Betty M. Booth OGDEN - Our sweet mother, grandma, sister and friend, Betty Maisey Booth, departed from this earthly life, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, May 4, 2005. She joins her eternal companion Harry. Betty was born November 6, 1921 in Garland, Utah, a daughter of Daniel Lovell and Priscilla Gibbs Maisey. She graduated from North Cache High School and continued her education at the Thomas Dee Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with the class of 1943. She married the love of her life, Harry, on December 30, 1943, in Portland, Oregon. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on February 7, 1963. They created a home filled with love and learning for their seven children: Jeffrey (Barbara) Booth, Gregory (Rita) Booth, Cheryl (Reed) Loveland, Stanley Booth, Colleen (John) Starley, Jeri (Doug) Malan, and Paul (Sheryl) Booth. She was lovingly known as Grandma Betty to 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Betty enjoyed being a surgical nurse and shared h er talent as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and taught civil defense classes. She loved to learn; always studying and progressing. She graduated from the LDS Institute of Religion in 1984. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family, friends and her Heavenly Father. The gospel of Jesus Christ was the guiding force in her life. She fulfilled each church calling she received to the best of her ability and especially enjoyed serving in the St. George and Ogden temples. She and Harry served in the California Arcadia Mission from 1985-86. She created beauty throughout her life which she shared with her family through ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed golf and bridge. Thank you to her many friends who have blessed her life throughout the years - including two special people who made her last months more enjoyable - Julie and Ruby. She is survived by her children; brothers Theo (Ruth) Maisey, Bill (Relva) Maisey; sister Melba Balls, and sisters- in-law Jean Maisey and Joan Maisey. Preceding her in death were her husband; brothers Glen Maisey, Don Maisey, and Fawn Maisey. Carrigan, Betty Betty Carrigan Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) McMullin Carrigan, 87, passed away on May 4, 2005 at her home in Midvale, UT. She was born on March 29, 1918 in Midvale to LeRoy McMullin and Anna Margaret Lehman. After graduating from Jordan High School and LDS Business School, Betty worked for New York Life Insurance until marrying Leslie Rawle Carrigan on June 12, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Throughout her years, Betty filled her life with joy and service including 13 years teaching 4H. She also served as Primary President, MIA President, Relief Society President, on stake boards of Relief Society and Ward Organist and Music Coordinator. After serving a mission with Leslie in Rochester, New York in 1982-83, she served for many years in the Jordan River Temple and the Church History Museum; serving in the temple was a particular joy in her life. Betty is survived by daughters: Pat Hancox (Maitland), Joan Smith (Lee), Claudia Davis (Hugh), Coleen Driskill, Susan Holt (Rick), and Lesli kae Thomas (Greg); 27 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; and her brother, Robert L. McMullin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 1 p.m. in the Midvale 1st Ward Chapel, 305 W. 7500 S., Midvale. He was born February 5, 1969 in Ogden, the son of William A. and Susan M. Parkinson Froerer. He worked for Bill Good Marketing as a computer programmer until his diagnosis. In spite of his handicaps, Will was a computer genius - always dreaming up new ideas, programs and business ventures. He had learned three technical computer languages before he graduated from high school when the personal computers were just coming into popularity. Will also loved writing poetry, listening to classical music and hanging around with his cat. "For what is it to die but to stand in the wind and melt into the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides that it may rise and seek God unencumbered?" Author Unknown. Surviving are his parents, his grandmother Delores Poorman, one brother Dan (Amy) Froerer, three sisters, Kristen Froerer, Jeni (Mic hael) Young, Audrey (John) Riqueros, five nephews and three nieces. Will was preceded in death by one brother, William P. Wogan, one nephew Spencer L. Froerer and grandparents Lee and Doris Parkinson, James Poorman, and Frederick and Myra Froerer. She died calmly of natural causes. She was born February 17, 1926 in Logan, a daughter of Ike and Myrtle Muir Quinney. She was a graduate of Ogden High School. Cleo married our father on December 15, 1944. Together they raised four children, Michael Gomez, Dennis Gomez, Cherie (Don) VanCamp, and Cindy (Scott) Lockwood. From their children they were gifted with 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Cleo was one of the strongest and most beautiful women we knew. She was smart, quick-witted, and the best cook ever. She endured many hardships. She experienced true love and witnessed a few miracles. She looked forward to planting flowers in her gardens and the return of her humming birds each spring. Cleo found peace sitting by her waterfall and enjoying time with her family. She especially loved her pets, Misty and Diablo. Our mother was preceded in dea th by her mother, Myrtle Quinney, her husband Jack J. Gomez, and her son Dennis A. Gomez. We love and miss your loving and compassionate spirit, our blue eyed beauty. Thanks to all the staff at Alliance Hospice for their compassionate care. Gregory, Cecelia Mary Cecelia Mary Gregory OGDEN - Mrs. Cecelia Mary Gregory, 82, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in Ogden. She was born December 22, 1923 in Fortran, Texas, a daughter of James and Frances Viola Squire Middlebrook. While in Texas Cecelia met Robert F. Gregory, her husband and companion for the last 63 years She was an Air Force wife and spent most her life following her husband around the world from Air Force Base to Air Force Base. Cecelia lived in Europe, Japan and all over the United States. She was very active in the Red Cross and with the Camp Fire Girls. Cecelia loved to paint and play bridge. Cecelia moved back to Utah in 1995 to be with her daughter and her family, who she loved very much and always cherished her time spent with them. Cecelia is survived by her husband, Lt. Col (Ret) Robert F. Gregory; daughter, Jacque (Jim) Wilson; two grandchildren, Jeri ( Johnny) Gullo and Jim (Becky) Wilson. Six great-grandchildren, Jordan Gullo, Mason Wilson, Dalton Gullo, Kaden Wilson, Courtney Wilson, and Slater Wilson. Also surviving is one sister, Mildred Toups, Texas City, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her brother. Hall, Edna Ione Edna Ione Hall OGDEN - Edna Ione Hall died peacefully at her home in Ogden, Utah on Sunday, May 1, 2005. Ione, as she was known to her friends, was born May 25, 1921 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, daughter of Lawrence E. and Edna M. Elliott. She spent her childhood years in Santa Fe and Roswell, New Mexico, graduating from Roswell High School in 1940. She attended the University of Oklahoma until her studies were interrupted by World War II and marriage to the love of her life, Ora R. (Dick) Hall, Jr. They were married January 1, 1942 and celebrated 54 years together as partners, parents and friends until his death in 1996. Following the war, she and her husband founded and managed the Federal Abstract Company of Santa Fe, New Mexico. They continued as partners in a variety of business ventures in Roswell, New Mexico from 1958 to 1970, when they "retired" to Ogden, Utah. In Ogden, they pursued additional business endeavors through the establishment of Elliott-Hall Company with their childre n as partners. Over the years, Ione and Dick maintained homes near Vallecitos, New Mexico; Litchfield Park, Arizona; Jackson, Wyoming; and Island Park, Idaho where they enjoyed their passions for golf, bridge, fishing, cooking, gardening, horse racing, savoring the wonders of nature and sharing good times with family and friends. A gifted cook, Ione could put a delicious meal on the table on short notice for all who happened to gather. Ione raised her children in the Episcopal faith and volunteered much support to St. Andrew's Church in Roswell, New Mexico, Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden, Utah and St. Peter's Church in Litchfield Park, Arizona. She instilled in her children values of tolerance, patience, acceptance and generosity of spirit, and she encouraged them to choose to march to the sound of their own drummer. Aside from her own children, throughout her life she thoughtfully mentored teenagers and adults too numerous to count, earning their trust and easing their burdens wit h wry humor, a quieting voice and timeless wisdom. She shared with her children and grandchildren a deep love of animals of all kinds, but especially horses, dogs and cats. Ione lived a life of community and civic service. From Cub Scouts to Girl Scouts, library boards to public arts organizations, she was always willing to volunteer her time and talents. As secretary of the Pecos Valley Horseman's Association she was the heart and soul of horse shows and rodeos for many years. She often served as a volunteer election judge and was proud to have voted in every election since 1942. She is survived by three children: Mary Ann Miller (Ken) of West Haven, Utah; Patricia Ione Weckel (Billy) of Deming, New Mexico; and George Elliott Hall (Mary) of Ogden, Utah. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Elizabeth June Fry of Pleasant View, Utah, and a son, Lawrence Jackson Hall of Austin, Texas. The family wishes to express their heart-felt appreciation for the incredibly tender care provided by Bea Shupe, Sesiu and Tony Moeaki and to the healthcare professionals of McKay-Dee Hospital and IHC Hospice. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Avenue in Ogden, Utah. Harrison, 92, passed away peacefully after a short illness in Chandler, Arizona, surrounded by his family. He was born August 25, 1912 in Columbus, Montana. He attended school through the 7th Grade, took the 8th grade test and graduated. He later attended Idaho State College in Boise, Idaho for classes concerning his job. He was an avid reader, always loved learning and truly valued education. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Union. He retired from Morrison Knudson Construction Company after 36 years as a Master Mechanic in 1978. He and his wife spent summers in Ogden, Utah, when they weren't traveling in their camper seeing the western United States, Canada, and Alaska and spent winters in Queen Creek, Arizona among many friends. His greatest joy was his family. He married the love of his life, Aina Lantta, on February 4, 1939 in Glasco, Montana. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. They have two daughters: Patricia (Ed) Guckenburg and Lin da (Steve) Billings. They have nine grandchildren: Klis Guckenburg, David Guckenburg, Gail Guckenburg Fenton, Ron (Holly) Billings, Randy (Kira) Billings, Russ (Irish) Billings, Rochelle (Josh) Nichols, Robyn (B.J.) Walling and Roxanne Billings. They have ten great-grandchildren. Of his four brothers and three sisters, there are two sisters and one brother surviving. He was very generous and shared his time and talents. He always had time to listen and laugh and would help anyone with any project. He loved to cook and his children and grandchildren benefited from it. French toast, side pork, dollar pancakes, BBQ'ed steak and anything else his grandkids and their friends wanted. Many friends and family members loved his Fin bread which he made up until the Sunday before his death. Friends and family no matter what age, were better people because they knew Dave. He was a great example and inspiration to many. We will continue to love him and we will miss him, but we are grateful for the know ledge that families are forever. She was born April 24, 1924 in Logan, the daughter of Joseph and Clara Anderson. Carol married Joseph H. Genta (deceased), Raymond T. Genta (deceased), James R. Perdue (deceased). She was a true pioneer and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Carol lived for sewing, crafts, quilting, camping, and humanitarian service. Surviving are two brothers, Joseph W. (Dorthey), and Marvin (Thea) Anderson; four sisters, Jane Pixton, Eutona (Lee) Dixon, Effie (Don) McCarthy, and Sally (Gary) Maxfield; three sons, Rodney (Irene), Harland, and Wayne (Barbara) Genta; two daughters, Carol Jo Genta, and Minnie (Brent) Larsen, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Stewart, Kitty Ingrid Kitty Ingrid Stewart Kitty Ingrid Stewart of Salt Lake City passed away May 4, 2005. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark October 7, 1935. In 1957 Kitty moved from Denmark to Salt Lake City, Utah. She became a United States Citizen in 1964, of which she was very proud. Married Archie Lee McFarland in Ogden, Utah in 1957 they were later divorced. Married Neil Stewart May 12, 1973 in Salt Lake City. Kitty was reared and educated in Denmark and was a CPA for over 40 years working at various jobs in her field, she started working for Salt Lake City in 1972 until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Utah Public Employees. Kitty loved Talk-Radio and participated as a caller in many conversations having to do with Politics. She enjoyed community and local politics and took it very seriously. Kitty is survived by her beloved husband Neil; her son Erik Lee McFarland of San Diego, California; daughter Elisabeth Joyce Walker of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Chelsea Terra Walker, and Bra dley Patrick McFarland; sister Elsabeth Nielsen of Denmark. Preceded: in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Kitty will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Home 1001 11th Avenue, SLC. She was born on January 25, 1922 to Lionel I. and Bessie B. Hadlock Layton. She married DeVere "W" Wintle on June 11, 1947. Kathleen was a teacher for 39 years in Brigham and Tremonton. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Surviving are her children: William D. Wintle, Rosemarie Wintle both of Honeyville, Utah; one brother, James J. Layton of Layton, Utah and one sister, Dr. Lucille Giddings of Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and a cabin at Bear Lake. She was the Church Camp Director for awhile. Attendance for Kathleen's (former) students is mandatory for the funeral. Extra credit will be given those who also attend the viewings. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 12:00 (noon) at the Honeyville LDS Chapel.
