She had been fighting cancer for some time, and never lost hope that she would some day beat it and we never lost hope that she would too. Donna, 75, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005. She was born June 16, 1929, in Ogden, Utah to Lewis W. and Beatrice Batchelor Street. She was a lifelong resident of Ogden. Donna enjoyed being able to travel with her daughter Melanie and with her sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Tom Bueche. Whether in Alaska, Hawaii or England adventure was their motto. The most important thing to her was her family. She played the Hawaiian guitar and was a member of the USO Band during WII. Her many hobbies included going to Wendover with her sister, reading, and oil painting. Donna is survived by her children, Michael (Patty Timbimboo) Madsen of Plymouth, UT; Rich Murdoch, Reno, NV; Scott Murdoch, So. Ogde n, Kerry Jacobson, Riverdale, Melanie (Tom French) Lauger, Seattle, WA; three grandchildren Ben Murdoch, Santa Cruz, CA; Garrett (Holly) Timbimboo, Brigham City, UT; Jenn Madsen, Carson City, NV; two great-grandchildren, Genavieve Hoaglund, Carson City, NV; Brooklyn Timbimboo, Brigham City ,and many nieces and one nephew. Faulkner, Jean OGDEN - Jean Day Faulkner of Ogden died peacefully in her sleep Feb 28, 2005. She was born Dec. 13, 1924 in Castle Gate, Utah, the third of five children to Ferrel Day and Mary Johnson Day. She spent her childhood on a farm in Emery County tending cows, riding her favorite horse Ol' Slim and reading books. She attended North Emery High School and was honored as the valedictorian of her graduating class in 1943. On Nov. 28, 1946 she married Jack S. Faulkner. He passed away in 1965. She has four children, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her interests are her family, her two cats and the Utah Jazz. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She was awarded ribbons for her excellence in sewing at the Utah State Fair. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and American Business Women's Association for several years and served in many leadership capacities in these organizatio ns. Jean is known for having a huge heart, big enough for loving all kinds of people, animals and creatures. She worked at Hill AFB for 30 years until she retired in 1993. Surviving are one son and three daughters, Carol and Matt Felici, Dennis and Pamela Faulkner, Cydney and Danny Shafer, Tracy and Marilyn Johnson-Faulkner; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Marjorie Day and Ruby DeGroot. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Kenna Mecham, and brother Keith Day. Fowers, Floyd David HOOPER - The loving Patriarch of our family, Floyd David Fowers, 92, finished his earthly life and returned to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, February 27, 2005. He was at home surrounded his loving family. He was born December 10, 1912 in Hooper, the son of David Arthur Fowers and Artie Catherina Douglas. He lived his entire life in Hooper, graduating from Weber High School. On September 20, 1933 Floyd married the love of his life, Cora Cookie Widdison, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their marriage and sealing was performed by Apostle George F. Richards. They were blessed with eight children, Carolyn (Dean) Sudweeks, Bountiful; F. Blair Fowers, Jay E. (Marilyn) Fowers, all of Hooper; Ray D. Fowers, San Antonio, Texas; Leah C. (Jim) Fisher, Pleasant View; Dana (Lynn) Gorder, Dale R. (Merlynn) Fowers, Sheri (Elden) Bingham, all of Hooper. Cora passed away December 31, 1988. Floyd married Bessie Evans Bambrough on April 16, 1991. Dad devoted his entire life to his family, church and community of Hooper. He served as M-Men president, in the Elder's Quorum Presidency, the Sunday School Presidency and served as Bishop's counselor and Bishop for a total of 15 years. He served in the Stake Presidency as a counselor and Stake President for an additional 15 years. As part of his church callings he was the General Contractor responsible for building two LDS churches in Hooper, including the Stake Cultural Hall which was the last of its kind to be built. He was chosen by David O. McKay to help select the site for the Ogden LDS Temple. He also served as a sealer in the Ogden LDS Temple for 20 years. Many of his grandchildren were blessed to have him perform their marriages and sealings. His vision, hard work and service created a better life for all with whom he associated. He served with the Hooper Cemetery District, and was chairman of the Hooper Park when President Ronald Reagan visited. He was instrumental in securing land for the Lake View Stake Girls Camp and the Hooper North Park. He was also a member of the Utah Dairymen's Association and Chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service. Floyd is survived by his eight children; wife, Bessie; 42 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora; parents, four sisters, Iona Slater, Lyria Criddle, LaVon Cramer, Vivian Taylor and son-in-law, David R. Cragun. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Vista Care for all their loving and tender treatment of Dad. His example and guidance will be a lasting legacy for his family. Dad was born May 5, 1912 in Beaver, Utah to John Burton Gillies and Nellie Inez Neilson. Jack married Alla Larue Johnson September 24, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA. Jack was employed at Sperry-Rand Corp. and Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal planner. He enjoyed reading, writing, history, politics, camping, travel and his greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife of 63 years, and one sister, Bette G. Harris, preceded Jack in death. Hogan, Kenneth Rudy OGDEN - Kenneth Rudy Hogan, 98, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 of causes incident to age. He was born November 4, 1906 in Woods Cross, Utah, the son of Charles E. and Ada Rudy Hogan. He married LaPreal Goates in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 18, 1937. He served an LDS mission in Nevada and California. He served in various church callings including ward chorister for over 70 years. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 32 years of service. He is survived by Elaine H. Maltby, and Grant C. (Norine) Hogan, one brother Donald I. Hogan, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, LaPreal, daughter Marilyn and seven brothers and sisters. Hudgens, Winton Ray Winton Ray Hudgens (Mr. Winton) Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away the morning of March 1, 2005 in Afton, Wyoming where he resided with his loving wife of 58 years. Dad was born on August 4, 1930, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Joseph B. Hudgens and Grace Kapp Hudgens. He was the third of seven children. He was raised in Ogden, Utah and attended Ogden City Schools. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and honorably served his country. He returned to Ogden and resided in North Ogden for many years before relocating to Afton, Wyoming. Dad married our mom, Janis Blodgett (daughter of Carl and Lila Blodgett of North Ogden) on February 19, 1947, in San Diego, California, and had just passed their 58-year anniversary. Together they raised five children. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children. He spent his years loving and teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad worked for the OUR&D Railroad for 23 years and post injury, retired. He was always a railroad man, bib overalls, and loved the time he spent working at the old fox trot shanty, the Jr. Old Timers and the Old Timers Association gatherings. He also enjoyed the time he worked for the Defense Depot Ogden. Dad is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Lenly, Waylon, and sister Beverly. He is survived by his wife, Janis and children: Barry Hudgens, Afton; Christine Midget (Larry), Smithfield; Steven Hudgens, Logan; Lynn Hudgens (Melica), Heber City; Janna Sadler (Rodway), Tooele; and his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dad will always be remembered for the stories that he would tell over and over and the jokes that he would laugh to. He spent many hours at the local cafes: Wangsgards, Mt. View and Harmons with the guys. He loved his home in Afton and spent many hours putting around on the wheeler. He's best loved for whatever belongs to you, will eventually belong to me. Dad we will miss you always, and keep in our hearts the stories, jokes and love. May you be re uniting with old friends and family, and telling them the same jokes. We'll see you again. Ochsner, 75, died peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2005 due to complications of pneumonia at Fairview East Care Center, in Salt Lake City. Richard was born April 18, 1929 in Ansley, Nebraska to Edmund F. and Nellie Clark Ochsner. Richard married Gloria Mansanarez on June 18, 1948 in Gooding, Idaho. They divorced in 1957. On August 31, 1963 Richard married LaVerne Potts. LaVerne died in July 1998. He was an accomplished Trapshooter winning several local and state championship titles, Life Member of Amateur Trapshooting Association and Life member of Twin Falls Gun Club, where he served six years on the board of Directors, holding offices of both President and Vice President. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, where he felt the most at home, in the mountains. Richard was a Journeyman Mechanic for over 40 years. He owned Dick's Auto Repair in Twin Falls. He served his country in the Army during WWII. Richard lived in Gooding, and Twin Fal ls, Idaho and later Clinton, and Roy, Utah. He is survived by Randy (Diana Albiston) Ochsner, Roy, UT; Richard Ochsner, Twin Falls, ID; Joe Ochsner, Gooding, ID; Frank Ochsner, Twin Falls, ID; Susan (Bob) Ashcroft, Boise, ID; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Payne, Ross E. OGDEN - Ross E. Payne, 79, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. He was born November 21, 1925 in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of William E. and Lucille Negus Payne. On September 27, 1947, Ross married Beverley Ringle in Salt Lake City. Beverley preceded him in death on March 4, 1992. He lived most of his life in the Ogden area and attended Ogden High School. Ross was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enlisted with the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked as a journeyman carpenter and a general foreman for Weyher Brothers Construction. He was a member of the Carpenters Union. Dad was a perfectionist and enjoyed yard work, gardening and keeping up the house. Surviving are three sons, Gregory R. (Claudia) Payne, Panguitch, UT; William E. (Suzie) Payne, North Hampton, MA; Alan J. (Shelley) Payne, Hooper; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. PLEASANT VIEW - Thelma Ward Rhees, 97, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in Orem, Utah. She was born October 17, 1907, in Liberty, Ogden Valley, to Albert G. and Charlotte Woodfield Ward. She loved the beautiful valley and had a happy childhood on the family farm. She attended grade school in Liberty and North Ogden, graduated from Ogden High School and from Weber College with a teaching certificate. Thelma married Reuben G. Rhees on June 17, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1974. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pleasant View 1st Ward for 70 years, serving in the Primary and Young Women for many years as a teacher, counselor, and president. She also served in the stake auxiliaries, and was a Relief Society visiting teacher for 50 years. She and her eternal companion were ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. Thelma was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was active in PTA in the North Ogden and Wahlquist schools. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially her tours to the temples and church history sites. She also attended the temples in England, Germany and Switzerland. She taught first and second grades in Pleasant View and Liberty. She also worked at the Internal Revenue Service for several years. Thelma loved her large family and they returned their love to her. She is survived by four daughters and two sons: Connie Ward, Spanish Fork; Frances (Dale) Burt, Bear River City; Ranae Linford, North Ogden; Geniel (Kent) Van Kampen, Birmingham, AL; Reuben Ward "Butch" (Karin Borklund) Rhees, Orem; and Raymond (Vickie Stocks) Rhees, Littleton, CO. Her family includes 29 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sisters LaVene Ward and Rosene Shaw, brothers Ralph Ward and Glen Ward, two sons-in-law LeGrand Ward and Seth James Linford, and two grandchildren Jill and Kelly. Stephens, Marilyn OGDEN - Marilyn Feller Stephens, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. She was born September 16, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Wallace E. and Nola Petersen Feller. She was married to Michael D. Stephens; they later divorced. Marilyn worked in insurance sales for over 28 years, where she qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table, and received her LUTCF designation. She was a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, Million Dollar Round Table Association, First Security 110% Club, and Presidents Club, and Utah and Ogden Chamber of Commerce. Michael has been a wonderful companion, caregiver, and friend to Marilyn throughout her lifetime. The family appreciates and loves him. Surviving are her lifelong companion, Michael D. Stephens; one son, Clinton Wallace Stephens; three nephews, Wayne, Ryan (Amy), Matthew; and one niece, Amy. ROY - Jack Eugene Tomney, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at his home after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born December 24, 1926 in Ogden, a son of Henry and Marie Redmond Tomney. On June 11, 1946, Jack married Doris Patricia Utt in Ogden. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Roy 11th Ward. Jack served proudly on the U.S.S. Magoffin in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was employed with Bush Market and Mayfair Market. While living in Fresno, California, he worked as a real estate agent. He retired in 1990 and returned to Ogden. He worked at U&I Co-op in Roy, retiring from there on May 31, 1996. Jack loved gardening. He always had an immaculate yard - just ask the neighbors. Everyone that knew Jack knew if he was somewhere having fun he could be found in Wendover. Jack is survived by his wife, Doris, of 59 wonderful years, of Roy; two sons, Ron (Sandra) and Mike (Barbara), both of South Ogden; four grandchildren, Ryan (Amy), Chicago, IL; Brax, South Ogden; Azuree (Jason) Ball, Morgan; Travis (Julie), Sunset; five great-grandchildren, Colton, Chase, Carsyn, Colin, and Easton; five step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Fawn Conroy, Barbara Scovel and Judy Erz. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Christy Lynn, and brothers Lenord and Dick.
