Stickney, Maurice Maurice Lee Stickney How do you say farewell to the person who put the music in your soul, the laughter in your heart, and gave you a passion for living? You taught us all what it means to love. We will miss those twinkling eyes and that contagious laugh. We choose, rather, to say til we meet again. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away suddenly on March 16, 2005 at the age of 72. Maurice, the oldest of twin boys was born on March 8, 1933 to Margarett Diantha Seeley Stickney and Joseph William Stickney in Hillsdale, Michigan. He grew up a small town country boy. He graduated from Camden Frontier High School in 1952. He joined the 101st airborne in 1953. The U.S. Army brought him to Utah where he met and married his best friend and life long sweetheart, Gloria Ann Hiatt on June 28, 1957. Maurice enjoyed camping, fishing, and hiking with his family; he knew how to live life. He was always happy and enjoyed the little things, such as busy bees, birds in his backyard, or a pretty flower, so you can imagine the joy he gave his family in their years together. He was a scoutmaster and co-leader for his daughters' Girl Scout troops. Maurice retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1993 after a career as an Electronics Technician working with missiles. Since retirement he had enjoyed wood working, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with his grandchildren. A sign in his backyard proclaims, it is never too late for a second childhood, and the train running around the back yard is proof, that for him, this was so. He loved building traditions. His delicious Christmas dinners earned him the nickname of Papa Goose from his youngest grandsons. Maurice loved playing music and singing with his wife Gloria. He played several instruments. He brought a lot of joy to others through his music. On March 14, 2005 Maurice was awarded his green belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was aspiring to become a black belt. He inspired others to live life to the fulle st, to always learn new things, and to continually grow as a human being.
