He was born June 9, 1912 in Ogden, the son of Max J. and Clara Sagstetter Aubele. He married Anne C. Nardine on May 24, 1934. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1986. Bill was a member of the Catholic Church. He worked as a sausage maker for W.C. Parke and Son. He is survived by one brother, Herbert (Elda) Aubele of AZ; two sisters, Elenore (Curly) Thompson, ID; Melba (Orvill) Holdermann, NV; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Juanita R. Hancock. He was born in St. Joseph, MO in the 40's to George and Bessie Caw, one of eight boys. He married Marilyn Ann Green on May 9, 1969. They were married for 35 years, residing in Clearfield, UT. He retired from HAFB in 1990. He served his country, his way, and proud to do so. He was a volunteer for Catholic Community Services and a member of ABATE of Utah Davis Chapter, serving as the events coordinator. Russell loved to hunt, fish, making people laugh and making new friends. So Dan and Rocky get the fishing pole out, cause I'm coming home. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; three children, Marilyn A. (Zackery), Layton; Russell G. (Nicole) Caw Jr.; Richard C. (Cari) Caw; five grandchildren, Jordan, Jerrica, Madison, McKenna and Savannah; one brother, George Franklin Caw Sr. of St. Joseph, MO and one sister, Elenor D. Coon of St. Joseph, MO. Cowan, Donald Dennis OGDEN - Donald Dennis Cowan, 55, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born Nov. 20, 1949, in Salt Lake City, a son of Donald Dean and Della Crawley Cowan. He married Susan Johnston. They were later divorced. He then married Cheryl Anderson on April 11, 1980, in Ogden. Dennis had lived in Davis and Weber Counties most of his life and was employed as a packer at Hill AFB. He was a member of the Summit Chapel, the Free Mountain Trappers, and the Vibrate Rollover Team Club. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife of Ogden, one daughter, Brandy Cowan, Ogden; two grandchildren; one brother, David J. (Sue) Cowan, Layton. He was a kind and gentle man with a delightful sense of humor. He was born February 1, 1917 to Albert and Pearl Russon Dransfield. He graduated from old Ogden High School, worked at the Union Pacific railroad, and then began his career as a journeyman electrician. He married Norma Mason in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1941. He was proud of his involvement with many important projects across the nation and was a lifelong member of the international Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 449. He loved the outdoors and everything associated, and was fond of all animals and God's creations. Ron and two friends made headlines in the early 40's when they drove their Harley Davidson motorcycles cross-country. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Kay and siblings Melvin, Melba, and Ken. He is survived by his wife and loving companion of 63 years, his brother, Howard, children Steve (El aine), CarolAnn, Roger (Jennie), Paul, Craig (Dianne), and Debbie (Bruce), 23 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Elmer, Harvey Arnold WEST WEBER - Harvey Arnold Elmer, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. He was born November 18, 1923 in Stores, Utah, the last remaining child born to William and Cecil Elizabeth Allred Elmer. On December 20, 1946, Harvey married Helen Marie Bonnett in Ogden. He grew up in Vernal and has lived in West Weber for the past 43 years. Harvey was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He honorably served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. He fought in the Philippines and received the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Harvey retired from Hill Air Force Base where he worked as a foreman of the motor pool division. Harvey enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and camping. Faulkner, Jean OGDEN - Jean Day Faulkner of Ogden died peacefully in her sleep Feb 28, 2005. She was born Dec. 13, 1924 in Castle Gate, Utah, the third of five children to Ferrel Day and Mary Johnson Day. She spent her childhood on a farm in Emery County tending cows, riding her favorite horse Ol' Slim and reading books. She attended North Emery High School and was honored as the valedictorian of her graduating class in 1943. On Nov. 28, 1946 she married Jack S. Faulkner. He passed away in 1965. She has four children, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her interests are her family, her two cats and the Utah Jazz. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She was awarded ribbons for her excellence in sewing at the Utah State Fair. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and American Business Women's Association for several years and served in many leadership capacities in these organizatio ns. Jean is known for having a huge heart, big enough for loving all kinds of people, animals and creatures. She worked at Hill AFB for 30 years until she retired in 1993. Surviving are one son and three daughters, Carol and Matt Felici, Dennis and Pamela Faulkner, Cydney and Danny Shafer, Tracy and Marilyn Johnson-Faulkner; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Marjorie Day and Ruby DeGroot. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Kenna Mecham, and brother Keith Day. Fowers, Floyd David Floyd David Fowers HOOPER - The loving Patriarch of our family, Floyd David Fowers, 92, finished his earthly life and returned to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, February 27, 2005. He was at home surrounded his loving family. He was born December 10, 1912 in Hooper, the son of David Arthur Fowers and Artie Catherina Douglas. He lived his entire life in Hooper, graduating from Weber High School. On September 20, 1933 Floyd married the love of his life, Cora Cookie Widdison, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their marriage and sealing was performed by Apostle George F. Richards. They were blessed with eight children, Carolyn (Dean) Sudweeks, Bountiful; F. Blair Fowers, Jay E. (Marilyn) Fowers, all of Hooper; Ray D. Fowers, San Antonio, Texas; Leah C. (Jim) Fisher, Pleasant View; Dana (Lynn) Gorder, Dale R. (Merlynn) Fowers, Sheri (Elden) Bingham, all of Hooper. Cora passed away December 31, 1988. Floyd married Bessie Evans Bambrough on April 16, 1991. Dad devoted his entire life to his family, church and community of Hooper. He served as M-Men president, in the Elder's Quorum Presidency, the Sunday School Presidency and served as Bishop's counselor and Bishop for a total of 15 years. He served in the Stake Presidency as a counselor and Stake President for an additional 15 years. As part of his church callings he was the General Contractor responsible for building two LDS churches in Hooper, including the Stake Cultural Hall which was the last of its kind to be built. He was chosen by David O. McKay to help select the site for the Ogden LDS Temple. He also served as a sealer in the Ogden LDS Temple for 20 years. Many of his grandchildren were blessed to have him perform their marriages and sealings. His vision, hard work and service created a better life for all with whom he associated. He served with the Hooper Cemetery District, and was chairman of the Hooper Park when President Ronald Reagan visited. He was instrumental in securing land for the Lake View Stake Girls Camp and the Hooper North Park. He was also a member of the Utah Dairymen's Association and Chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service. Floyd is survived by his eight children; wife, Bessie; 42 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora; parents, four sisters, Iona Slater, Lyria Criddle, LaVon Cramer, Vivian Taylor and son-in-law, David R. Cragun. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Vista Care for all their loving and tender treatment of Dad. His example and guidance will be a lasting legacy for his family. He was born December 22, 1936 to Claude W. and Dorothy McMillan Hill at the old Dee Hospital. Both sides of his family have strong pioneer heritage. He was married and divorced from four wives. He is survived by his children, Paul and David of Washington; Joshua and Summer Faith (George) Tapia of California; Jeremiah and Sophie of Colorado and three grandchildren.Also surviving are his parents, Claude and Lynn Hill of Red Bluff, CA; siblings, Brent (Marilyn) of Layton; Trudy (Bill Morgan, Rick (Susan), Steve (Laurie), Bill (Jonie), all of California and Colleen (Jim) Hendricks of Washington; also many dear friends who loved him dearly. He married LaPreal Goates in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 18, 1937. He served an LDS mission in Nevada and California. He served in various church callings including ward chorister for over 70 years. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 32 years of service. He is survived by Elaine H. Maltby, and Grant C. (Norine) Hogan, one brother Donald I. Hogan, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Ean was born Nov 20, 2003 to parents Amber McCloskey and Justin Harris. He leaves behind his mom, dad, and big brother Bret, whom he adored. He also leaves behind his grandma Stephanie and papa Bill McCloskey, and grandma Libia Harris. He will be missed, especially by his special aunt Heather who tended him. He leaves behind his great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved to play with. His aunt Lindsie and grandpa Lloyd welcomed him into heaven. Helen Adele Paul, 71, of Willard, was called home to her Heavenly Father on February 27, 2005. Helen was born on January 17, 1934 to Fredrick and Fern Cook Christophel in Sacramento, California. Helen was married to Henry Cox from 1951 to 1966 Helen married the love of her life and soulmate, Charles D. Paul, March 13, 1972. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. Helen raised her five sons as a single mother until Chuck came along. She worked at the IRS for 25 years and then became a Tahitian Noni Distributor, which she really enjoyed. She spent countless hours in service to her family and others. Helen's crocheting and knitting provided afghans to the residents of Brigham City's nursing homes for several years. Helen loved people and kept in touch with family and friends throughout her life. She never forgot a telephone number and never forgot the art of letter writing. Helen is survived by her loving husband, Charles D. Paul and her sons: Michael, Steven, J effri, Chris and John Cox. Six stepchildren, Charles and Dean Paul, Terry Haskell, DeeAnn Porritt and Cindy Kelley, 41 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her stepson Jeff Paul and brother Fred. Roche, Carolyn Mae Evans THATCHER - Carolyn Mae Evans Roche, 68, returned to her Heavenly Father February 25, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a brave battle with Parkinson's Disease. Mom was born August 8, 1936 in Downey, Idaho, a daughter of John O. and Gladys Christensen Evans. She married her loving companion Milton Leon Roche December 6, 1957, in Malad, Idaho. They were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on June 23, 1977. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor who devoted her life to raising her family and working alongside her husband on the farm. She was an active member of the LDS church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glade, her sister Lucille, and her son-in-law, Arthur Cervantez. She is survived by her sweetheart Milton, who took exceptional care of Mom throughout her illness. Also surviving are three sons and six daughters; Bryon (Bea), John (Sheila), Julie (Val) Stokes, Bob (Becky), Mary (Sheldon) Leavitt, Dianna Cervantez, Shirley (Al) Soifua, Tresa (Shawn) Miller, and Heidi Butler. She adored her 42 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Merrill, Larry, Norman, Dean, Jack and Sam and her sisters Judy Teuscher and Kathy Garner. Stockdale, William R. OGDEN - William R Stockdale, 87, was reunited with his sweetheart of 59 years, on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at his son's home. He was born October 20, 1917 in Franklin, Idaho, the eldest son of John William and Ethel Rallison Stockdale. William graduated from Preston High School at the top of his class and while there, he was in charge of the school bookstore. He graduated from Utah State University where he was captain of the swim team. He married the love of his life, Barbara Grace Jensen, on July 1, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Ogden where William had a successful CPA firm. As a man ahead of his time, he was the first CPA in Ogden to put his accounting work on computers. He loved to explore new ideas and looked at life not as a challenge but as an opportunity for growth. William served as Alumni President of Utah State University where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Alumni award. He spent countless hours giving volunteer financial adv ice to the Robert H. Hinckley Scholarship Foundation which offered scholarships to Weber State, Utah State, University of Utah, and BYU. William's favorite saying was "Debt is the devil's advocate." He loved to give financial advice to anyone that sought his wisdom. He was an "Accountant's Accountant." William was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings, among them were serving on the High Council, counselor in a Bishopric, Stake Sunday School President and a faithful Home Teacher. Two of his favorite callings were serving as a financial clerk with his partner Barbara when they were first married and later as an Ogden Temple worker. One of his greatest attributes was that he never sacrificed his integrity for comfort, acceptance or social gain. His motto for the family was "With the help of the Lord, we always land on our feet". He is survived by his six children, Virginia (Brent deceased) Teeples, Chandler, AZ; Bill (Elaine) Stockdale, Ogden; Ann (Paul) Checketts, Fruit Heights; Bob (Jana) Stockdale, Billings, MT; Barbara (Gary) McDonald, Las Vegas, NV; and J. Paul Stockdale, Ogden. He has 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Clarice Pyle, Oklahoma; Nelda and Colleen Stockdale, both of Logan. His parents, wife, brother, and son-in-law preceded him in death. ROY - Jack Eugene Tomney, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at his home after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born December 24, 1926 in Ogden, a son of Henry and Marie Redmond Tomney. On June 11, 1946, Jack married Doris Patricia Utt in Ogden. He was employed with Bush Market and Mayfair Market. While living in Fresno, California, he worked as a real estate agent. He retired in 1990 and returned to Ogden. He worked at U&I Co-op in Roy, retiring from there on May 31, 1996. Jack loved gardening. He always had an immaculate yard - just ask the neighbors. Everyone that knew Jack knew if he was somewhere having fun he could be found in Wendover. Jack is survived by his wife, Doris, of 59 wonderful years, of Roy; two sons, Ron (Sandra) and Mike (Barbara), both of South Ogden; four grandchildren, Ryan (Amy), Chicago, IL; Brax, South Ogden; Azuree (Jason) Ball, Morgan; Travis (Julie), Sunset; five great-grandchildren, Colton, Chase, Carsyn, Colin, and Easton; five st ep-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. Whitaker, 77 passed peacefully from this life on February 25, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Artell was born March 25, 1927 in Bear River City, UT to Ercy Ulysses and Carrie Cleopha (Nelson) Whitaker. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 18 months during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a Gunner's Mate on the U.S.S. Kadeshan Bay and the USS Savo Island. He was discharged from the Navy on the Battleship Missouri in Boston in 1946. He married Shirley Lou John on January 16, 1947 in Evanston, Wyoming. They were later divorced. He married Mary Ellen Vroman on September 29, 1972 in Palmer, Alaska. They were later divorced. Artell married The love of his life, Betty Lou Jackson on August 10, 1988 in Anchorage, Alaska. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple on March 25, 1999 and were active members of the Bear River City 3rd Ward. When Artell returned home from the Navy he farmed for a while in Bear River, and then moved his family to Moses Lake, Washington, where he raised Potatoes and worked in the Sugar Beet Factory. He quit farming and started working construction building freeways in Western Washington. In 1964, he left Washington and went to Alaska. He was in Canada on his way to Alaska when the Big Earthquake struck. Artell was a Heavy Equipment Operator for 30 years. He built many Runways in the Bush in Alaska. He always said that if you were going to spend your life doing a job, you had better like what you are doing. He loved his job. He also worked on the Alaska pipeline. He retired from his job on March 25, 1987, but he always told everyone he met that if he was a young man he would still be in Alaska. After he retired, he moved his family to Bear River City, where they still reside. Surviving are his wife, Betty; one son, Artell Whitaker, Jr., Seattle, WA and four daughters, Lou Ann Fauver, Kirkland, WA; Sherrie Jo Montesano, Spokane, WA; Tami Anette Spurlock, Anchorage, AK; and Kimberly (Mic hael) Clawson, Brigham City, UT; one brother, Lynn (Fern) Whitaker, Moses Lake, WA; one brother-in-law, Tony Gallegos, Brigham City, UT; one sister-in-law, Helen Whitaker, Brigham City, UT; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Artell was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Blaine and Lloyd Whitaker, Sister Kathryn Whitaker Gallegos, and grandson Mick Zitting. His family wishes to thank the staff at Pioneer Care Center for taking very good care of him during his 3 visits there in the last 10 months. They would especially like to thank, Karl, Carla, Amanda, Bonnie, Noreen, Jen, Kayla, Sara, and Alan for treating him in such a loving manner and as if he were a member of their own family. The family would also like thank the angels of Legacy Hospice for the supportive and loving care given to Artell and his family during his final days at home. We would especially like to thank Deej, Marge, and Nichole for all the love they gave him and his f amily. The family would also like to thank Dr. Lynn Q. Beard for his care of Artell throughout his lengthy illnesses. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bear River City LDS Chapel at 5870 North 4700 West. Friends may call Thursday, March 3, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the LDS Chapel.
