She was born April 10, 1932 in Monticello, Utah, to Ray and Olive Melissa Jarvis Christensen. She grew up and attended schools in Monticello. After leaving Monticello, she lived in Huntington, Utah for 22 years, then moved to Ogden in 1973. Norma married Jack Majors in 1950, in Monticello, they later divorced. On April 13, 1973, Norma married Calvin Oneil "Neil" Anderson, in Uintah, Utah. Norma and Neil later solemnized their marriage vows in the Ogden LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a visiting teacher, Sunday School teacher and nursery leader. She retired from the Ogden City School District Food Services. Norma enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, camping, fishing, long rides in the car and going on trips. She is survived by her husband, Neil; her children, Sheryl (Edward) Murdoc k, Joan (Tom) Souza, MaryAnn (Dave) Mueller, Loraine (Henry) Rejman, Calvin (Emma) Anderson, Kidd (Bea) Majors, Jeanne (Clark) Peterson, Jacki (Robert) Christoffersen, Michael (Lorena) Anderson, Chyane Donnie Baker, Karen (Galyn) Price; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Neldon Christensen, Sam Christensen, Dennis Christensen; and sisters, Mariam Rogers, Janis Shumway, and Cleo Stewart. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, one son and two grandsons. Bainter, Rosalie Benstog Rosalie Benstog Bainter MESA, Arizona - Rosalie died Feb. 28, 2005. She was born Sept. 25, 1947 in Yokohama, Japan and spent the first eight years of her life in Our Lady of Lourdes baby home. She was adopted by Joseph and Donna Benstog and arrived in San Bernardino, Calif. on Dec. 24, 1955. She attended St. Anne Grammar and St. Bernardine High School. She married Jim Bainter in 1969 and moved to California, where they had two sons, Michael and Brian. They later moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she lived until her death. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Michelle), Brian (Rebecca) and granddaughter, Emmerson; her parents, Donna and Joe Benstog; brothers, David (Barbara), Patrick, Tom (Diane), Paul (Lola), Dominic and sisters, Becky (John) and Laurie (Dean) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, etc. Rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 7 at Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Mesa. CORINNE - Lloyd Roe Bunderson, 79, passed away peacefully March 4, 2005 at his home from causes due to ALS (Lou Gehrig?s Disease). He was born on November 20, 1925 in Stone, Idaho, a son of William Rudolph and Lucy Irene Roe Bunderson. He married Lilian Christiansen on June 16, 1953 for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. He graduated from Bear River High School. He served in both the U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman. He attended college at Utah State. He served two LDS missions ( one with his wife) in Norway. He worked 31 years for Thiokol as a Chemical Technician. He was a member of the Corinne 2nd Ward where he was a High Priest. He served in various positions, some of which were as a Home Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Stake Missionary, Ward Sunday School President, as a Stake Sunday School President (twice), and a Ogden LDS Temple worker. Lloyd had a great love for the Sunday School program, family history, and for his family. He enjoye d working in the garden and in his wood working shop. Surviving is his wife, Lilian; children, Oleen (Jalene) Bunderson, West Haven; Kenneth (DiAnn) Bunderson, Tremonton; Dan (Pam Marie) Bunderson, Temecula, California; Julie (David) Kay, Roy; Shaila (Max) Tavioan, Malad, Idaho; Wendell (Penny) Bunderson, Perry; Eric (Monica) Bunderson, Corinne, 24 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers, Nona Knighton, Salt Lake City; Delphia (Oris) Rudd, Ontario, Oregon; Cleo (Shirley) Bunderson, Tremonton; and Harold (Mary Kay) Bunderson, Meridian, Idaho. She was born June 18, 1938 to Thomas Ross and Florence Regina Spendlove Carter. DeAnn was raised in Morgan, Utah and graduated from Morgan High School. She attended Weber College for one and a half years and worked at Morgan Drug and Bona Vista Water Co. She was an attendant to the Morgala Days Queen in 1957. DeAnn loved horses and was riding by the time she was three years old. Surviving are her mother, Florence Carter and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Ross, her brother Calvin and one niece. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 7, 2005 at 12 noon in the South Morgan Cemetery. Cruz, Helen OGDEN - Helen Cruz passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Mount Ogden Care Center. She was born to Chrestino and Benedita Casias in Chama, New Mexico on April 23, 1925. She spent her early years in Ignacio, Colorado, where she married Flavio Salazar. They were later divorced. Since 1952 she has resided in Ogden where she met and married Casie Cruz, who preceded her in death along with a son Sammy Cruz, baby Alicia, and brother Lloyd Casias. Helen had many friends who will miss her dearly. The following sons and daughters survive her: Diane Fraga, Salt Lake City; Ted and Tam Cruz, Taylorsville, UT; Richard and Inez Cruz, Enumclaw, WA; Kathy and Earl Bassard, Seymour, IN; Elaine and Michael Lujan, Roy. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Ray and Emma Casias, Phoenix, AZ; Ophelia Mestas, Iganacio, CO; and Chrestino and Lillian Casias, Clearfield. Also surviving are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom she loved d early along with her nieces and nephews. Helen loved music and dancing, which always made her feel happy. Helen has now found her "Rinconsito en el Cielo"(a corner of heaven). We will miss you very much. She was born July 8, 1952 in Ogden, the daughter of Daniel Mark and Loris Felt Allen. On May 19, 1972 she married Dennis E. Probasco in Huntsville, Utah. They later divorced. On October 22, 1996 she married Lonnie Ford in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jolene was a member of the L.D.S. Church. She worked for the I.R.S. as a clerk for 19 years. She loved Wendover, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was a wonderful mother and loved her grandchildren. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie; two daughters and one son, Michelle (Brian) Padelsky, Hooper; Lorie Probasco, Pleasant View; Mark Probasco, Harrisville; two step-children, Angell Maloni Ford, Missouri; Ayana Ford, Maryland; four grandchildren, Kysa Farley, Hayden Padelsky, Brent Holliday and Reed Padelsky. She is also survived by her mother, Loris F. Allen; mother-in-law, Roxie Keita; one brother, Douglas Allen; nephew and nieces, Amos, Ginger, Katie and Andrea Trit Allen and Josie Robison. Knudsen, Edwin I. 1910 - 2005 Edwin Ingebrigt Knudsen, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, age 95, passed away March 3, 2005, in Bountiful, Utah. Born February 23, 1910, in Newfolden, Minnesota, the son of Oluf M. Knudsen and Manda I. Stenfos Knudsen. He came to Boise, Idaho, with his family in 1919. He married Lillian E. Hultgren on September 14, 1935 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Boise, Idaho. They lived in Boise for a few years after which they moved to Twin Falls for a brief time and then to Jerome, where they lived until 1959. They moved to Murray, Utah and in 1963 they moved to Ogden where they resided until 1978 when they moved to Fruit Heights. He had resided at Apple Tree Assisted Living for the last two years. He worked as a store manager for many years for Motor Mercantile/Strevell-Patterson in Jerome, Idaho and Murray, Utah and Ogden, Utah. After his retirement in 1975 he volunteered as a driver for Meals-On-Wheels. He also was manager for Lloyd's Mobile Home Park for a number of years. He is survived by daughters Kristin (Lorin) Castleman, Oakland, CA; and Julie (Paul) Waite, Centerville; grandchildren, Kelly Mattena (Mark), Salt Lake City; Shelby (Gerald) Kleyn, Houston, Texas; Stacy Waite, Centerville; and great-grandchildren Mitchell and Kate Mattena and Anders Kleyn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian in February 2002 and two sisters, Olga Hultgren and Dagmar Swindell and one brother, Henry Knudsen. Laramee, William Earl ROY - William Earl Laramee beloved husband, father and grandfather died March 3, 2005. He was born June 7, 1929 in Cazenovia, New York to Sadie and Alberic Laramee. He married Victoria M. Dobrin on January 17, 1953 in Fontana, California. Together they had Carol, and Terry (deceased in 1999) Laramee, three grandchildren, Lex Laramee Cassiere, Tara Lynn Thornhill and Jacob Laramee Thornhill. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and is a Korean War veteran. He graduated from Chaffey College in Ontario, California. He worked at Hill Air Force Base from 1965 and retired in 1984 as a Technical Management Specialist on the F-16, Engineering Support Services. He was past Master of Weber Lodge #6 and a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Most of all he loved his wife, children, three grandchildren and dear friends and neighbors. He was a gifted handy man and could fix anything. "Bless my hands and extend Your love through them, making them an i nstrument of Your peace. As your love flows through me and reaches our to others, I am blessed and filled with joy." Surviving are his wife Vicki, daughter, Mrs. Carol Thornhill (Daniel) and three grandchildren. Mavin, Richard Samuel Richard Samuel Mavin "Papa" BOUNTIFUL - "Rich" Richard Samuel Mavin, 65, of Bountiful died peacefully at home early Friday morning, March 4, 2005. Rich was born September 23, 1939 in Plymouth, Devonshire, England. He was the son of Reginald Samuel and Maggie Eliza Hambley Mavin. They preceded him in death. His mother died in September 1970 and his father in April 1998. Rich immigrated to America in 1947 and became a U.S. citizen in 1960. He lived in San Diego, CA and later moved to Ogden. He was a 1957 graduate of Ogden High and a 1967 graduate of Weber State University. He was employed in numerous marketing and supervisory positions at AT&T, Mountain Bell and US West until his retirement in 1990. He was founder and president of CIT Communications and Satisfaction Development Systems in Salt Lake City until July 2004. He served in the British Mission from 1960-1962. He was an excellent missionary and cherished the memories and lifelong friendships developed during that period of hi s life. He married Sheila Rae McIntire of Clearfield, August 24, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an excellent musician and was well known for his humor and banjo playing abilities. He also played guitar, keyboard and composed and recorded music. He served as Bountiful Rotary Club President. He also served as Chairman of the Board and National Delegate from Utah for the American Cancer Society for many years. He was an excellent teacher and enjoyed sharing his knowledge. He loved great music and great literature. Shakespeare's sonnets and plays and Melville's Moby Dick were among his favorite works. He was also a great fan of Joseph Campbell, Carl Sagan, and Bill Moyer. Rich also loved history and had visited virtually all of the Civil War sites in the U.S. He loved trains and created a wonderful model HO train world of his own. He loved model British soldiers and collected hundreds of them throughout the years beginning with his childhood in England. Rich was also an exc ellent photographer and videographer. He created beautiful travel movies. His favorite subjects were trains, Chama, New Mexico, birds of the Great Salt Lake, Yellowstone, backyard birds, nature, and his family. The movies were always accompanied by appropriate music and narration. Rich was an excellent writer and enjoyed writing short stories and childhood memories titled "The Porter Avenue Gang." He loved golfing with his friends though he maintained golf didn't always "love" him. In years past he had been an avid snowmobiler, car enthusiast, and eagle watcher. He also loved dogs and raised many over the years. Rich adored his girls: Diedre Ann, San Diego, CA; Sofia (Binski - Princess, my darling) Bountiful; Lindsay Jones and Izabella (Bella) Tolman Brooklyn, New York. He had great admiration for the talents and accomplishments of the boys in the family: R. Trevor, Bountiful; Harper Greene, San Diego; Matt Jones, S.L.C.; Cache Tolman, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jake McIntire, South Ogden; M. Tyl er and Devin Larkins, Lehi; Aaron McIntire, Concord, New Hampshire and Josh McIntire, Syracuse, UT. He also had great love and appreciation for his friends and loved ones for friendship, time, and thoughtfulness throughout his 8 by-pass heart surgery, August 2004, and recuperation. McEwen, Eva Maxine Eva Maxine McEwen (Max) Maxine passed on in her sleep at the Washington Terrace Nursing Center, Ogden, Utah, on March 2, 2005 at the age of 83. She was born on a farm June 20, 1921 in Dola, WV, the daughter of Robert Swiger and Donna (Stiers) Swiger. Maxine left home at the age of 14 to become variously, a ladies' maid, a kitchen worker and a Woolworth's clerk in the coal mining towns of West Virginia. In 1942 Maxine saw an ad for Ordnance Workers in Hawthorne, Nevada, and rode the train to Hawthorne to work in the production areas of NAD Hawthorne. While there, she met and married a young Marine, Corporal James V. McEwen, and followed him through his Marine postings during the war. After the war they settled in North Hollywood, CA. and had two children, James II and Brenda. Jim and Maxine moved back to Hawthorne in 1957, where they opened a sheet metal shop on E Street. To help the family out, Maxine worked several years in the kitchen at the old Mt. Grant General Hospital. While her children were growing up in Hawthorne, Maxine supported both of them in Scouting, Civil Air Patrol and school activities. Jim and Maxine were both very active in the VFW holding various post on the local and district level. They spent many hours working to benefit the Veterans and their families. Maxine was a life member of John Franklin Shain Auxiliary Post 2313, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. You could always see her downtown on Armed Forces Day, selling Buddy Poppies. She moved with her husband to Winnemucca, NV, where they lived for several years. Maxine and Jim divorced in 1978, after 35 years of marriage, but continued to love him until her death. She moved back to Hawthorne in 1978, and worked at the Monarch Cafe, then for United Maintenance Service at HWAAP. After the Base went contract she was hired as an Ordnance Worker by DZB and worked at the Demil facility for 10 years. She stayed active with her work in VFW and later worked part time at the El Capitan Casino, at both the Golf Course and in the Buffet, finally retiring at the age of 72. In failing health, Maxine moved from Hawthorne in 2002 to her daughter's home in Ogden, UT. Her wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes scattered where she lived. Memorial Services will be held later at a later date. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, five Brothers and a Sister. She is survived by her son, James McEwen II, her daughter, Brenda McEwen Watkins, and by three grandchildren; Curtis Watkins II (Michelle), Paul Watkins (Lisa) and Angela McEwen Kenyon (Robert). She greatly enjoyed spending time with her seven great grandchildren; Blake, Alicia, Tyson, Curt III, and Ian Watkins and Joshua and Alex Kenyon. She was born April 15, 1917 in Ogden, UT to Orley Joseph and Margaret Rawson Chugg. She married Norbert A. Patterson on March 27, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT. Mary loved to work with people, either in sales at the Chugg Art Shop or L. R Samuels and for many years as a bank teller with the Bank of Utah. She was known for her compassion and caring for others. She was a member of the LDS Church and enjoyed many years of service in the Ogden Temple. She is survived by her two daughters Mary Kay Carter, Charleston, South Carolina and Janice (Michael) Richards, Cedar City; nine grandchildren, Todd (Janalee) Carter, Mark Carter, Kim (Jason) Berendt and Angie (Jason) Widener, Jennifer (Dustin) Stauffer, Alyson Richards, Amy Petersen, Joni Richards, Emily Richards; and nine great grandchildren. Published in the Standard-Examiner on 3/6/2005. Reinhold, Francis Willard Francis Willard Reinhold OGDEN - Francis Buzz W. Reinhold, 90, of Ogden passed away Friday, March 4, 2005. Buzz was born October 7, 1914 to William Fredrick and Bertha Nelson Reinhold in Battlecreek, Nebraska. He was the third of five children. Although Buzz struggled with hearing problems from a young age, his determination and quest for knowledge helped him succeed in school. He spent his youth in Nebraska where he learned the ethic of hard work. At the young age of nine Buzz began helping his father paint barns to earn money for the family. Little did he know that painting would become his lifelong career. In 1937 he married Evelyn Glissman. They had two children together and were later divorced. In 1940 he moved to Ogden where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several years. In 1948 he met the love of his life, Louise Dowling. They were married on April 5, 1951. He was a loving father to her two children and they were later sealed as a family in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temp le. Buzz valued his membership in the L.D.S. Church and served in many leadership positions throughout his life. He said the becoming a member of the L.D.S. Church was the best step I ever took in my life. Buzz worked for Colorite as a painter for nearly 30 years. He was a man of many talents. He had a beautiful singing voice and recorded a song in the 40's. He was a graceful dancer and enjoyed dancing with his wife. He was a creative artist and loved woodworking. He was an avid reader who treasured books and the world of knowledge they provided to him. He took great pride in caring for his home, yard and neighborhood. He was active in the Democratic party and opened his home as a polling place for many years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and often took grandchildren along with them. His love, devotion and patience toward his grandchildren was beyond measure. Buzz is survived by his son, Ernest (Susan) Heywood of Pleasant View and daughters, Carole (Ray) Baugh of Clinton and Bever ly Reinhold of Ogden; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Reandeau and Dorothy Stevens; one brother, Donald Reinhold. He was preceded in death by his wife and his baby boy, David. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Rothey, Allan Dean Allan Dean Rothey OGDEN - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather rejoined his eternal Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the age of 83. He was born December 22, 1921 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, to Leonidas Godfrey and Ruth Brown Rothey. Allan married his sweetheart, Elizabeth Pollak, on June 26, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had three daughters, Elizabeth (Ralph) Smith, Monterray, Mexico; Joanie (Ron) Hadley, Ogden; and Erika (Allan) Miller, Anderson, Alaska. He served with the U.S. Armed Forces and in the course of his career defended his country in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the war in Vietnam. He received many medals during his service for honor and bravery. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 after 28 years of service. Allan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was ordained a High Priest and did frequent temple work. He enjoye d traveling with friends and family, and especially loved Germany. He and his family lived in Madrid, Spain for two tours of duty. Allan will be greatly missed by family and friends, to whom he was affectionately known as "the candy man" because he always had a smile and a treat for all he met. He will also be fondly remembered for his caring and concern for others, his upright military carriage, and especially for his collection of hats. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Jeff Call for taking such good care of Allan. We also express deep appreciation to friends, neighbors and members of the Pleasant Valley 3rd Ward -Joe Widman and Earl Castner - for all their help and concern. Surviving are his wife of Ogden; his children, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and his sister Ruth Slipp, Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and great-grandson, Hayden Hadley.
