Betty M. Booth OGDEN - Our sweet mother, grandma, sister and friend, Betty Maisey Booth, departed from this earthly life, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, May 4, 2005. She joins her eternal companion Harry. Betty was born November 6, 1921 in Garland, Utah, a daughter of Daniel Lovell and Priscilla Gibbs Maisey. She graduated from North Cache High School and continued her education at the Thomas Dee Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with the class of 1943. She married the love of her life, Harry, on December 30, 1943, in Portland, Oregon. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on February 7, 1963. They created a home filled with love and learning for their seven children: Jeffrey (Barbara) Booth, Gregory (Rita) Booth, Cheryl (Reed) Loveland, Stanley Booth, Colleen (John) Starley, Jeri (Doug) Malan, and Paul (Sheryl) Booth. She was lovingly known as Grandma Betty to 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Betty enjoyed being a surgical nurse and shared h er talent as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and taught civil defense classes. She loved to learn; always studying and progressing. She graduated from the LDS Institute of Religion in 1984. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family, friends and her Heavenly Father. The gospel of Jesus Christ was the guiding force in her life. She fulfilled each church calling she received to the best of her ability and especially enjoyed serving in the St. George and Ogden temples. She and Harry served in the California Arcadia Mission from 1985-86. She created beauty throughout her life which she shared with her family through ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed golf and bridge. Thank you to her many friends who have blessed her life throughout the years - including two special people who made her last months more enjoyable - Julie and Ruby. She is survived by her children; brothers Theo (Ruth) Maisey, Bill (Relva) Maisey; sister Melba Balls, and sisters- in-law Jean Maisey and Joan Maisey. Preceding her in death were her husband; brothers Glen Maisey, Don Maisey, and Fawn Maisey. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Jeffrey Booth of the Forest Green Ward officiating. Gregory, Cecelia Mary Cecelia Mary Gregory OGDEN - Mrs. Cecelia Mary Gregory, 82, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in Ogden. She was born December 22, 1923 in Fortran, Texas, a daughter of James and Frances Viola Squire Middlebrook. While in Texas Cecelia met Robert F. Gregory, her husband and companion for the last 63 years She was an Air Force wife and spent most her life following her husband around the world from Air Force Base to Air Force Base. Cecelia lived in Europe, Japan and all over the United States. She was very active in the Red Cross and with the Camp Fire Girls. Cecelia loved to paint and play bridge. Cecelia moved back to Utah in 1995 to be with her daughter and her family, who she loved very much and always cherished her time spent with them. Cecelia is survived by her husband, Lt. Col (Ret) Robert F. Gregory; daughter, Jacque (Jim) Wilson; two grandchildren, Jeri ( Johnny) Gullo and Jim (Becky) Wilson. Six great-grandchildren, Jordan Gullo, Mason Wilson, Dalton Gullo, Kaden Wilson, Courtney Wilson, and Slater Wilson. Also surviving is one sister, Mildred Toups, Texas City, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her brother. Hall, Edna Ione Edna Ione Hall OGDEN - Edna Ione Hall died peacefully at her home in Ogden, Utah on Sunday, May 1, 2005. Ione, as she was known to her friends, was born May 25, 1921 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, daughter of Lawrence E. and Edna M. Elliott. She spent her childhood years in Santa Fe and Roswell, New Mexico, graduating from Roswell High School in 1940. She attended the University of Oklahoma until her studies were interrupted by World War II and marriage to the love of her life, Ora R. (Dick) Hall, Jr. They were married January 1, 1942 and celebrated 54 years together as partners, parents and friends until his death in 1996. Following the war, she and her husband founded and managed the Federal Abstract Company of Santa Fe, New Mexico. They continued as partners in a variety of business ventures in Roswell, New Mexico from 1958 to 1970, when they "retired" to Ogden, Utah. In Ogden, they pursued additional business endeavors through the establishment of Elliott-Hall Company with their childre n as partners. Over the years, Ione and Dick maintained homes near Vallecitos, New Mexico; Litchfield Park, Arizona; Jackson, Wyoming; and Island Park, Idaho where they enjoyed their passions for golf, bridge, fishing, cooking, gardening, horse racing, savoring the wonders of nature and sharing good times with family and friends. A gifted cook, Ione could put a delicious meal on the table on short notice for all who happened to gather. Ione raised her children in the Episcopal faith and volunteered much support to St. Andrew's Church in Roswell, New Mexico, Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden, Utah and St. Peter's Church in Litchfield Park, Arizona. She instilled in her children values of tolerance, patience, acceptance and generosity of spirit, and she encouraged them to choose to march to the sound of their own drummer. Aside from her own children, throughout her life she thoughtfully mentored teenagers and adults too numerous to count, earning their trust and easing their burdens wit h wry humor, a quieting voice and timeless wisdom. She shared with her children and grandchildren a deep love of animals of all kinds, but especially horses, dogs and cats. Ione lived a life of community and civic service. From Cub Scouts to Girl Scouts, library boards to public arts organizations, she was always willing to volunteer her time and talents. As secretary of the Pecos Valley Horseman's Association she was the heart and soul of horse shows and rodeos for many years. She often served as a volunteer election judge and was proud to have voted in every election since 1942. She is survived by three children: Mary Ann Miller (Ken) of West Haven, Utah; Patricia Ione Weckel (Billy) of Deming, New Mexico; and George Elliott Hall (Mary) of Ogden, Utah. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Elizabeth June Fry of Pleasant View, Utah, and a son, Lawrence Jackson Hall of Austin, Texas. The family wishes to express their heart-felt appreciation for the incredibly tender care provided by Bea Shupe, Sesiu and Tony Moeaki and to the healthcare professionals of McKay-Dee Hospital and IHC Hospice. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Avenue in Ogden, Utah. Allred Holden Harris"DANCING AGAIN" On May 2, 2005 our sweet angel went to be with our Dad, her Dad and Mom, and her baby boy Jimmy. She was the most wonderful loving and giving Mom (and person) we could have had. We love you so very much Mom. Mom was born to Bertie P. Allred and Ada E. Garner on March 19, 1918, in Oakley Basin, Cassia, Idaho. She went to school in Fielding, Utah. Ruby married John H. Holden (Jack) on May 22, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had four children. Jack died on February 1, 1975. Mom was sealed to Dad on Dec 13, 1978. On March 6, 1981 she married Oley Harris. Mom and Dad loved to dance and be with their grandchildren and go camping. Mom loved to sew, work in her yard, and raspberry patch. She had work at Utah Tailoring and Weber State College. Ruby is survived by her children Elaine and Max Covey, Carolyn and Donald Tallman, Norman and Karen Holden, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren with one on the way in August, a very special step-daughter and her husband, Jenny and Ken Peterson, a son in-law Douglas Tallman, a foster son Stanley Leach, a brother, Kenneth Allred, and a sister Evelyn Robison. Ruby was preced in death by Dad, her parents, baby boy Jimmy, great grandson, Rayn Streeper, six brothers, one sister and Oley. A special thanks to her granddaughter Kelly and Ron who she lived with for over a year. The Gardens and Crestwood Care Centers for taking such loving care of mom. Once upon a memory, someone wiped away a tear, held me close and loved me. Thank you, mother dear. Hoover, Johnny Wayne Johnny Wayne Hoover Our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend Johnny Wayne Hoover passed away May 2, 2005 in his home unexpectedly. He was born November 27, 1954 to Lillian Lynch Hoover in Douglas Cochise, AZ. He leaves behind his wife Norma of 29 years, 4 children, John, Paul, and Autumn all of Ogden, and Amber of California. He is survived by four brothers and one sister. He was employed by Wrights Screen Printing and Signs Inc. and Grizzly Graphic's for 12 years. He was a very dedicated hard worker and he loved his job. We would like to thank Kenny and Debbie for all their love and support. Johnny had many hobbies, but most of all was a man with a very big heart and was always there for everyone who needed his help. Okawa, Takeshi Takeshi Okawa Taxi SYRACUSE - Takeshi Okawa passed away Monday evening surrounded by his family. He was born February 22, 1924 to Kakutaro and Run Okawa in Syracuse, Utah He married Ayako Shibata in Yokohama, Japan and returned to Syracuse and together they worked as farmers until he began working as an insurance salesman and then began his own Insurance Agency. All of his friends and family knew him as Taxi, he was a devoted husband, father and brother. His family constantly depended on him as the greatest source of strength. He loved his family and proved his dedication throughout his entire life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and fishing on weekends in Logan Canyon. He was very involved with his community where he has been a past president of the Syracuse Lions Club. Taxi also spent many wonderful years supporting the Japanese community as an active member of the Hot Springs Judo Club, Shizuoka Kei Yu Kai, Farm Bureau and Japanese Farmers Association. His dedication and friendship has earned him many strong and loyal friends. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by a daughter, Noriene Jee (Kenneth) and one granddaughter, Alexandrea; sisters, Hatasuye Sasaki, Setsuko Ono, Akiko Okawa, June Murata, and Ruthe Okawa; and a brother, Kay Okawa. She was born April 24, 1924 in Logan, the daughter of Joseph and Clara Anderson. Carol married Joseph H. Genta (deceased), Raymond T. Genta (deceased), James R. Perdue (deceased). She was a true pioneer and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Carol lived for sewing, crafts, quilting, camping, and humanitarian service. Surviving are two brothers, Joseph W. (Dorthey), and Marvin (Thea) Anderson; four sisters, Jane Pixton, Eutona (Lee) Dixon, Effie (Don) McCarthy, and Sally (Gary) Maxfield; three sons, Rodney (Irene), Harland, and Wayne (Barbara) Genta; two daughters, Carol Jo Genta, and Minnie (Brent) Larsen, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Perry, Nadine Nadine Joyce Tauro PerrySYRACUSE - After almost a year of missing her beloved husband, our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend returned home to join her soul mate on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Nadine Joyce Tauro Perry was born April 29, 1926 in Ogden, Utah, to Antone Tauro and Carrie Owen. She grew up in Ogden with one sister, Colleen and attended Ogden High School. Nadine married the love of her life, Ralph Perry November 9, 1946. She worked for American Canning, Max Factor, and Clover Club. Nadine was a true friend with a gift for conversation. Usually the smallest in size, her presence was the largest in any room. She was honest and loving and enjoyed visitors. She loved crocheting and almost every neighbor or family member has an afghan, baby blanket, doll, or doily created from her loving hands. She loved going to lunch with her friends and shopping especially for jewelry with which she was always adorned. She enjoyed decorating for all holidays and baking candy. We all remember Christmases and can't get our divinity and fudge to turn out quite the same, or our lights hung just so. Her favorite past times were camping and fishing and would fish for hours usually catching the most. What she lived for was her family and taking care of her loving husband who has been waiting for her. Surviving are her four children, Lynda Mann, Syracuse; Lynn (Marion), Clinton; Steve (Toni), Tremonton; Brent (Gloria), North Ogden; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Colleen (Roy) Coxey, Washington Terrace; and many friends. Preceding her in death are her husband, Ralph Perry, her son-in-law, Stewart Mann, her daughter-in-law, Kathy Perry, two grandchildren, Trudy and Tracy Perry and her parents. Edward J. White Grandpa HUNTSVILLE - On May 5, 1913 in New York City, Edward Joseph White was born to Joseph and Anna White. He passed away on May 3, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Edward married Mary V. Crummey on September 19, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. They were blessed with five sons and two daughters. Edward worked on Wall Street and Brewster International Aircraft Co. He also played minor league baseball for the Brooklyn Dodger Organization. He was an officer during World War II serving in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was stationed at the Utah General Depot in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He accepted a position as a civilian in the Depot's Engineering Division that same year. Apart from a short stint in the Chief of Engineer's Office in Washington, DC, Ed worked for the Defense Depot Ogden until his retirement in 1973, making Utah his family's home. Thanks Dad. He also retired from the Utah State Liquor Control Commission. Edward wa s a devout member of the Catholic Church where he volunteered and held many church positions. He was most proud of being a Eucharistic Minister at both St. James and St. Florence parishes. He was involved in scouting and Little League Baseball. He was also a very big part of his grandchildren's lives, which included being a leader in the North Ogden Junior Posse. It was said he was the best tractor driver around. The Posse members as well as their parents affectionately referred to him as Grandpa. He is survived by his wife Mary of Huntsville; daughters Mary Anne (Roger) Fletcher, Huntsville; Kathleen (Samuel) Johnson, Houston, TX; sons Tomas White, Ixtapa, Mexico; and Dan White of Ogden; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who all adored him! He was preceded in death by his sons Edward, Billy and Jimmy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Edward's name to Hearts for Hospice. He was a record-holding track star and athlete at Ben Lomond High School. He loved being of service to others and was loved by everyone who knew him.
