Bonnie) Hood; grandsons, Roger Earl and Justin Hood; granddaughter, Nicole C outurier; brothers, Ralph (Kathy) Selway and Tom Selway; a God-son; 4 nieces, 2 nephews; aunts, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, dear friends and her animals; preceded in death by both parents, grandparents and two uncles all of whom she loved deeply. Friends and family may call on Friday, June 10 from 1 - 2:30 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West, followed by a celebration of life officiated by her loving brother, Ralph.
