She was born March 6, 1943 in Mount Pleasant, Utah to Donna Graham and Mack Terkelson. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Forbes, Ila Ada (Flint) Ila Ada Flint Forbes (Grandma Great) LAYTON - Ila Ada Flint Forbes, age 98, our loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father Friday, June 24, 2005. Ila was born December 19, 1906 in West Point, Utah, a daughter of John Frederick and Eliza Webster Flint. She lived 22 years in West Point and 76 years in Layton, Utah. She married Elmer J. Forbes, December 19, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in May of 1965. Elmer preceded her in death May 31, 1981. She was a member of the Layton 1st LDS Ward, currently the Kimball Ward. She served as a Primary Teacher, a Sunday School Teacher, and a Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She worked at Hill Air Force Base for one year, the Navy Supply Depot for two years and retired from the Davis County School Lunch Program after 18 years. Her interests were genealogy, crocheting, and reading. She was a big Utah Jazz fa n with her Jazz buddy Peggy. She attended her last game at age 98. She was also a wonderful cook. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving, concerned Grandma who always wanted the best for her children and family. Surviving are four daughters; Blanche (Cecil) Kirk of Layton, Erma Adams of Farr West, Joyce (Don) Gunderson of Clearfield, JoAnn (Stan) Pollett of Layton, one daughter-in-law Shorty Oralee Forbes, 19 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 53 years, Elmer, a son, Junior Forbes, a grandson, Rick Adams, and three great-grandchildren, Shailee Adams, Kirstee Adams, and Cody McColloch; four brothers and six sisters, Manita Suiter, Mae King, Sylvie Adams, Lillie Stoddard, Lavon Flint, Myrtle Kirkman, John Flint, Wilford Flint, Clifford Flint, and Golden Flint. Franks, Zell Barney (Anderson) Zell Barney Anderson FranksOur dear mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother passed away June 23, 2005. Zell was born May 21, 1921 in Joseph, Utah to Joshua and Della Barney. She was the third of 14 children. Zell married Lyndon L. Anderson, they were later divorced. She married Clarence R. Franks on December 31, 1942 in Richfield, Utah. Zell is survived by her children Ten (Annette) Anderson, Brigham City, Clair Richard Franks (Sandy) St. George, Utah, Suzanne Heiner (Roger) Ogden, Alan J. Franks (Sandi) Orem, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Gladys Curtis, American Fork, Madge Snow, Portland, Oregon, and one brother Boyd Barney, San Bernardino, California. Zell lived in many places in Utah including Richfield, Corinne, St. George and Ogden. Zell was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Lyndon and Clarence. Her siblings Melvin Barney, Harold Barney, Leona Larson Dorthella Pollett, LaRay Barney, Ida Smith, Norma G reen, Garth Barney, Dale Barney, and Derell Barney. Zell loved her family and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed cooking, crochet, country music, reading and flowers. Johnston BRIGHAM CITY - Wilma Elaine Schwartz Johnston, 80, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2005 at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She was born on April 23, 1925 in Merriman, Nebraska, a daughter of Charles and Estella Henderson Schwartz. Wilma married Stuart Edward Johnston on June 28, 1945 at St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral in Denver, Colorado. They were married for 58 years before Stuart preceded her in death on December 23, 2003. Wilma is survived by four children, Vicki Lynn (Bob) Lowery, Brigham City; Valerie Jo Robinson, Durham, NC; Charles Stuart (Barbara) Johnston, Belvidere, Illinois; Leslie Elaine (Lance) Gamble, Salt Lake City; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Harold Schwartz. She was a life time member of Episcopal Church. She held several positions in the church and was a founding member of St. Phillip & St. James, St. Nicholas in Denver, Colorado and St. Michael's in Brigham City. W ilma had a successful career. She retired in 1993 from the aerospace industry after 30 years of working at Thiokol and Martin-Marrietta. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was proud of her heritage and was a registered member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Wilma loved to dance and in her own words she was a hell of a gal. Mota 12/3/1955 - 6/24/2005 Maria Mota died on June 24, 2005 at her home from breast cancer. She was born on December 3, 1955 in Weslaco, Texas to Rafael and Maria Ana Sepulveda. She married Guillermo Mota on October 24, 1973. Her hobbies were gardening, oil painting, crotchet, scrap booking, sewing, and collecting Barbies. She was always thinking of others first; she was strong till the end. She is survived by her parents; her loving husband and three daughters, Rebecca Gutierrez, Veronica (Hedthel) Corleto, and Sonya Lopez; brothers and sisters Anna (Morris) Sanchez, Selma (Tommy) Vigil, Silvia (Tom) Chacon, Manuel (Patricia) Sepulveda, Rafael Jr. Sepulveda, Tom Sepulveda, Rene Sepulveda, Fred (Lesa) Sepulveda, and Edward Sepulveda; and by her six grandchildren Leecette, Damian, Valencia, Diego, Sarahi, and Lexus. Petajan, Jack Hougen Jack Hougen Petajan, M.D., Ph.D. 04/02/1930 - 06/22/2005 Jack H. Petajan, 75, died June 22, 2005, Salt Lake City after a valiant three year struggle with treatment effects secondary to gall bladder cancer. Jack was born April 2, 1930 in Evanston, Illinois to John and Ruth Hougen Petajan. Married Ruth Neve, July 16, 1951, they were married 27 years. Married Mary Eve Sanford, April 7, 1979. Graduated Johns Hopkins University 1953, Biology. In 1959 graduated University of Wisconsin, MD and PhD in physiology. Neurology Residency, University of Wisconsin. Fellowships Mayo Clinic and Brain Research Institute, Zurich, Switzerland. Assistant Professor, Neurology and Physiology, University of Wisconsin. Chief of Physiology, Section of Arctic Health Research Laboratory and US Public Health Service, College, Alaska. Came to Salt Lake City in 1969 to the SLC Veterans Administration Medical Center and University of Utah School of Medicine, where he continued teaching, research, and clinical act ivity in neuromuscular diagnosis and treatment, along with pioneering work in Multiple Sclerosis. He was widely recognized as a world class clinician, diagnostician, and neuromuscular researcher. He was considered an outstanding teacher and mentor. He was loved and respected by countless medical students, residents, and patients throughout the United States. Jack served on innumerable committees, locally, nationally, and internationally. He was a founding member and President of the American Academy of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis, served on the National Board of Directors, Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Foundation, to name a few. He was the recipient of over 20 research grants addressing a wide range of topics, reflecting his extraordinary intellectual curiosity, including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, the physiology of central fatigue in these illnesses, among others. He published and contribut ed to over 100 professional articles, abstracts, papers, and book chapters. Jack's extraordinary gifts to the world as a physician reflected his compassion and humanity which stemmed partially from life threatening illnesses all of his life. Jack's passion for music led him to perform as an expert musician in string groups throughout his life. With Eve, he sang for 15 years in the Utah Symphony Choir and 5 years in Pro Musica Chamber Choir. Jack was an accomplished athlete; with his second wife Eve and numerous family and friends enjoyed sailing, skiing, running, golf, fishing, and travel. Jack is survived by his wife, Eve, four children, Eric (Cori), Anne (Dan) Chisholm, Amy (Glenn) McMinn, Bo David, and five grandchildren Dave, Joe, Alisha, John, and Peter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country. His last surviving brother is Albert (Sylvia) Petajan, Kewaunee, Wisconsin. Jack was deeply aware of and appreciated the numerous sacrifices from his family througho ut his life and career. The family extends special thanks for the loving care provided by the staffs of Huntsman Cancer Center, University Medical Center, LTAC Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, and Woodland Park Care Center. Numerous friends who offered support and love in his last year are deeply appreciated. Peterson, Weston "Wes" Weston Wes Peterson OGDEN - Weston Merlin Peterson, 45, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005, at McKay-Dee Hospital after a prolonged illness. Wes was born March 30, 1960 in Ogden, Utah, to Merlin J. and Percia White Peterson. He married Lisa (Davis) McDill on Dec 10, 1983 in the Ogden LDS Temple. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Weber State University. He later earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Wes served an LDS mission in Seoul, Korea, returning twice more with his wife. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many positions including ward and stake clerk. Wes was an Ogden City Police officer for more than 20 years, retiring in 2002 as a Sergeant. One of his favorite assignments was that of Chief Crisis Negotiator for the Ogden-Metro S.W.A.T. team. After his retirement he worked for the Department of Homeland Security, was the Director of the Webe r County Children's Justice Center and taught as an adjunct professor at Weber State University. He also had a tax preparation business known as Peterson and Associates. He enjoyed working with the Boy's State Program through Weber State University. He will be remembered for his quick wit and ability to turn any situation into a comedic moment. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing with his dog, Max. Wes is survived by his loving wife, Lisa G. Peterson; their daughter Natashia McDill (Sammie Brown); and three grandchildren, D.J., Robby, and Breauna. He is also survived by his mother Percia, father Merlin, and sister Maureen J. Peterson. Also surviving is their foreign-exchange student (daughter), Hisayo Hirayama and family. Wes was preceded in death by his sister Anita J. Peterson. Reid, Barbara Joyce OGDEN - Barbara Joyce Reid, 64, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2005 at her home. She was born May 30, 1941, in Idaho, to Joseph Owen and Doris Johnson King. On July 4, 1964, Barbara married Thomas W. Reid in Elko, Nevada, they later divorced. She attended Davis High School. Before moving to Ogden she lived in Tacoma, Washington for 35 years. Barbara accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 51. From that time forward she devoted her life to learning God's Word. Her devotion to Christ was instrumental in many others receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The Lord blessed her with a gift of creating a warm and beautiful home. Her love of cooking inspired two more generations. Barbara is survived by her children, Rick (Donna) Reid, Enumclaw, WA; Collette (Kevin) Parkinson, Las Vegas, NV; and Tamara (Troy) Bucy, Portland, OR; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Brent (Judi) King, Enumclaw, WA: Donald (Connie) King, Ogden; and two sisters, Shirl ey Linnen, Ogden; and Susan (Brad) Clawson, Ogden. Stimpson After 20 years without his sweet wife, Boyd Bentley Stimpson is now reunited with her. He passed away quietly on June 24, 2005. He was born in Riverdale, Utah on 4-14-14 to John Daniel and May Stimpson. He graduated from Weber High School and served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Arvilla Love in the Salt lake Temple and they lived happily in Riverdale for the rest of their lives. He loved to fish, hunt, watch his grand kids play ball and was always up for a good joke. His wonderful garden supplied an abundance of tomatoes, corn, and other delicious foods to his family, neighbors and friends. He will be missed by many, and like you always said, Dad, "See ya next week, 2 o'clock!" He leaves behind three children; Lynn (Kathy) Stimpson, Jolene (Jim) Preston and Judy (Stan) Flint; eight grandchildren, eight and a half great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruth Parker, two brothers, Lester Stimpson of St. George and Dean Stimpson of Zanesville, Ohio, and lov ing nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jenness Child and their baby boy, Stanley; one brother, Clifford and his beloved wife, Arvilla.
