She was born October 8, 1924 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of Harry and Frances Elizabeth Roe Dunkle. On July 6, 1952, Kathryn married Jack Forest Blum in Steubenville, Ohio. She was raised and educated in Steubenville, Ohio where she lived until 1985. She moved to New Port Richey, Florida and resided there until 2001 when she moved to the Ogden area. She had been the owner and operator of The Hub Clothing Store in Toronto, Ohio. Kathryn was active in volunteer work. She loved to golf and enjoyed playing cards, knitting, landscaping, entertaining, and her dogs. Surviving are her husband, Jack, of Farr West; two daughters, Dona (Don) Sellers, North Ogden; Claudia (Dan) Martinette, Hopedale, OH; two granddaughters, Erin Schock, North Ogden; Lindsey Call, Ogden; grandson, James Martinette, Hopedale, OH; great-grandson, Kyler Call, great-granddaughter, Ahbury Call, and her bel oved pet and loyal friend, Mesami. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Charles Levinson, her brother, Robert J. Dunkle, and her aunt, Helen Roe McCartney. Brimhall, Kermit Eugene Kermit Eugene Brimhall OGDEN - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, finished his last work on this earth, Monday, March 28, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. He died of natural causes at the age of 81. Kerm was born July 18, 1923, in Vernal, Utah, to Jenny Bowthorpe and Earl Brimhall. He married the love of his life, Myrna Nayon Smuin, on November 10, 1954. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2004. He was a general contractor and heavy equipment operator, building and developing in the Davis and Weber County area for 40 years. He loved to camp, hunt and fish, and to spend time outdoors with his family and friends. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, he spent several years as a Scoutmaster in West Point and helped many young men earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He had many fond memories of his work with the Boy Scouts. His favorite past t ime was helping anyone in need of fixing or building anything. He was always available to help someone in need. He is remembered for his generosity, kindness, honesty and strength. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nayon; three daughters, Jeri Daines, Ogden; Rea Jane Brimhall, Salt Lake City; Tami (Mike) Draper, South Weber; three sons, Joseph (Ami), Camas, Washington; Jeff (Carrie), West Point; Brent (Terri), Clinton; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Keith (Mariam), Ogden; and a sister, Mary (William) Backus, Clinton. Burton, Kenneth Taylor OGDEN - Kenneth Taylor Burton, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the age of 91. Ken was born September 14, 1913, in Ogden, Utah, to Louis Raymond and Birdie Taylor Burton. He was the second in the family of five sons. He grew up in the Ogden area and married Elizabeth Tonks on June 12, 1937. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2002. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on November 4, 1960. He was a man of many varied interests and hobbies. He started work at the Ogden Dental Laboratory at the age of 15 working there for 50 years and retiring at age 65. He started golfing in his teens shooting his last round at the age of 89, priding himself that some years he played at least once each month, even in the winter months. He enjoyed gardening, making jewelry for family members, fishing and hunting, and dining at Javier's. Ken was an active member of the Kingston Ward. He served for many years in the Sunday School at the Ogden Industrial S chool. Ken was the ultimate neighbor, seeking to help without ever being asked. In the early 1930's he learned to fly, soloing on skis at the old Ogden Airport. He is survived by his three children, Jenee Garr, Kenneth R. (Susan) and Bonnie (Randy) Galbraith, 17 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his, parents and brothers. Dabel, Bruce Allen Bruce Allan Dabel OGDEN - Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 25, 2005, at the age of 57. Although faced with the challenge of heart failure since birth, Bruce lived life with humor and optimism. He endeared others with his teasing and laughter. He freely gave love and affection. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed helping others. He will be greatly missed. Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane McKee, and his first wife of 20 years, Georgia Ann Morris. He is survived by his wife of nine years, Margaret Ann Taylor, his father, Vernon Dabel, and his dear mother who raised him, Lydia H. Hokanson. He is also survived by his children, John, Richard, Harold and Becky, as well as one brother, five sisters, seven step-children, 21 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. DeGraw, Enid Enid Porter DeGraw "The Little Lady" 1913 - 2005, 91, died peacefully on Easter morning, March 27, 2005 in Salt Lake City with her loving husband at her side. She was born December 3, 1913 in Porterville, Utah to Byron and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Porter. She married Alma Wayne DeGraw in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1936. He lovingly watched over her as her primary caregiver up to her last moment. Enid loved to spend time with her family, especially going on motorhome rides with them. She went swimming with her daughter, JoAnne, almost daily for 25 years, up until age 90. She served as secretary in the Relief Society for many years. She also served as secretary in the Primary and Sunday school. She had great love for children. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for many years and enjoyed attending their meetings. She is survived by her husband; sister, Merlynn Olsen; sons, Alma Lynn (JoAnne), Jerald Wayne (Sandy); daughters, JoAnne Mason, Kathy (Lee) Cragun, Sharon (Howard) Vickers; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer Royal, Glendon Clark, Joseph Verle, Dale Robinson, and a sister, Mary Maurine. He was born July 31, 1929 in Steuben, Maine the son of Forrester Fickett and Lottie Stanley. He married Alline Odd on May 5, 1951, in Kaysville, who preceded him in death on April 20, 1987. He was a member of the L.D.S. Layton Ward and was a recent convert. He was a faithful and loyal home teacher. He loved to be in service of those in need. Norman served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a true blue patriotic Republican. He was active in the V.F.W., American Legion and served as past President of the Eagles. He also worked in cub and boy scouts. Norman enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and woodwork. He loved to travel and had a great love for working on cars. He was known for his sense of humor and a unique perspective of life. Howard graduated from East High School and attended Salt Lake Community College. Howard married Maria Martha Prahl on February 1, 1939 in Farmington. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 25, 1965. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the Layton Eagles for many years. Howard enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, gardening, hunting, square dancing, bowling, walking and spending time with his family. Fisher, Velma Munn Velma Munn Fisher 9/29/1918 - 3/28/2005 WEST POINT - On Monday, March 28, our beautiful angelic mother, Velma Irene Munn Fisher, returned home to God and her savior whom she loves. She was a queenly example of kindness, purity, love, charity and patience to all. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone, and was not capable of guile. She is very dear to all her children and grandchildren. We will sorely miss her sweet presence, but are thankful her final trial is finished. We know a grand reunion of loving family and friends is taking place in heaven. Joy will be hers, and she will be especially happy to see her Blaine. Velma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, serving faithfully in many positions in Sunday School, Relief Society, Primary and MIA. She was employed in the grocery business for numerous years. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Blaine Fisher. They were married December 16, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple, and were together for 63 years. Two grandsons, Adam Fisher and Ryan Furness, also preceded her in earthly graduation. She is survived by her six children, Dan (Merle) Fisher, Kathleen (Mike) Furness, Mary Denhalter, Patricia (Tom) Regan, Mike (Becky) Fisher, and David Fisher, 20 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Holmes, age 87, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 27th, of causes incident to age. He chose Easter Sunday to pass through the veil. He was born October 17, 1917 in Wilson Lane, to Gideon and Lenora Holmes. Ralph was raised in Harper and graduated from Box Elder High School. He was an Eagle Scout. On November 21, 1939, Ralph married Maxine Orme in the Logan Temple. He served in the Army during World War II, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Ralph loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his brothers and grandsons. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church and served in many callings. He is survived by his wife Maxine, five daughters, Sherlene Wood, Barbara Blackwood, Georgia (Lee) Warren, Irene (Rod) Genta, and Lorraine Martinez; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lloyd Holmes and three sisters, Joyce Johnson, Karma Wood, and Nora Rasmussen. Mann, Mescal LAYTON - Mescal Mann age 80, passed away Monday March 28, 2005 after battling diabetes, and recent complications from a stroke. Meck was born February 15, 1925 in Crossville, Tennessee to William Andrew Hamby and Edna Ella Myatt. She was one of four brothers and four sisters. On October 10, 1943 Meck married Blish Leonard Mann, from Mitchell, Indiana. The marriage took place in Cincinnati, Ohio. In October of 1985 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple. Meck was a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Layton 10th Ward, and more recently of the Rocky Mountain Chancellor Branch. Meck spent her life as a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed the many hours she spent at the Heritage Senior Center, and the friends she made there. She especially enjoyed being part of their singing group. Also, while there she made many beautiful ceramic pieces. Surviving are her son, Braden (Bonnie) of Syracuse; grandson, Travis (Melissa) of R oy; granddaughter, Tara of Salt Lake City; two great-grandsons, Jake Travis and Houston; great-granddaughter, Safari; and two sisters, Katherine Beglarian, Joanne Beckstead; and one brother, Thomas Hamby; and one sister-in-law, Maxine Hamby, all of Salt Lake City; also, many nieces and nephews. Moon, Ruth Hansen Wendel Ruth Hansen Wendel Moon 1919 - 2005 Our precious mom passed away on a beautiful Easter Sunday afternoon of causes incident to age. She was born August 10, 1919 to Nels Leo and Lillie Amelia Hansen in Brigham City, Utah where she spent a happy childhood on the family farm with her 5 siblings. She was a graduate of Box Elder High School. She later married her high school sweetheart, Ernest Wendel. They had two daughters, Pat and Bev. Ruth became a widow at the age of 31 and supported herself and her girls in Bountiful, Utah until 1958 when she married Herald Moon of Farmington, combining their families which then numbered eight children. Ruth and Herald spent many happy years together until his passing in 1995. Ruth and Herald had the opportunity to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Blackwell, Oklahoma and also served as temple workers. They enjoyed traveling, including visits to Russia and the Holy Lands. She was employed with the Davis County School District and loved her monthly luncheons with the retired "school girls". She also enjoyed membership in the D.U.P. and Farmington Literary Club. Her loved of children was evidenced in her favorite church position as Jr. Sunday School Coordinator. She later volunteered at Knowlton Elementary, where she loved the little children with whom she would read. Thank you Sandy Holman for making her a part of your class. Ruth enjoyed working in her yard, crocheting and cooking. She is remembered for her homemade rolls, ice cream and fudge. The family wishes to thank her loving ward members and friends for the many kindesses and her niece, Jolene Rausch for taking such good care of Mom for the past year and a half. She is survived by her children, Joanne Tuttle (Don), H. Brent Moon (Valerie), currently serving a mission in Ukraine, Stephen H. He was born April 9, 1915 in Riverdale, Utah, a son of Edwin B. and Ella Elmer Parker. He was raised in Riverdale and spent his growing up years helping on the family farm with his father and brother. He attended school in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School. Mike married Faye Adams on December 27, 1941 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized on June 17, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married 63 years. Mike was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest and had been a Ward Teacher. He loved his family, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Hazen and Sylvie Adams. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved his country and served proudly. Mike worked 30 years at the Defense Depot Ogden as a supervisor. He was well liked by his fellow employees. S urviving are his wife of Washington Terrace, one daughter, Carol (David) McFarland, Roy; and one grandson, Michael (Catherine) McFarland, Roy. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Ella Jean, his parents, and the rest of his 10 brothers and sisters. He will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Shirley Mae Salerno, at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah. Robert is survived by his daughters and sons Robert Joe Salerno, Jr., Judy Kohrell, Debbie Reese, Scott Salerno, Michael Salerno, along with 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Robert served his country in the United States Air Force for 25 years and was a civil servant for the next 28 years. He was a loving father and husband. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time bowling with his sweet wife. He was a giving father and friend and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him. Schoss, Loren Loren Tueller Schoss OGDEN, 85, died Thursday, March 24, 2005 of pneumonia and aortic stenosis. He was born March 10, 1919 in Geneva, Idaho to Fred W. Schoss and Viola R. Tueller. His mother died a month after his birth and he was raised by his father and stepmother, Rose. He was reared and educated in Ogden. On April 9, 1940, He married Eldora Glee Pence. They were later divorced. He married Delone F. Mohr on May 31, 1968 in Logan, Utah. He was a member of the LDS Church. He served during WWII in the Army Ordinance Corp in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a licensed electrician and was associated with Schoss Electric Company. He had an electrical and feed business in Overton, Nevada. He worked for the Lake Crystal Salt Company, Ogden Ford Sales, Univac and Cutter Lab. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Delarel, Vern, and Ferrin. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Donna Hall and three step-children, Gerald (Sandi) Mohr, Janice (Gary) High and Ke ith (Tammie) Mohr. He has ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Carey, JoAn (Edward) Poll. EDEN - Margaret Grow Stallings, 83, our angel mother, died at home on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, of causes incident to age. She devoted her entire life to caring for her husband and family, especially her son George. She was born September 12, 1921 in Huntsville, a daughter of Charles Isaac and Adelia Abbott Grow, and was reared in Huntsville with her four older brothers. She graduated from Weber High and Weber Seminary. As a teenager she worked in the tomato factory in North Ogden. She also worked as a telephone operator in Huntsville and then in Dr. Dumke's office after graduation. Margaret married Lowell Stallings in 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Eden where together they built a registered Holstein dairy farm of 70 cows. Even though she never felt like she was a farm girl at heart, she drove flat bed trucks for hay haulers and then cooked dinner for the crew. She was always feeding someone. Lowell died January 11, 2005. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Eden 1st Ward and served many years in the Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed doing family genealogy and extraction work. Margaret loved music, especially playing hymns on the piano. She had a lot of energy and was the first to have her laundry out on the clothes line on wash day. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She crocheted many beautiful tablecloths and was also an avid reader. Surviving are her children: George Stallings, Eden; Jan (Richard) Wight, Ogden; Sharon (Brad) Vause, Eden; Sandra (Dave) Jenkins, Eden; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Dale Grow, Ogden; and Douglas (Beatrice) Grow, San Clemente, CA. The family would like to thank Seini Moeaki and IHC Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Eden/Huntsville Stake Center, 6450 East 1900 North.
