Dee was born August 25, 1932 to P. Arvel and Leone Skeen Bingham in Ogden, UT. He was reared and educated in the Weber County area. He courageously served his Nation in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. On December 10, 1954 he married Evelyn Poulsen. They raised five sons, together, four of which he employed and worked with for many years. Dee and Eveyln were married for 31 years. On March 4, 1986, he married Joe Ann Heinrich where he enjoyed unconditional love and companionship for the past 19 years to the exact day. His career began in 1955 with the then new Standard Plumbing Supply Co. In 1986 he retired as vice president, overseeing 18 stores. At his time he and Joe Ann moved to Boulder City, Nevada where he worked for Kelly Supply. After several years they moved to the Idaho area living out the remainder of his life. Dee loved fa mily gatherings and had a passion for hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Joe Ann of Boise; children are as follows, Kimm Bingham of South Ogden, UT, Guy Bingham of East Layton, UT, Drew (Shelly) Bingham of Ogden Canyon, UT, Chris (Joy) Bingham of Perry, UT, Andrew (Mellisa) Bingham of Aberdeen, Maryland, Kathy (Rick) Willmore of Acton, CA, Steve Heinrich of Simi Valley, CA, Sherry (Jay) Kruft of Carmel, CA, Lourie Neal of Boise, ID; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Margaret Grimsby of Ogden, UT; brother, DJ (Kathy) Bishop Jr. of Layton, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar J and Leone Bishop, P. Arvel and Lucille Bingham. At Mr. Bingham's request there will be no public viewing or funeral. There will be a brief private family memorial on Friday, March 11, 2005. Buck, Thelma J. Together Again RIVERDALE/ROY - Thelma Jorgensen Buck, 86, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center in Layton from causes incident to age. She was born January 26, 1919, in Eureka, Utah, the only child of Alvin and Mary Frances Kearns Jorgensen. She attended Park City schools and graduated from Park City High School in 1936. Thelma married Robert G. Buck on January 18, 1940 in Park City. He died April 12, 1997. Thelma was a superb homemaker, and worked as a bank teller for many years. Her interests included music and dancing. Thelma was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her children and their spouses who survive are: R. Blaine (MaryLou) Buck, Riverdale, UT; Dale (Darlene) Buck, Wilmington, NC; Janet O'Brien, Des Moines, WA; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Thelma's family would like to thank Emeritus Estates Assisted Living for the wonderful care provided for four and a half years, and Heritage Park Care Cent er for their devoted care for the last six months of her life. Castillo LAYTON - Our loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend returned to our Heavenly Father on Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2005. Waiting to greet her was her best friend and brother, Harry. Marty was born January 3, 1965 in Ogden, the daughter of Jose and Soila Sepulveda Castillo. Marty graduated from Layton High School in 1983 and attended WSU and the U of U. Marty enjoyed working on her computer, spending time with her little dog Cuddles, Pepsi, and loving and caring for all her nieces and nephews. She was an inspiration and loved by all who knew her. Checketts, Janet Duke Janet Duke Checketts, born May 18, 1934, to Arthur V. and Eulean Garfield Duke in Bench Creek, Utah, died at her home March 5, 2005. Janet is survived by a great posterity of 5 children, George, Gus and Nancy, Dirk and Susie, Cameron and Darla Checketts, Denese and Sherm Tate; 36 grandchildren, and 7 great-children. Draney, Loretta OGDEN - Loretta Lorraine Proctor Draney joined her loved ones in Heaven on March 5, 2005 at the age of 84. She was born June 9, 1920 in Salt Lake City to Samuel Carroll Proctor and Ellen Josephine Benfell Proctor. She was the third of seven children. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church where she held many positions such as Primary secretary, MIA president and extraction worker. She graduated from Granite High School in 1938 and later graduated from L.D.S. Business College. She met and married George Glen Draney on January 25, 1941 and they had three daughters, JoAnn, Glenda and Karen. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1982. She also helped to raise her grandchildren, Krista Beus Keogh and David Scott Beus. She is survived by her three daughters, JoAnn (Andy) Smullin, Glenda (Carl) Uhlig, Karen (Dave) Beus; and six grandchildren, Carl Max Uhlig, Ernest Glen (Gwen) Uhlig, Brock Frederick (Jamie) Uhlig, Mindy Annette Uhlig, Michae l Keith Smullin and David Scott Beus. Also surviving are one brother and three sisters: Homer LeRoy Proctor, Carol Dawn (Ralph) Thompson, Helen Doreen (Darrell) Quinn and Barbara Jean (Hershel) Armstrong. Facer Together Again OGDEN - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend passed away Monday March 7, 2005 at his home surrounded by his loving family and was reunited with his sweetheart. Evan was born December 24, 1916 in Cherry Creek, Idaho, the 13th child and 9th son of Rozilla Dalton and James Alma Facer. Evan loved horses and animals of all kinds. In his early years he was a sheepherder and a ranch hand for many ranches around the Malad Valley. In 1942 he enlisted in the army. During World War II he served with the 10th Mountain Division Company C 87th Regiment. His duties took him to the Aleutian Islands and to Italy across the Riva Ridge and through the North Apennines. Evan married the love of his life Mattie Earl on July 25, 1942 in Woodruff, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 27, 1970. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2005, which left him with a broken heart. Evan joined the Ai r Force in 1947 and he traveled to many bases around the world. He had the opportunity to cook for President Eisenhower and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. He retired in May 1965 and went on to work at the Defense Depot Ogden until retiring on July 2, 1982. Evan loved to cook for people and loved to take care of his garden. He loved to camp, fish and most of all hunt with his boys, nephews and friends. He is survived by three daughters and two sons, LaRue (Doug) Winget, Las Vegas, NV; Lorraine (Michael) Bowen, Hyde Park, UT; Terry (Kathy) Facer, West Valley; Larry (Verna) Facer, and Pamela (Mark) Randall, both of Ogden. He raised one granddaughter Sherrie (Kenny) Pribble, Las Vegas, NV; and two great-grandsons Jeffrey (Leslie) Hurst and Christopher Hurst, both of Ogden, whom he considered as sons. A very special nephew Sherm (Nancene) Facer, Layton, UT; he had 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter due in July. He was preceded in death by his w ife, one son Charles Earl Facer, his parents and eight brothers, Glen, Ray, France, Willard, Wallace, Howard, Keith and Karl, five sisters Mable, Thelma, Mary, Melba and June. George, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005 surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. June was born July 9, 1923 in Malad, Idaho, to Chauncey E. and Louisa Jones Miller. She was one of 13 children. She grew up in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On April 10, 1941, she married the love of her life, Douglas Cyril George. He died October 10, 1984. He remained the only love in her life. After 21 years they are finally reunited. Together they had six children. They lived in Washington Terrace where she worked at Roosevelt Elementary with the school lunch program. She also worked at Hill Air Force Base in supply and transportation. She retired from McKay-Dee Hospital after 17 years of service. She resided in South Weber since 1965 where she had many good friends and neighbors and enjoyed being a part of t he South Weber Ladies Luncheon Club. June was always there for her family and was dearly loved by everyone. She was an avid doll collector. She also loved watching her grandchildren, Ragan, Katie Jo and Doug, participating in rodeo, 4-H , and sports. June kept a beautiful yard and enjoyed gardening. She was an excellent quilter, every new grandchild was sure to have their own quilt made by grandma. Surviving are her children, Ray (Kay) George, Uintah; Karen Butters, Ogden; Nancy (Tom) Driscoll, Roy; Danny George, Boise, ID; Terri (Paul) Wells, South Weber; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Granducci II, Joseph S. ROY - Joseph S. Granducci II, 71, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Washington D.C., on July 6, 1933, the son of Mildred Marstella Reynolds and Oeveste Santi Granducci. He married the love of his life, Nancy Lee Rainear in 1965. They were married for 39 years and raised five children. Joe grew up in the Annapolis area and joined the Air Force in 1955. He served for 20 years with distinction in Korea (1957), Vietnam (1965/66) and the U.S. He was a Command Pilot with over 5000 hours of flying time. In Vietnam, he flew 232 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice and the Air Medal ten times, along with other decorations and medals to include the Republic of Vietnam 'Fourragere' Medal and Gallantry Cross with Silver Star. Joe retired from the Air Force in 1975 and settled in Roy, Utah where he opened and ran G-Enterprises/Telerad, an electronics sales and distribution compa ny. He also worked at Ogden High School from 1997 to 2002 helping his wife in pioneering Northern Utah distance learning initiatives. Joe enjoyed camping, sailing, family vacations, hunting and in his later years spent many hours 'on the mountain' prepping and dreaming about the family cabin to be completed by this summer. He was active in many political and community clubs and organizations such as REACT, Kiwanis, and was often 'seen and heard' at city council meetings. Joe was also a valued and active member of many veteran organizations such as the Order of Daedalians. Joe is survived by his wife; two sisters, Anne M. Purvis , Jennifer Oliver; five children, Laura Anne Granducci Temple, Andrew Todd Granducci, Joseph S. Granducci III, Leeanne Merin Granducci Hess and Teresa Lynne Granducci Hall; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, who were dearly loved by their grandpa. Hansen, Rita Ann Hammond BEAR RIVER CITY - Rita Ann Hammond Hansen, 71, passed away at the Brigham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brigham City on March 7, 2005. She was born on August 12, 1933 to Grant Levi and O'Reta Otterbeck Hammond. Rita met her sweetheart, Collin L. "Bud" Hansen, at a New Year's dance in Hyrum. They were married on May 28, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on July 12, 1963. Rita was reared and educated in Providence and graduated from South Cache High School. She enjoyed all sports especially softball. She was an avid supporter of the Utah Jazz and the Denver Broncos. She was a meticulous homemaker and enjoyed watching her grandson, A.J., play baseball. Her family meant the world to her. She was a member of the Bear River First Ward. Surviving are her husband; one son, Alan L. Hansen of Bear River City; one grandson, Alan "A.J." L. Hansen, Jr. of Bear River City; one sister, Colleen Hicken of Ogden and one sister-in-law, Linda Johnston of Clearfield. Rita is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Reed Grant Hammond. Hawkes, Lloyd PLEASANT VIEW - Lloyd Hawkes, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, three weeks shy of his 72nd birthday from complications of cancer. He was born March 29, 1933 in Logan, a son of Percy and Ida Hawkes. He graduated from South Cache High School, attended radio school in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Utah State University. Lloyd married his sweetheart, Donna Jeanette Prisbrey, on September 6, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with eight beautiful children, 31 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and still counting! Lloyd was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled all of his callings. He served a mission to the Southern States. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a school teacher for 33 years in the Ogden City Schools where he taught electronics and industrial arts. Lloyd enjoyed bee keeping in the summers and cross country skiing in the winters. Mother was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, September 11, 1923 to William and Sophie Hunt. Upon graduation from high school, Iris relocated to Ogden, UT where she worked at the Ogden Arsenal. After World War II, she continued working at Hill Air Force Base for 42 years. Mom was united in marriage to our father, John E. Howell on January 4, 1947. She was preceded in death by our father; sister, Fae Biggs; brother, Wesley Hunt and her parents. She leaves behind three children, Luckie J. (Carolyn) Howell, Ogden, UT; Kevin E. (Diana) Howell, West Haven, UT; Tami S. (Bob) Parrinello, West Haven, UT; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one sister, Kathleen Bywater, Coos Bay, OR and many nieces and nephews. Mom was always very loving and giving. She always had a positive attitude and looked for the best in everyone. She was always pleasant and polite . Peterson CALDWELL, Idaho - Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Genevieve Kimber Peterson, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005 at the age of 86 due to complications from surgery. She was born September 1, 1918 in Lindon, Utah to Edward Stephen and Susan Burton Kimber. Gen was raised in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, where she attended public schools. She also attended LDS Business College and boarded at the Beehive House in Salt Lake City. She went on to work as a secretary for many years and retired from the Ogden City School District. While serving as a Ward Young Women's President in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gen met her future husband, Leatho Avol Peterson, who was the Ward Young Men's President. After some coaxing and the purchase of a new car, Lee persuaded Gen to go on a date. After a two and a half year engagement, Lee and Gen were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 15, 1953. They were blessed with two children, LeeAnn a nd Steven. Gen and Lee loved to travel and took several extended trips after their retirement. Gen had many talents and served in many capacities within the church. She was an accomplished pianist, sewer and swimmer. Gen was also active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and in Family History work. She loved to play with her grandchildren and visit with friends. A long-time resident of Ogden, Utah, Gen had recently relocated to Caldwell, Idaho to be near her daughter. She is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn (Jeff) Simmons of Caldwell, Idaho; her son, Steven (LuAnn) Peterson of South Weber; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Gen was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, her parents and two grandchildren. OGDEN - Denton Stanford Richards, 85, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital from leukemia. He was born April 19, 1918 in Carey, Idaho, the son of William Denton and Vermile Louise Stanford Richards. He married Ara Andersen on May 22, 1942 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 22, 1953. She preceded him in death. He grew up in Carey, Idaho and attended elementary school there and in Picaboo, Idaho and also in Ocean Park, California. He graduated from high school in Carey and then attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he earned a B.S. Degree in Radio Technology. He served with the U.S. Army as a veteran of World War II where he served as a Signal Corps Officer in Iran which was in the Persian Gulf Command. He then was stationed at Fort Douglas, Utah. Denton was employed b the U.S. Air Force at Hill Air Force Base as an electronic engineer for 21 years. Denton was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest. He served in various Ward and Stake positions mainly as a Clerk or Executive Secretary. Surviving are his brother, Rollo C. Richards, Orem; sister-in-law, Betty Lee Glauser, brother-in-law Dr. Stanley Andersen, San Francisco, CA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins who were close to him. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends at the Harrison Regent Retirement Center in Ogden where he lived. He was preceded in death by his wife Ara and little daughter, Abbie Louise. Stahr, Thekla Merle OGDEN - Thekla Merle Stahr, 87, of Ogden, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Crestwood Care Center. She was born October 29, 1917, in Ogden, a daughter of George S. and Lulu McChesney MacFarlane. Merle was reared in Ogden and California, graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College. On January 11, 1936, she married John Sterling Stahr in Ogden. The marriage to her eternal sweetheart was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in June of 1942. She was a member of the Ogden Jackson Ward. She held numerous church callings, including serving in many capacities in the YWMIA for over 35 years. She was always active in genealogy and taught it for 10 years. She had also resided in Seattle, Washington and Arcadia, California. Merle was a kind and loving person, and a dear friend to so many, who she made feel like they were all part of her family. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Jack. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Crestwoo d Care Center for their compassionate care. Valdez, Geraldine Garcia OGDEN - Geraldine Christina Garcia Valdez, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and aunt, passed away on March 7, 2005 of lung cancer at my sister Margaret's home in Ogden, Utah. I was born July 2, 1952 to Robert Garcia and Vera Manzanares Garcia in Monte Vista, Colorado. I was employed at Dunn's Wide Horizon for 15 years, and then I came to work for Marclean Janitorial Services, at Chromalox and Cerro Wire. I leave behind my husband of 35 years, Gilbert Valdez; my daughter Yolanda (Joey Alarid) Valdez, my two sons, Vincent Valdez, Manuel Valdez; and seven grandchildren: Nichole, Brandon, Raymond and Ruben Alarid, Pauline, Amber and Athena Valdez. Also my parents, five sisters and five brothers: Wilma (Jesse) Samora, Margaret Trujillo (Al Cantu), Shirley Rivas, Robert (Maria), Daniel (Liz), Tommy (Karen) Amadeo, John, Billy (Angie), Laurie and Amy Garcia. I was preceded in death by my brother, Jose Celis Trujillo. I would like t o thank my sister and family for all their tender loving care. I love you. Special thanks to Lisa and Hospice of Utah. Welling 82, died Saturday March 5, 2005, at the Evanston Regional Hospital. He was born November 12, 1922, Riverside, Box Elder, Utah, to Karl G. Welling and Effie Udy. On November 9, 1943 he married Kae Barlow in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. Blain enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1945 after being drafted 3 days after his marriage to Kae. Thirty days later he was inducted at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake. He was sent by troop train to Sheppard Field Texas for basic training and classification and passed pilot training. Due to a mix up in paper work he was assigned to teach gunnery school at Kingman, Arizona until released 2 years later. Blain is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as counselor in the Mutual, Scoutmaster, then in the Stake Sunday School as counselor for Five years, followed by Stake Sunday School Superintendent for five years. He was then called to serve as counselor in t he 1st Ward Bishopric for five years followed by 8 years as Bishop. He then was called into the Stake High Council where he served for two years before being called by Boyd K. Packer to be President of the Evanston Wyoming Stake at the time of the division of the Evanston Wyoming Stake and the Kemmerer, Wyoming Stake on October 15, 1975. He served as Stake President until September 22, 1984. On January 31, 1994 he was called as Patriarch to the members of the Evanston Wyoming Stake until his death. Arrived in Evanston in December 1945, operated O K Rubber Welders in Evanston. Moved his business to 101 Bear River Drive and acquired the Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Franchise in 1959. He sold insurance for Farmers Insurance Group from 1952 until his death. He is survived by his sons, Blain Jay (Brenda) Welling, Craig Barlow (Deborah) Welling, and Shad Karl (Norma) Welling all of Evanston; a brother, Don U. Welling of Evanston; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death b y his wife Kae on February 4, 2005; his parents; brother, Jack H. Welling of Plymouth, Utah, and a sister, RaNae Brough of Tremonton, Utah.
