He said when an angel misses you, they toss a penny down, sometimes just to cheer you up, to make a smile out of your frown. February 2, 1930 - June 25, 2005. We sadly announce the passing of Betty Lou Larsen, beloved wife of 51 years, wonderful, loving mother of three, and very special grandmother of four. She left in the arms of an angel, from the arms of her family, after a valiant battle with Wegener's disease. Our love for her cannot be expressed with mere words. She was a quiet strength to her children, and will be remembered for her endearing love and companionship to her husband. One of the things we will miss is her saying - "It isn't just the things we have, or the things we do and see - its having you to share them all, that means so much to me!" Betty loved to travel, and did so her entire life. At the age of 22, her sense of adventure led her to Washington, DC to work for the FBI, and to a USO dance where she met the love of her life. Stew was in the army, stationed at Ft. Belvior, VA. They kindled a relationship. She moved back home to Miami where she worked for Ameri can Airlines. Many romantic letters and pictures kept their love alive, and when Stew finished his tour of duty in Korea, a wedding was held at the Larsen family home in Ogden, Utah. Betty planned many adventurous vacations and weekend trips. She nurtured the family with unconditional love, and kept us together - on the beaches of the many lakes we visited, the national parks, or in the back yard. In their retirement years, Betty and Stew traveled the countryside enjoying the simple pleasure of seeing the sites - especially beautiful flowers, which were her passion. She was born in Miami, Florida, the youngest daughter of Bloxham and Lillie E. Thomas Roberts. The center of her life was her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, James Stewart "Stew" Larsen; sons, Dorsey Stewart (Linda) Larsen, Gunnison, CO, James Rex (Cindy) Larsen, Preston, ID; daughter Debbie Lou Larsen, Farr West, UT; grandchildren, Mandi Lou (Colton) Tanner, Jessica Shay Cronquist, Samantha Larsen, Shayso n James Larsen; and sister Lillian Roberts Brewer. Preceded in death by her mother Lillie E. Roberts and father Bloxham Roberts; brothers Benjamin, Thomas and Marshall. The family extends special thanks to the doctors and ICU Staff at McKay Dee Hospital, and a very heartfelt thanks to Shelly - an angelic nurse.
