Jerald J. Bergera, MD., of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on May 24, 2005 at the age of 72. He was born to James Joseph and Grace Hreinson Bergera on March 3, 1933 in Helper, Utah, and married his wife Anne Burmester in 1956. Jerry studied pre-med at Stanford University and graduated in 1958 from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He was board-certified and practiced Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Ogden, Utah for 29 years. He retired from practice on November 1, 1993, and moved to Arizona. He was an active member of his community and was a past president of the Rotary Club of Ogden and a current member of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale, past president of the Stanford Club of Utah and current member of the Phoenix Stanford Chapter, and past chairman Ambassador Committee Ogden Area Chamber of Commerce. Jerry was on the board of directors for the American Red Cross (Bonneville Chapter), March of Dimes (Weber County), Ogden Are a Chamber of Commerce, Eccles Community Art Center, and the Saint Benedict's Hospital Foundation. He was also an active member of the Mountain View Presbyterian Church. Jerald is survived by his wife Anne; son James Joseph and his wife Alice Cho; brother Clifford and his wife Janet Bergera, and one grandson, Luc. A Memorial Service was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8050 E. Mountain View Rd., Scottsdale. PLEASANT VIEW - Delmar "Dell" Lawrence Blechert, 76, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born January 31, 1929 in Ogden, a son of Emil L. and Mary Geneva "Jean" Mead Blechert. Dell married Evelyn Maudie Bruner and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up in Montpelier, Idaho and later moved to Ogden where he owned and operated Dell's Auto Sales for many years, retiring in 1987. Dell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pleasant View 1st Ward. He was a volunteer firefighter, involved in Little League, a clown in the parades and he loved the outdoors - farming, hunting and fishing. Dell loved spending time with his family and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of his family. Surviving are his wife of Pleasant View; six children, Deborah L. Blecher t, Lockhart, TX; Roger D. (Julie) Blechert, Wellsville; Brett J. Blechert, and Jon Douglas (Brenda) Blechert, both of Farr West; Jolette J. (Larry) Larsen, Chandler, AZ; Chad L. (Beth) Blechert, Mobile, AL; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Evelyn (DeWayne) Swa, Montpelier, ID; Joyce (Arden) Windley, Lakewood, CO; Georgia (Deane) Kingsford, Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ford, James Greenhalgh James Greenhalgh Ford, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in Casa Grande, Arizona. He was born June 8, 1927 in Kanab, Utah the son of Zadok James and Hannah Greenhalgh Ford. He married Thelma Baker in Long Beach, California on August 2, 1953. She preceded him in death on August 17, 1984. James retired from the U.S.A.F. serving his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Surviving are his two daughters, Virginia (Kerry) Hansen, Salt Lake City; Brenda Fenton, Clearfield; three sisters, Pat (John) McCleary, Arlyn (Tony) Rowe, Sandra (LaVon) Ring, three brothers, Jerry (Colleen) Ford, Ronald (Nancy) Ford and Blair (Dorsey) Ford; grandchildren Jeremy (Jolie) Johnson, Ashlee Hendry and Billee Edgington; great grandchildren William Hendry and Taylor Johnson. Garfield, LaVon Brough TREMONTON - LaVon Brough Garfield life long resident of Tremonton, Utah passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2005. LaVon was born December 21, 1912 a daughter of Raymond Gilbert and Edna Allred Brough. She married Jesse H. Garfield May 2, 1928 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple September 27, 1939. Jesse passed away April 18, 1997. LaVon worked in several Tremonton businesses including Giffords Men Store, Safeway Market, Palmer's Jewelry and Men's Store and Miller's Jewelry. LaVon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including counselor in the Mutal and Relief Society as well as Relief Society President and a Visiting Teacher for 72 years. LaVon and Jesse also served as Temple workers in the Logan Temple. She was a member of the Civic Club and Booklore Club. LaVon was always known for her beautiful yard and the many, many hours of compassionate service. She is surviv ed by her three children, Klea Fae Wright of Moses Lake, Washington, Don (Trudy) Garfield of Garden City, Utah and Deanna (Bob) Arbon of North Logan, Utah. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and she carried their pictures everywhere. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Fern Horsley of St. George. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Francis Hill, Dona Bowcutt and a brother, Clarence (Curley) Brough, a son-in-law, Jack Wright, one grandson and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2005 at noon in the Deweyville Ward Chapel. Smith, Leatha Wheeler SUNSET - Leatha Wheeler Smith, 99, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton, Utah. She was born May 9, 1906 in Lewiston, Utah, the daughter of Simon and Jane Mills Wheeler. Leatha married Orval Joseph Smith on August 24, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he passed away September 25, 1967. She was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her lifetime she was privileged to serve in all of the organizations of the church and was a temple worker for 22 years. Her hobbies included ceramics, quilting and handiwork. She loved to travel, but the light of her life was her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her two daughters, Charlyne (Grant) Wise, Sunset, UT and Tamara Kelly of West Valley City, UT; ten grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a daughter, Myrna Smith, and son-in-law, Daniel L. Kelly; four brothers and three sisters. Strate, Syble OGDEN - Syble Irene Strate, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at the Heritage Park Care Center. She was born December 20, 1916, in San Antonio, Texas, to George C. and Mable Irene Wright Baer. On July 4, 1942, Syble married Thomas "Red" Ray Strate, in Seguin, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1995. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Syble loved her family, her dogs and bowling. She is survived by her sons, George H. (LaVora) Strate, Pahrump, NV; Christopher G. (Susie) Strate, West Point, UT; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Syble was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her only sister, Lucile Brown. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff and caretakers at Heritage Park Care Center. Wagner OGDEN - One of God's favorite children has returned home. Geraldine Lu Wagner, 57, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at her home in Ogden. She was born August 15, 1947 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Jerry and Maxine Hammond McGuire. On May 22, 1965, Gerri married Robert William Wagner. She was a lifelong resident of Ogden and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gerri was a member of the El Monte Golf Association and enjoyed golfing, camping, playing softball, and spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband of Ogden; one favorite son and one favorite daughter, Brett (Christy) Wagner, North Ogden; Becky (Bryan) MacKenzie, Eden; and seven grandchildren, Bo, Braiden, Brittley, Branson, Rhett, Cody and Krystin. Also surviving are her mother of Ogden; four brothers and two sisters, Patrick Coy (Mary Ellen) McGuire, Ogden; Kelly (Allison) McGuire, Hooper; Kurt (Carrie) McGuire, Roy; Cass (Karen) McGuire, Ogden; Teresa (Leon) Be dford, and Connie Dickerson, both of Ogden. She was preceded in death by her father, sister Sandra Kay, brother-in-law Fred, and her father and mother-in-law, Heinie and Blanch Wagner.
