Love, Your Family Published in the Standard-Examiner on 3/16/2005. Casterline, Marian K. CLEARFIELD - Marian Kerr Casterline, 87, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield. She was born October 25, 1917 in Wellsville, Utah, a daughter of John L. and Hazel Smith Kerr. On October 17, 1939, Marian married Leonard Casterline in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Wellsville, Lewiston, Vernal and Farmington. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2001. Marian loved taking care of her home and gardens and was proud of her heritage with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Marian is survived by her sons, Paul (Autum) and Don (LeAnn), grandson Doug (Roslynn), seven step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Lewis and John Kerr, Bertha Price, Rhea Olsen and Ranee McBride. Mom died hours before her grandson was married in California; it was the only way she could get there and she wasn't going to miss it. She is now free to rejoin her beloved Leonard. Cook, William Dee PLAIN CITY - Dee "Chick" Cook, 78, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born February 18, 1927, in Hooper, Utah, to Harvey Belnap and Jennie Afton Skeen Cook. He was raised in Plain City, where he spent his entire life. He attended Weber High School. On June 30, 1948, Dee married LaRae Berrett in the Logan LDS Temple. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Dee was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Plain City 7th Ward, where he served in various callings. He was employed at DDO for 39 years before his retirement. When Plain City was first incorporated Dee served as a member of the town council for two consecutive terms. Dee was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also a member and President of the Wasatch Slopes Cutter Association, Vice-President of the Utah State Cutter Association, and was active in Quarter Horse Racing in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada. He enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, softball and played in the All World Softball Tournament in 1951, 1952 and 1953. Dee always enjoyed attending and supporting every activity of his children and grandchildren. Dee is survived by his wife, LaRae; his children, Chris (Johnn) Engberson, Plain City; Scott (Marilyn) Cook, Plain City; Michael Cook, Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, Stacey (Chad) Christensen, Jeremy Engberson, Shane Engberson, Amy (Brad) Fillpot, Ashlee (Jake) Hannum, Casey Cook, serving a mission in Venezuela, and Aidan William Cook; a great-grandson, Kole Fillpot; and one brother, George (Charlene) Cook, Plain City and sister-in-law Dorothy Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lyman Cook and Bert Cook. Crowther, Darwin Neal MALAD, Idaho - Darwin Neal Crowther, 56, peacefully passed away Sunday morning March 13, 2005 of natural causes. He is a special soul in a special home. He was born to Edward Neal and Lila Mae Johnson Crowther on November 27, 1948 in Malad City, Idaho. He is survived by his mother, Lila Mae, of Malad. One sister, Mildred (Steve) Anderson, of Bluffdale, Utah; and two brothers, Nolan J. (Paula) Crowther of Boise, Idaho and Jared J. (Ronda) Crowther of Malad, Idaho. He has many nieces and nephews who love him dearly.He was preceded in death by his father, Neal and a brother, Bradford J. Every, Robert Lee LAYTON - Robert Lee Every, 72, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the U of U Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1932 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Arthur and Emma Raihl Every. Robert married Ruby Akelund on March 2, 1956 in Farmington. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1994. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Robert retired from HAFB as a supervisor in 1988. Surviving are two sons, Roger Curtis, Layton; Ronnie Curtis, Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Roberta (Mark), Centerville; one grandchild, brother, William (Margie), Albuquerque, NM; and sister, Alice Every, Denver, CO. Folkman, Carl R. PLAIN CITY - Carl Raymond Folkman, 88, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at a local care center. He was born December 21, 1916 in Plain City, a son of Lester George and Grace Selman Folkman. On February 13, 1942, Carl married Viola Widdison in Preston, Idaho. He was reared and educated in Plain City where he attended the Plain City Schools. Carl was a farmer and raised cattle. He loved to garden and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Carl also enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting in his younger years. Surviving are his wife, Viola, of Plain City; two sons and one daughter, Lee C. Folkman, Roy; Timothy W. (Andrea) Folkman, Farr West; Susan Raney, Ogden; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, June Willard, Liberty. Carl was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, George, Cliff and Edna. The family expresses special thanks to IHC Hospice and the many friends from Plain City for all of their help. Hoxer OGDEN - Our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Marzella Tyree Hoxer, passed away Monday, March 14, 2005 after a short illness. She was born March 17, 1918, in the home of her parents Benjamin and Bernice Nicholas Tyree. She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College where she met her dear husband, John Lindquist Hoxer III. They married September 16, 1938 and later were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Marzella was a kind and loving person who brought happiness into everyone's life who knew her. She loved to travel and took opportunities to visit some far off places like Africa, Israel, and Panama as well as many places in the United States. She was one of the founders of Chareya (service club). She cherished her friends from Chareya, her bridge club and her ceramics club. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are four children, Judy (Bob) Davis, Midway, UT; John (Mary) Hoxer IV, Flagsta ff, AZ; Richard Hoxer, Liberty, UT; David (Becky) Hoxer, Ogden; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Hoxer, and two brothers Ted and Jack Tyree. Keyes, Marjorie Beth Colt WEST HAVEN - Marjorie Beth Colt Keyes, 83, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Peach Tree Assisted Living. She was born August 26, 1921, in Ogden, a daughter of Leland John and Ada Elizabeth Burton Colt. She was a member of the first graduating class from Ogden High School in 1939. On December 25, 1941, Marjorie married Henry J. Keyes, in Uintah, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on December 17, 1964. She held various positions in the LDS Church, including Primary, Mutual,Ward and Stake Homemaking leader. Marjorie and Henry served a mission at the Ogden Genealogical library. She was also an Ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple. She enjoyed quilting, reading and crafts of all kinds. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Penny (Calvin) Adams, Hooper; grandson, David (Valorie) Dodart, Ogden; and two great-grandsons, Joseph and Hayden Dodart, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and her sister, Dorothy T homas. Madsen, Emma Hall OGDEN/MONROE, Utah - Emma Hall Madsen, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Emeritus Estates on March 15, 2005. She was born on August 2, 1909 in Hurricane, Utah, the sixth of nine children born to Arthur Wright and Adlinda DeMille Hall. She was raised in Hurricane and Monroe and graduated from South Sevier High School, then attended Snow College. Emma married Burt "Bud" Madsen of Monroe on December 20, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA. The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. They lived in Los Angeles, Monroe and Bountiful, but lived most of their married life in Boise, Idaho. Burt passed away July 20, 1976. After his death, Emma moved to Ogden where she lived the rest of her life. Emma was a member of the LDS Church. She was blessed with a musical talent and in high school was organist for her ward in Monroe and also played for the silent movies. In her later years, she loved to play her organ and enjoyed playing for others. She loved to travel and saw much of the U.S. and many foreign countries. Bridge was a favorite pastime and Emma belonged to several clubs, one for over 60 years. She was also a member of the University Women's Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Birthday Club and the Pacific Old Timers. Emma worked hard until late in her life. During WWII, she was a stock record clerk at Hill Air Force Base. She was also part owner of DeMonte's Clothing in Bountiful and worked there until she was 80 year sold. In Boise, She worked for Albertsons for 20 years. Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Burt; a son, Mac; her parents; five sisters and three brothers; a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Don (Joyce) Madsen of Hermiston, OR and Judy (Ken) Forster of Kaysville; daughter-in-law, Lorrie Madsen of Ogden; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was born June 2, 1921 in Glendale, Idaho, a daughter of Richard Jr. and Tennie Anderson Owen. She was married to LaMar Wayman who preceded her in death. She was reared and educated in Preston, Idaho and lived most of her life in the Ogden area. Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held numerous callings throughout the years. She served a two year mission in the Ogden Temple. Margaret loved taking care of her family. She also enjoyed square dancing, cooking, sewing and gardening. Surviving are eight children, Marlene Hill, Roseville, CA; Joanne (Ralph) Peterson, St. George, UT; Barbara Robinson-Carroll, Provo, UT; David L. Wayman, Ogden, UT; Margene Anderson, Bountiful, UT; Kathleen (Nicholas) Marcucci, Gig Harbor, WA; Brent M. Wayman, Ogden, UT; Steven O. (Jan) Wayman, Ogden, UT; 35 grandchildren and 32 great-gran dchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Morris Owen, Preston, ID; and Donald Owen, Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband LaMar Wayman and two sons, Kelly Wayman and Gary Hill. She was a beautiful woman with great strength and courage who exhibited unselfish devotion to her family her entire life. She was born September 13, 1951 in Brigham City, a daughter of DeVere W. and Kathleen Layton Wintle. She attended Dixie and Weber State Colleges. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rosemary worked as a cook in the restaurant business for many years. She once traveled to Europe with her twin sister on a stage production tour. Rosemary always tried to help others in their time of need. Surviving are her mother, Kathleen, one brother, William D. Wintle, and her twin sister, Rosemarie Wintle. Cremation under the direction of Lindquist's Crematory. A memorial service will take place at the Honeyville Cemetery at a later date.
