HOOPER - Joseph W. Allen, age 79, passed away on June 11, 2005, after a long illness. He was born on September 16, 1925 in Holladay, Utah to Fred R. and Florence Woods Allen. He married his sweetheart Florence Parker on August 1, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. Joe honorably served his country in the United States Air Force in World War II completing 25 missions as a tail gunner in a B-17, with the 15th Air Force 301 Bomb Group, stationed in Foggia, Italy. Joe attended and graduated from Ogden High School in 1944. He received a Bachelor's and Master's of Education degree from the University of Utah and his love of education led to other post-graduate studies at Utah State and BYU. He was a teacher and principal in Weber County Schools for 38 years. He was the Hooper Notary Public for 30 years. He was a charter member of the Hooper Lion's Club and served as chairman of several celebrations. He has been involved in scouting for a lifetime and served as Scout Master, committee chairman, and a Merit Badge councilor. Joe's testimony reflected his love of the Savior and his fellow man. He always gave to those in need and he truly loved and cared for those he met, even unto the end. He is a member of the LDS Church and has served faithfully in many positions, including Ward clerk, Executive secretary, councilor in Lakeview Stake mission presidency, a High Councilman in Hooper Stake, Bishop's councilor, Bishop, and a dear home teacher. He and his wife served an LDS mission to Guyana, South America, a Hooper Stake mission, and were Ordinance workers for the Ogden Temple for nine years. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Florence and children, JoLene (Jerry) Park, Jim P. (Janette) Allen, Drue (Greg) Randall all of Hooper, Gayle (Mike) Kelley of Ogden; Foster children, Etta (Tom) Thompson, New Mexico, Amedee (Karen) Sanchez, Seattle, WA; his sister, Virginia (Don) Widdison of Hooper; 19 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, his traveling buddies, the Johnsons, P ages, the Gang from Hooper, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerald R. Allen, a brother, Fred R. Allen Jr., and his parents. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper 8th Ward, 5601 S. 6100 W. with Bishop Jon Peterson officiating. Bruen, Elizabeth Kap Smith 08/07/31 - 06/12/05 OGDEN - Elizabeth Bruen, 73, died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at a local nursing home of causes incident to age. She was born on August 7, 1931 in Ogden to Jerry and Marie Kap. She married Fred H. Smith on August 13, 1949 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. Fred died on January 11, 1965. Elizabeth then married Charles E. Bruen, III on July 3, 1970. She worked at DDO and IRS for 25 years. She retired in 1992, relocating to Island Park, ID. She enjoyed camping, reading, crocheting, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held various teaching positions in the church as well as being active in the cub scout program. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Bruen and her children and grandchildren, Dale Smith and family, Robert Smith and family, Karen Garcia and family, Craig Smith and family, Chuck Bruen and family, Mark Bruen and family, Curtis Bruen and family. He was born on July 7, 1919 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Jule Combe, Sr. and Beatrice Laura Parker. He graduated in the first graduating class of Ogden High School. He married Margaret Farley, she preceded him in death, On December 7, 1962 he married Gloria Glauser in Ogden. Jule served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as a scout leader and is an elder. Jule worked as a sheet metal mechanic and worked for Superior Air Handling for 40 plus years, as one of their best men. He was a hard worker and worked from sun-up to sundown. He could fix anything or build anything. He was a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and traveling. He loved his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three sons and five daughters, Suzanne Combe, Eatonville, WA; Lynda (Tom) Cox, O gden; Michael (Debee) Combe, Tremonton; Dawn (Brent) Doxey, Ogden; Ronald (Shawna) Blackhurst, Salt Lake City; Sharon (Phil) Judd, Ogden; Becky (Mark) Murray, Hyde Park, UT; Jeffrey Blackhurst, Ogden; 32 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters; Jack Combe, Pleasant View; Duane (Mary Lou) Combe, Ogden; Maxine Thompson, West Jordan; Clarean Ricketts, Washington Terrace; Carol (Ralph) Wiggins, Roy and Pat (Ronald) Van Alfen, Ogden. GEORGE, Utah - Lee Marion Hansen, 72, passed away June 12, 2005 in St. George, Utah. He was born November 30, 1932 to Alfred Henry Hansen and Lydia Sophia Hindberg in Corinne, Utah. He married Ruth Carol Mann on July 22, 1955 in Garland, Utah and their marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple on December 14, 1956. Lee was a Korean War veteran and served his country from July 1952 to May 1954. His years of employment included working at Swifts, farming and 34 years at Thiokol. He served as Scout and Explorer Leader in the Ward and Stake. He was a devout member of the LDS Church and was an Elders Quorum President and Executive Secretary. Lee loved working in his yard and had a lawn that was envied by all. He inherited his fathers passion for woodworking and took great pleasure in it. He also enjoyed playing the washtub base with his brothers, Wes, Vern and Dee in the "Sharecroppers" band. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Carol Lee (Kevin) Parrish, Mesquite, NV, Sally (John) Higley, Perry, UT, Lisa (Thom) Payne, Phelan, California, Darrel (Lisa) Hansen, Las Vegas, NV, Linda (Ross) Deters, Grand Junction, CO, and Mitzi (Eric) Mahler, Pickerington, OH; 32 grandchildren; and 17-1/2 great-grandchildren. Lemmon, Maxine Harrison Maxine Harrison Lemmon ROY - Maxine Lemmon was born in Grantsville, Utah on December 28, 1917 and she died peacefully with her children at her bedside, Saturday, June 11, 2005. Her life was centered around her faith, family and "bringing dessert". Her effervescence and enthusiasm were greatly treasured and she was always the life of the party. Maxine had a special way of making each loved one feel like her favorite. Mobley OGDEN - Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Beulah Beatrice Brown Mobley, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Waycross, GA. She was 91. She was born September 12, 1913 in No. Platte, Nebraska, a daughter of Walter E. and Forest Addy Brown. She married John Mobley on August 24, 1933 in Farmington, UT. He passed away July 7, 1992. Beulah worked beside her husband in their business at Allied Metals for many years. At the time of her retirement she spent many hours as a volunteer at St. Benedict's Hospital. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, from coast to coast. Beulah is survived by four daughters, Peggy Powers, Lincoln, CA: Elaine Mathias, So. Ogden, UT; Jackie (Stanford) Herrin, Waycross, GA and Gloria (James) Webster, Millbrook, AL. 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren. Montoya, Edward Lee OGDEN - Edward (Ed) Lee Montoya, 47, our beloved son, brother and father passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 11, 2005. Ed was born June 27, 1957 in Ogden, UT to Modesto Edward and Carmen Archuletta Montoya. He attended Ogden City Schools graduating from Ogden High School in 1975. Ed married Olga Castillo on September 8, 1976 in Ogden. They were later divorced. He is survived by his children, Antoine (Ursela) Montoya of Wishram, WA, Nicholas (Jennifer) Montoya of Roy, Sergio Montoya of Roy, Adrianna Jon of Ogden and Isiah Montoya of Ogden; his mother, Carmen Montoya of Ogden his father, Modesto Edward (Judy) Montoya of Pleasant View; brothers and sisters, Albert (Kelly) Montoya of South Weber, Anna (Jaime) Guzman of Ogden Nancy Wright of Marysville CA; and Duane Montoya of Ogden; four grandchildren, Alexxis, Samuel, Alex and Xavier. Smith, Donald Thorpe Donald Thorpe Smith OGDEN - Our loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, Donald Thorpe Smith, passed away from this life on Sunday, June 12, 2005. Don was born August 10, 1914 in Wellsville, Utah to Parley Kilfoyle Smith and Vida Brenchley Thorpe. He married Marguerite Pearce on October 5, 1938 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. Don worked as a teenager thinning beets to help support his family and siblings. He began cutting hair at a very young age and then graduated from barber school and barbered for approximately 70 years. He enjoyed baseball, hunting and fly-fishing. Later in life he and Marguerite enjoyed many wonderful days golfing. Dad had an exceptional ability to relate to young children. It seems that all young children were drawn to him and he loved every moment of it. He served in the Logan 3rd Ward as assistant scout master and also served in the branch presidency at the Sunshine Terrace. Surviving are one son and two daughters, Larry Don Smith (Karyl) of Famington, Carolyn Brunson (Barry) of Ogden and Jolene Stillson ( Frank) of Worland, Wyoming; also a brother, Morris Smith of Logan and a sister, Ivy Jean Kohler of Pleasant View. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite, four brothers and one sister, as well as one son, Douglas Pearce Smith and one grandson, Mark Smith. Don has seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Thompson, Gerald Leo Gerald Leo (Jerry) Thompson Surrounded by his family, Gerald Leo (Jerry) Thompson passed away Thursday, June 9, 2005, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. His service to the community, his business, and his church, leave a legacy of accomplishments and gratitude from those who knew him. Jerry was born May 14, 1936, in Brigham City, Utah, to Erland and Blache Thompson. He attended schools in Brigham City and Tremonton, Utah, where he graduated from Bear River High School in 1954. He loved to recall happy memories of high school sports, working on a dry farm and being "Most Preferred Man." He attended Weber Jr. College and Utah State University and served a mission in South Australia for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Ann Richards from Midvale, Utah on September 13, 1961. They have five children and eight grandchildren. Following graduate school, Jerry served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He and Ann then m oved to Concord, CA where Jerry continued to work in the airline industry. When a business opportunity became available, they moved to Hanford, where Jerry has been a partner at Bacome Insurance for 32 years. He loved his employees and his customers. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jerry has served as a Bishop, Stake President, Mission President, Regional Representative and as a member of the Fresno Temple Presidency. His most recent church calling, his favorite, was that of teaching Gospel Doctrine. Jerry loved the Lord and followed His teachings throughout his life. Jerry is survived by his wife, Ann, their three sons, Kirk, and his wife, Kristi, of Rockville, MD, Eric, of Hanford, Jim and his wife, Chantal, of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Kristine and her husband Michael Hawkins of Issaquah, WA, Teresa and her husband, Scott Taylor of Hanford; Grandchildren, Candice, Kevin, and Ava Marie Thompson, Justin, Cameron, and Ryan Hawkins, Jake and Dane Taylor; a si ster, Janet, and her husband, Rodney Larsen of St. George, UT, along with numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. OGDEN - Brandon G. Thurber, 24, passed away Friday, June 10, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born December 7, 1980 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Alan Kay and Lynnette Gibson Thurber. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1999. On May 3, 2002 he married his sweetheart, Shambree McFarland in the Bountiful L.D.S. Temple. He was a member of the West Weber 3rd Ward. He served in the California Anaheim Mission. He loved to ride his bike and passed away doing what he loved. He had his concealed weapons instructors license and enjoyed teaching. He also enjoyed working on his grandfather's farm and was happiest when he was busy working. Brandon had his own lawn care business, Grass Blades. He loved life to the fullest and lived life in the fast lane. He is survived by his wife, Shambree; his parents, Alan and Lynnette Thurber of West Weber; in-laws, Jeff and Lori Lewis of North Ogden and Richard and Jenifer McFarland of West Haven. He is also survived by one brothe r and three sisters, Casey Ryan (Alice) Thurber, Camilla (Michael) Adams, Jennie (Tyson) Smith, Elizabeth Thurber and four nieces and one on the way, whom he loved very much. He was born on the 20th of November 1946 in Kenilworth, Utah to Stanley Tucker and Barbara Florence Perkins Tucker. He married Bridget Jane Howe on the 16th of June 1979 in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized on the 21st of May 1983 in the Ogden Temple. He graduated from Carlin High School. He joined the US Navy Military at the age of 18 and served on the USS Hopewell from 1965 to 1969. His highest rank was STG3 and he served two terms in Vietnam. He worked as a Warehouseman at Battle Mountain Gold for 15 years and retired in 1985. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father, brothers, and anybody else he could get to go with him. He was a member of the Olalla Ward LDS Church. He is survived by: wife Bridget of Olalla, Washington; mother Barbara Tucker of Pleasant View, Utah; brother Stanley Tucker of Joyce, Washington; sister Candace (Rodney) Brown of South Ogden, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley and his brothers Bobby, Rodney, and Jimmy Tucker. Funeral services will be held in Port Orchard, Washington on the 15th of June 2005 at 4 p.m. in the LDS Church on Mullenix Road. Graveside services will be held on Saturday the 18th of June 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Carlin Cemetery in Carlin, Nevada.
