Patricia was born June 27, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Ellen Caroline Miller and Walter France Andrew, who was later killed in World War II. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Fred Whitney Andrew. On May 31, 1958 she married the love of her life, Daniel Dennis Alsup. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 7, 1959. Patricia enjoyed doing genealogy, cooking, and dancing, as well as many other talents and hobbies. She is survived by her loving husband, four children, Dorothy (Richard) Kress, Sherril (Derek) Nelson, Laurel Stubbs and Dr. Daniel (Heidi) Alsup, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving is one sister, Kathy (Kingston) West. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather, one brother, one granddaugh ter and one great-grandson. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. We love her deeply and she will be greatly missed. Burton, Kenneth Taylor OGDEN - Kenneth Taylor Burton, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the age of 91. Ken was born September 14, 1913, in Ogden, Utah, to Louis Raymond and Birdie Taylor Burton. He was the second in the family of five sons. He grew up in the Ogden area and married Elizabeth Tonks on June 12, 1937. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2002. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on November 4, 1960. He was a man of many varied interests and hobbies. He started work at the Ogden Dental Laboratory at the age of 15 working there for 50 years and retiring at age 65. He started golfing in his teens shooting his last round at the age of 89, priding himself that some years he played at least once each month, even in the winter months. He enjoyed gardening, making jewelry for family members, fishing and hunting, and dining at Javier's. Ken was an active member of the Kingston Ward. He served for many years in the Sunday School at the Ogden Industrial S chool. Ken was the ultimate neighbor, seeking to help without ever being asked. In the early 1930's he learned to fly, soloing on skis at the old Ogden Airport. He is survived by his three children, Jenee Garr, Kenneth R. (Susan) and Bonnie (Randy) Galbraith, 17 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his, parents and brothers. Dinwiddie, Lonnie James NORTH OGDEN - Lonnie James Dinwiddie, 79, passed away, Thursday, March 24, 2005, at his home of heart failure. He was born September 2, 1925, in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Rufus and Estella Dinwiddie. He enlisted in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. On April 28, 1951, Lonnie married Bonnie Jensen in China Lake, California. He worked at the Naval Ordinance Test Station in China Lake for 30 years. Lonnie retired in 1975 and fulfilled his dream of buying a farm in Fredericktown, Missouri. His years on the farm were some of his happiest. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He moved to Ogden, Utah in 1999 to be closer to family. Lonnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie; a daughter, Dana (Fred) Gundersen, Ogden, Utah; three sons, Blaine (Terri) Dinwiddie, Omaha, Nebraska; Monte (Denise) Dinwiddie, Ridgecrest, California; and Michael (Gwen) Dinwiddie, Kearney, Arizona; and 11 grandchildren, whom he loved very much. Francis, William L. (Bill) William L. (Bill) Francis, Sr. 1940 - 2005 OGDEN, 64, died peacefully Saturday, March 26, at the Washington Terrace Nursing Home after a long battle with complications from diabetes. He was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Ogden. Growing up in Ogden, Carlin, NV., and Pleasant View, Bill played little league baseball and basketball. Bill graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College. He married the former Mazie Goulding on April 14, 1962. They were later divorced. The two were the proud parents of two sons, William Francis, Jr. and Raymond Francis. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bill's hobbies included bowling, baseball and golf. He loved watching sports on television. Bill was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, arie 2472, and the Golden Spike Elks Lodge 719 in Roy. He was past exalted ruler. He appreciated a long friendship with Flora Ogan. Bill enjoyed a special friendship with Judy Nelson of O gden. He enjoyed many gatherings with her family together and his. In his career, Bill served as a chief executive, manager and a computer programmer. He was responsible for many changes and improvements in a number of government programs. Bill was employed at the Ogden Internal Revenue Service, Defense Depot Ogden where he established the MASH program, later serving as an Inspector General in Washington, D.C. He also served the federal government in Cincinnati, Memphis, Philadelphia, and retired at Hill Air Force Base. Bill is survived by his mother Mildred Vanderwerff and step-father Kenneth J. Vanderwerff of Farr West; his father William H. Francis of Tucson, Ariz.; his sister Bette (Orvid) Jeppson of Tucson, Ariz.; son Bill (JaNae) Francis, Jr.; son Raymond (LaVon) Francis; grandchildren Salina (Randy) Maxfield, Vyncent, Jessica, Heather, Kendra, Celeste, Ethan and Skyla. Judkins, Bary "BJ" Bary "BJ" Judkins passed away at home on March 24, 2005 surrounded by family and loved ones after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Bary was born on April 11, 1937 to Reed and Roselle Stewart Judkins. He was a beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is a member of the LDS church. He attended East high school where he excelled in sprots and helped his team to three football championships and two track championships. He was state champion in the 100-yard dash and the 220-yard run and set records in those events that stood for years. He then attended the University of Utah where he played football. Bary learned early his work ethic and began working in the family drapery and window covering business at the age of 13. He continued there for 40 years. His two son, Jerry and Jay have followed in his footsteps and now have their own window covering business. He was a consummate salesman and it has been said that he could sell a drowning man water . He married Gwen Peterson with whom he had nine children, they were later divorced. His children have been a source of great pride and enjoyment throughout his life. He nurtured a warm friendship with his children and enjoyed many good years spending time with them. He later married Tammy Nielsen, a loving and doting second mom to his large family. Tammy has truly been his soul mate and has shared his passion for hunting and the outdoors. They have been known to argue about who is the better shot with a deer rifle. The jury is still out on that one. Christmas parties at Bary and Tammy's house were perhaps the highlight of the year and a wonderful time to gather family. Parties were always happy, noisy and full of laughter. He loved sports and coached his sons in their long and successful sports careers. He was a passionate coach and was known for his not so subtle hand signals in little league baseball, his vocal support in basketball, and for teaching his sons to play with legendary sk ill and intensity. Two of his sons, Jeff and Jon currently coach basketball at the college level. He loved hunting, boating, and spending time at "the ranch" with his family and friends. He could fix and build anything and enjoyed projects of all kinds. He also enjoyed regular Tuesday morning breakfasts with his sons and coffee just about every day with his "coffee buds". He had a magical way with a story and could always fill a room with laughter. Though he tried, he never could make a long story short. Bary is preceded in death by his father Reed Judkins and his infant daughter Jennifer. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Tammy Nielsen Judkins, his mother Roselle Judkins, siblings Joan Varanes (Lou), Kent Judkins (Pat), Jean "Teeny" Bentley (Frank), Jill Judkins and Ren Judkins (Lani); his children Jeff Judkins (Mary Kay), Jerry Judkins (Karen), Jay Judkins (Diane), Jodi Aird (David), Jon Judkins (Lanette), Janine Wilson (Travis), Janette Warnock (Steven), Jane Gottschall (Jo hn). He has 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bary will be dearly missed. Knudsen, Ursel Ursel Knudsen 89, Passed away at Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City on March 25, 2005. Ursel was born June 11, 1915 in Dewyville to Joseph Knudsen and Myrtle Mae Eckley. Ursel lived all his life in Deweyville, he attended school at Deweyville Elementary for 8 years. Ursel married Loa Bernice Loveland on May 18, 1938. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Baseball was a love of Ursel's life. He played on many teams in Northern Utah and excelled in the sport. Ursel was a farmer in his younger years, and later worked for Box Elder County on the road department. Ursel is survived by his children: Ursel Neil Knudsen (Jean), Clinton, Utah, Joseph D. Knudsen (Karen), Deweyville, Utah, Terry E. Knudsen (Shirley), Tremonton, Utah, Colyn L. Knudsen (Pam) Deweyville, Utah. He had 12 grandchildren, 17 Great grandchildren. Layton, John Russell LAYTON - John Russell Layton, 57, passed away March 25, 2005, after a courageous fight with cancer. John was born on July 2, 1947, in Ogden Utah to Rex L. and Ruth Call Layton. He graduated with the class of 1965 from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah. He attended Utah State University where he met his wife Sherida Moss. They were married September 5, 1969, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they raised four wonderful children. John achieved many things in his life. Some of his prized achievements included an LDS mission to the Atlantic Eastern States Mission. He served in many callings with the church, including being a Bishop and member of the Stake Presidency in Aurora, Colorado. His greatest joys in life were his family and visiting the Flaming Gorge and Glen Canyon areas. He entertained any audience with his humorous stories. He had his own personal library, which grew from a love to read and learn. John was also an accomplished bluegrass banjo player. H e had a zest for life that influenced all those that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife; children, Christopher (Danyelle), Marni (Guy) Costley, Sean (Meleesa), and Russell (Melissa); sister, Lynette Kinard and seven grandchildren. John was born April 4, 1945 in Florence, So. Carolina, the oldest son of Clifford C. Moody and Vera Jean (Jean) Cozad. He graduated from Weber High in 1963. He married Marlene Ann Jimeniez, February 9, 1964. They had two sons and were later divorced. He worked at various occupations in the Weber County Community and served his country in the Marine Corps Reserves. His passion was auto racing and he excelled in many aspects of the local racing circuit. He won many awards including four years as mechanic of the year. The last team he ran with was "Bozo's Auto Wrecking" out of Salt Lake City. Since 1983, John has been a quadriplegic but still continued his activities on the racing circuit, was an avid supporter of the Americans With Disabilities Act and played basketball with the Ogden Outlaws. John is survived by his sons, Clifford Jim (Debbie) Moody, Ogden; Robert James (Ellerena) Moody of Dodge City, Kansas; mother, Jean Moody, Ogden; four brothers, Gerald Lee (Ilene) Moody, Dodge City, Kansas; James Edward Moody, Dennis Jay (Laura) Moody and Leo Allen Moody, all of Ogden; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; Jasmine, a pseudo-grandchild, and multiple nieces and nephews. Peterson, Frances Ortell Jenne Frances Ortell Jenne Peterson Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Renaissance woman passed peacefully at home, March 25, 2005. Born in McGill, Nevada, December 11, 1923 to Mark L. and Ida Belle Fronk Jenne. Attended McGill public school, graduated from White Pine High School in 1941. Attended Brigham Young University and Utah State University, graduated in 1967. She married the love of her life Earl Don Peterson August 13, 1944 in McGill. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They were happily married for over 60 years. Her Church service included Relief Society teacher, secretary, counselor and president, visiting teacher, Primary teacher and secretary. She was a substitute teacher and media coordinator at Bear River High School, and member of Tremonton Literary Guild and former member of Tremonton Civic Club. She was a life-long learner, had a quest for knowledge and traveled the world with her husband. Ortell was especially interested i n astronomy, literature and world cultures, but the real love of her life was her family and she was there for every occasion of their lives. Survivors include her husband Earl Don, two daughters and one son, Kathy Doutre, North Ogden, Janet (Glade) Hess, Provo, Kerry (Tammy) Peterson, West Valley. Five grandchildren, Ken (Lori) Doutre, Farr West, Kerry (Heather) Doutre, Harrisville, Natalie, Tiffany and David Hess, Provo. Roberts, Ailene Bright "Ann" OGDEN - Ailene (Ann) Bright Roberts, 79, passed away Friday, March 25, 2005 at her home in Ogden, of causes incident to age. She was born April 27, 1925 in Bradfordsville, Kentucky, a daughter of Stanley and Nora Rakes Bright. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was raised and educated in Kentucky, later marrying and moving to Utah. She later divorced and devoted her life to rearing her children. Mom worked very hard all her life retiring from Pacific Chromolox. Mom enjoyed having her family home for dinner, watching the Jazz play and listening to her scanner. Her philosophy of life was working hard, paying her bills on time, and staying out of debt. She always had a pot of soup on the stove and room for one more. Her children and grandchildren will miss her greatly. She is survived by her ten children: Juanita "Pee Wee" Orton, Ogden; Sue (Lonnie) Garner, Layton; Barbara (Brent) Frost, Farr West; Kathy (Ron) Thompson, Ogden; Charles (Tamara) Ro berts, Syracuse; Wayne (Vickie) Roberts, Plain City; Jim Roberts, Kentucky; Ron (Jill) Roberts, Roy; Glen (Wendy) Roberts, Ogden; Toby (Teresa) Roberts, North Ogden; 31 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Thomas, Inez PRESTON, IDAHO - Inez Mary Reeve Thomas, 91, former Honeyville, Utah resident, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the Frankin County Nursing Home in Preston. She was born the third of five children to Albert George Reeve Jr. and Abigail Beatrice Cullen at Bear River City, Utah, on August 22, 1913. She grew up in the Bear River City area and graduated from Brigham City High School in 1931. She married John Harold Thomas on November 25, 1932. They lived in Tremonton, Brigham City, California, and Honeyville. They were the parents of four children. Inez had several different occupations including ten years with the Defense Depot in Ogden, and as a seamstress for American Sportswear in Brigham City for ten years. She loved to cook, do ceramics, and crocheting. Her favorite past time was to quilt: she had many, many quilts and donated them to several individuals and organizations. She gave each of her grandchildren a homemade quilt. She served for seventeen years as t he quilting chairman for the Honeyville Ward Relief Society. She and Huck spent many hours fishing on reservoirs throughout Idaho and Utah. Huck passed away in 1990, and in 1996, Inez sold her home and moved to Preston to be closer to her daughter. While in Preston, she served on the board of the Franklin County Senior Citizens and she enjoyed many hours quilting with the Pink Ladies. She was an active member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers and a member of the Sacagawea Camp. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, John Gardell Thomas, Roy, Utah; Joelynne Hunsaker, Pocatello, Idaho; Stanford Albert (Carolyn) Thomas, McKinleyville, California; Saundra Hubbard, Preston; twenty-five grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and by her brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Mary Lou Thompson, Tremonton, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers and sisters, and by two sons-in-law, and a daughter-in-law.
