He was born to James Francis and Katie Barwick Brown on November 11, 1922, in Afton, Wyoming and moved to Clearfield in 1924. He graduated from Davis High School in 1941 and served six years in the U.S. Naval Aviation Branch. He was a decorated combat aircrew member who was medically discharged due to injuries received during the WW II European-African Campaign. He married Ora Mary Kirkman on December 8, 1946, in Evanston, WY; and later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked at Hill Air Force Base from 1946 until his retirement in 1977. He then spent 19 years (19,000 plus hours) volunteering at the Davis Hospital. He participated in various organizations in the LDS church; serving faithfully as an Explorer Leader, Home Teacher, Stake Missionary, and Temple Worker. His interests included hunting, fishing, volleyball (All-Star player on All Stake and All Church Teams), and camping with his family. He is survived by his wife Ora, Clearfield, UT; his children and their spouses Dennis (Linda) Brown, Ogden, UT; Linda Brown, Clearfield, UT; David (Michele) Brown, Colorado Springs, CO; Carol (Michael) Thurgood, Syracuse, UT; Coleen (Ron) Russell, Morgan, UT; Joleen (Doug) Kearsley, Morgan, UT; Dwaine (Ginette) Brown, Sumner, WA; Mitchell Brown, a grandson he raised from birth, Clearfield, UT; his brother, Donald (Rita) Brown. He has 29 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, one grandson, and two great-granddaughters. Calcut, Charlotte Jean Morgan Charlotte Jean Morgan Calcut 1926 to 2005 Charlotte Jean Morgan Calcut passed away on June 15, 2005 in Ogden, Utah, surrounded by her family. Jean was born on May 19, 1926 in Lincoln Park, Michigan to Richard Morgan and Amelia Rienas. She married Earl S. Calcut in January 18, 1944 and together they had four sons and three daughters. Jean was always happiest tending children and working in her garden. Jean is survived by her husband Earl; sons: Dave, Devin (Chris), Dean (Lisa) and Darin (Jennifer); daughters: Diane (Richard) Stiefken, Donna (Stan) Edwards and Dawn (Jim) Flynn; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and sisters: Joyce and June; and brothers: Jim, Ed and Dick. WASHINGTON TERRACE - The Patriarch of our family, Robert E. Davies, 85, is now joyously reunited with those that have passed before him. He began his next journey, Wednesday, June 15, 2005. He was born May 7, 1920 in Anaconda, Montana, the oldest child of Samuel Parry Davies and Luella Evans Davies. Upon the passing of his mother Luella, he was raised by his angelic grandmother Mary Parry Davies. Robert was blessed to have been married to two beautiful women. Phyllis Reed became his first companion on May 29, 1942 in The Salt Lake Temple and the mother of their eight children. She passed away August 12, 1971. He then married Allene Hadley Fowers on January 14, 1972. Together they served a mission to the Michigan Lansing Mission, became temple officiators in the Ogden Temple and served a second mission in the LDS Employment Office in Ogden. Currently he was serving as Patriarch of the Washington Terrace West Stake. Robert started working for Marquardt Corporation 1959 and retired from Williams Intentional in 1985. He was an accomplished machinist, handyman perfecti, and scriptorian. He received his greatest joy and fulfillment from his family and faith. Reading, studying the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and gardening were his other passions. He is survived by his loving wife Allene Hadley Davies of Washington Terrace, four sons and three daughters. Vicky Booth of Salt Lake City; Robert (Dixie) Davies of Hooper; Alan (Mary) Davies of Lehi; Tim Davies of Layton; Joni Barrichoa of Syracuse; Tana (Clark) Jenkins of Plain City; Arthur Davies of Honeyville; two stepchildren Lynene (John) Walkenhorst of West Jordan and Reed (Darla) Fowers of Harrisville; 41 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Also he leaves a brother Sammy (Joyce) Davies of Anaconda, Montana. Robert is preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis, a daughter Kay Marie, a daughter-in-law Julie Fowers and a sister Mary Alice Roberts. Liechty, Joseph LeRoy Joseph LeRoy Liechty OGDEN - Joseph L. Liechty died at home Tuesday morning, June 14, 2005 from leukemia, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Nampa, Idaho on February 15, 1927, the son of John Phillip Liechty and Coral Allen Liechty. He graduated from Nampa Senior High School in 1945 with high honors. He was a 4-year letterman in football. Captain and quarterback his senior year, also Student Body President, Band President and cartoonist for his high school's yearbook. He excelled in all sports including basketball and baseball. During WW II, on his 18th birthday he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy. Upon his discharge as Seaman First Class he married his life long friend and high school sweetheart, Bonnie Lewis on October 26, 1946 in Boise, Idaho. He attended Boise Junior College, Weber College and studied with noted local artists at the Ogden Art Institute. He continually studied with nationally acclaimed artists at workshops and seminars throughou t his 30-year career as a graphic artist and technical illustrator in the aerospace industry with Thiokol and Hill Air Force Base. He was an honor graduate from the U.S. Air Force Training Command courses at Sheppard Air Force Base (1969). He also continued to paint in fine arts and his work has appeared in various exhibits in the intermountain area, and he has works in both corporate and private collections. One of his oils depicts an F-16 airplane over the Northern Wasatch mountains, entitled Coming Home and it hangs in the Air Force Museum at Roy, Utah. One of his greatest joys was teaching art classes at the Ogden Golden Hour Center. He was a member of the River Parkway Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a tender, compassionate giant of a man. His family was the center of his life and he thoroughly enjoyed camping, fishing, kayaking and golf with his sons and grandsons. His broad interests included the opera, symphonies and ballet. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie and their adored three sons, Mark Lewis Liechty (Kathleen), Michael John Liechty (Jeanne) of Fruit Heights and Matthew Scott Liechty (Anna) of Chandler, AZ. The light of his life in his later years were his grandsons, Christopher John Liechty and Joshua Joseph Liechty of Ogden and Joseph Alexander Liechty of Chandler, AZ, Jessica, Karma and Andrew of Salem, OR and one sister, Ella Rae Otten of Salem, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Lloyd and Grace Lewis. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Vincent L. Hansen, M.D., the Oncology staff and the Infusion Lab technicians of McKay-Dee Hospital and the tender loving care of Julie Lee of IHC Hospice. He was born September 3, 1915 in Taylor, Utah a son of Parley and Sarah Marriott. LeRoy married Grace Eliza (Hill) Coupler on September 15, 1940 in Farmington, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Rhineland and the Battle of Bastogne. After serving in the Army he worked as an Item Manager at Hill Air Force Base. He retired in 1978 after 36 years of service. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and traveling. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Grace; one brother Harold E. Marriott, Maderia, CA; brother-in-law, Robert T. Hill, Layton; three sisters Ella Barrett, Della East, both of North Ogden; and Zelma (Ernest) Bouwhis, Roy. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law. Rees, Elizabeth Elizabeth (Beth) Rees passed away June 14, 2005 at Peach Tree Assisted Living in West Haven, Utah just a short time before her 101st birthday. She was born on July 20, 1904 in Birmingham, Alabama. After attending college she taught school in Puerto Rico. After Puerto Rico, she moved to Washington D.C. where she met her future husband William Rees who was attending law school. They were married November 1928 in Rockville, Maryland. Their first daughter (Betty) was born there. While in Washington D.C. she worked in the National Library of Congress. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia where their daughter Helen was born. They moved to Malad, Idaho in 1940 where they had a herford cattle ranch. Bill became ill and they then moved to Ogden, Utah in 1955. Bill died in 1958. Beth worked at Dugway Proving Grounds, Hill AFB, and the Ogden Library while helping raise six grandchildren. After the grandchildren left she started pursuing her life long ambition of travel and toure d many countries and floated many white water rivers. She was an active member of the Sierra Club and had an absolute passion for hiking wilderness trails with her Collie (Laddie). She celebrated her 80th birthday by hiking with some of her friends to the top of Ben Lomond Peak behind Ogden. Beth loved hiking the mountain trails and managed to keep hiking until almost 90. The mountains of Utah were Beth's first love. Beth had two daughters Betty (deceased) and Helen. Betty married Brian Kent and had six children. Helen married William Ray and they had three children. She has nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Sierra Club or The Ogden Nature Center. We would like to thank the staffs at Peach Tree Assisted Living and Legacy Hospice for all their consideration and help during Beth's final time on this earth. Scott, Jiammia Neal MALAD, Idaho - Jiammia Neal Scott, 90, longtime Stone, Idaho resident and wife of the late Walter A. Scott, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday June 15, 2005. She was born November 28, 1914 in Delmore (Stone) Idaho, a daughter of William Job and Maria Bradshaw Neal. She grew up and was educated in Stone and other than a short time in Oregon and Utah had lived there all her life. She married Walter Albert Scott on March 22, 1933 in the Logan LDS Temple. For many years Jiammia helped her husband on the farm, while also raising her family of seven children. Walter passed away on September 26, 1996. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in various callings through the years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and especially loved caring for and spending time with her family. Jiammia is survived by her children ; W. Neal (Annette) Scott of Idaho Falls; Brent Scott; Lenna Roe and Karen Cutler, all of Stone; Myrna St okes of Plymouth, Utah; Eunice (Francisco) Robles of Pocatello. 37 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. one brother; George ( Peggy) Neal of Stone; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; a daughter; Janice Durfee; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Thornock, Concepcion Tiamson Concepcion Tiamson Thornock July 7 1919 - October 6, 2004 Born in Manila to Pelagio and Emerenciana Tiamson. She married Harold C. Thornock on December 1, 1945 in Manila and returned with him in 1947 to Ogden. She was a 1936 graduate of the Secnit Fashion School and enjoyed a career in and out of the home as a gifted dressmaker and seamstress. She moved to Seattle in 1962 where she worked in the alterations department of Frederick and Nelson for many years before retiring and moving to Eugene Oregon. After losing her husband in 2000, she returned to Washington to live with her daughter in Auburn until her passing. She was blessed with many talents, which through the years, were used to bless the lives of her family, friends and strangers. She was a woman of unwavering faith and strength, a wonderful wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; two children, Harold T. and Elizabeth; and grandson Matt. She is survived by four children: Carmen Claric of Eugene; John of Des Moines; Jim and Marge of Columbus Grove, Ohio; and Helen of Auburn. Also surviving are two sisters: Aurora (Auring) Gamboa and Carmen (Naty) Tiamson; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws, all of whom will miss her so very much. A graveside memorial will be held June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, after which time she will be laid to rest next to her eternal companion.
