Wanda J. Batchelor OGDEN - Wanda J. Batchelor, 89, died Monday, May 16, 2005 at her son Carl's home in Clearfield, of causes incident to age. She was born November 29, 1915 in Hyrum, a daughter of Neils C. and Carrie Bjelka Jensen. She lived in Hyrum for 23 years before moving to Walker Mine, California. She later returned to the Ogden area where she lived for 64 years. On July 31, 1937, Wanda married Marion T. Batchelor in American Fork. They were later divorced. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wanda graduated from Stevens Henager Business College and worked as a supervisor at Hill Air Force Base retiring after 30 years. She was a member of the Retired Federal Employees and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Wanda loved to play golf and cook, but being with her family was her life. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Carol B. (Carl) Price, North Ogden, Carl J. (Marsha) Batchelor, Clearfield; Scott L. (Judy) Batchelor, Oklahoma City, OK, ni ne grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her son, Don, parents, two brothers and two sisters. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. Eldard, Lois Nina Thulin Lois Nina Thulin Eldard WEST JORDAN - Lois Nina Thulin Eldard, 84, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City. She was born April 5, 1921 in Ogden, a daughter of Anton Julius and Eugenia (Jennie) Marsh Thulin. She married Robert Albert Eldard on April 18, 1944 in Oakland, CA. Robert died on December 1, 1993. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Primary, Relief Society and as 2nd Counselor in the Relief Society at the Heritage Park Care Center for 5 years. She served in the Navy during WWII, was a member of the Waves of the Wasatch, Waves National. She also served as a Pink Lady at the St. Benedict's Hospital for many years. Surviving are her children; Linda (Robert, deceased) Eldard, Colorado Springs, CO; Carol (Kenneth) Jackson, Melrose, Mass; Col (Ret) Richard (Robyn) Eldard, Valerico, FL; John (Marj) Eldard, Orem; Mike (Debbie) Eldard, Tualatin, Oregon; Suzanne (Craig) Pendleton, West Jordan; Roger Eldard, Plano, TX; 18 grandchildren, 14 great gran dchildren; one brother, Marsh Thulin, Camarillo, CA.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rodgers, New York. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Robert, five brothers. Hall, Ernest Lee Ernest Lee Hall CLINTON - Ernest Lee Hall, 98, passed away Monday, May 16, 2005 at ManorCare in Ogden. He had lived at Country Pines Retirement Home in Clinton since 1999. He made many new friends there. He loved everyone their he came in contact with. He loved driving his Candy-apple red motorized wheelchair around the grounds trying to coax others to race him. He was born April 18, 1907 in Hudson, Wyoming, the son of David Lee and Josephine Alger Hall. He saw many changes in his lifetime and was always trying to stay in touch with any new things that came about. He always took pride in everything he did in life. He married Virginia Maxine King on November 19, 1930 in Eureka NV. She passed away March 6, 1982. He married Virginia Kathleen Fox on September 26, 1982 in Bellflower, CA. She passed away November 10, 2001. Ernest was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Bishopric, Elders, High Priests, Stake Missionary, Executive Secretary and Los Angeles Temple Worker. He was in charge of Seniors Club dances for eight years in Bellflower, CA. He and his brothers and sisters loved to dance. He loved dancing so much that at the age of 83 had knee replacement surgery so he could continue dancing. He and his first wife spent many weekends at the Olympic Ballroom in Los Angeles dancing to Lawrence Welk's music and introducing their daughter to ballroom dancing. Surviving is his daughter Penny Lee Sawyer, of Roy; three grandchildren Ethan Lee Sawyer, Kaytlin Virginia Sawyer, both of Roy; Dallas (Alicia) Sawyer, of Ogden. Also surviving are sisters Amy Dickenson, Clara Clark, both of Henderson, NV; Gladys Wolforth, Ely, NV; Edith Ramsted, and brother Scott Hall, both of McGill, NV; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both wives, parents, brother's Grant and Jay, sisters Della and Bernice as well as brother and sister-laws and nephews. Jones, Leo Patrick Leo Patrick Jones OGDEN - Leo Patrick Jones, 67, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Wasatch Care Center due to natural causes. He was born March 28, 1938 in Baton Rouge, LA, the son of Nolan Theodore and Lilly Mae Mountone Jones, Sr. On August 31, 1962 he married Pearl B. Fullwiley. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2003. Leo served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He had been employed as an equipment operator for Utah Power & Light. Leo was a member of the Methodist church. He is survived by his son, Steve (Celeste) Jones, Ogden; two sisters, Melva Fortier, Lexington, KY and Audrey Kelly, Fayetteville, GA; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Shardae, Teneia, Izziaha and a host of family, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one brother, Nolan T. Jones, Jr. The family would like to thank the staff of Wasatch Care Center, especially, Pat, Dorothy, Scott, Candance, Jordan, Dawn, and the staff of IHC Hospice, especially Marty, Rae anne and Debbie. Larsen, Verda McLean Verda McLean Larsen Nov. 15, 1909 - May 14, 2005 ARLINGTON, Virginia - Verda McLean Larsen died peacefully at the age of 95 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife for almost 60 years of Boyd N. Larsen, who died in 1987. She was the fifth of ten children of Levi and Clarissa McLean, and the last to die. Verda was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by five children, Nancy Turner of Alexandria, VA, Joel and Judith Larsen of Shelburne, VT, Carol and William Bringham of Mission Viejo, CA, Lois Walker of Alexandria, VA, and Gary and Sharon Larsen of Omaha, NE, 14 grandchildren: Nathaniel Turner, Valerie Turner, Faith Turner, Dinah Larsen, Jennifer Larsen, Bill Bringham, Rick Bringham, Peggy Henson, Jim Bringham, Donna Walker James, Boyd Walker, Matthew Larsen, Jonathan Larsen, and Michael Larsen, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Peter Larsen. Verda was born and grew up in O gden, Utah where she met and married Boyd. In 1935 she moved to Yellowstone National Park with her husband, who worked for the National Park Service, and later lived in various locations in Wyoming. She moved to Washington D.C. in 1944 where Boyd finished his work for the War Relocation Agency. She and Boyd lived in Japan for four years during the reformation of the Japanese government. Verda retired from government service in 1964, having worked for the Central Intelligence Agency. Her permanent home had been in Arlington, Virginia since 1945. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. There will be a memorial service at Arlington Funeral Home, 2901 Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA 22203 on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment is private. (Bohe) Marie N. Bohe Payne 1909 - 2005 Marie N. Bohe Payne, 96, passed away May 16, 2005, in Clearfield, UT. She was born March 13, 1909, in Riverton, UT to Henry and Martha Densley Bohe. On June 19, 1928, she married James D. Payne in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death in 1976. She retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1971. She is survived by her three children, Beverly (Joe) Johnson, Donna Parker (Verl) Dahl, and Gene (Margo) Payne; brother, Roland L. Bohe, and 113 additional descendents. Masaichi was born Sept. 13, 1935 in Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii to Anastacio Castilion and Lily Furako Shibuya. He married Maureen Minihan in Reno, NV in 1971. They were later divorced. He enjoyed music, motocross, hunting fishing and camping. Masaichi is survived by his three sons, Masa (Elisha) Shibuya, Jay (Tammy) Shibuya and Kavika (Amy) Shibuya, all of Layton, UT; a daughter, Sheanna (Antonio) Stanziale of Clearfield, UT; a brother, Mick Boiser of CA; four sisters, Eliane Coblyn of AZ, Joyce Kampfer, Margo Boiser and Charlene Lapas all of Hawaii and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Benjamin and a daughter, Kim. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Christian Life Center, 2352 E. Sneddon, 88, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital of causes incident to age. She was born October 27, 1916 in Afton, Wyoming, a daughter of William S. and Annie Eugenia Roberts. On November 30, 1937, Maxine married Forest "Bill" Sneddon in Ogden and they were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in 1952. Bill died February 2, 1983. She moved from Afton, Wyoming to Utah as a child where she lived the remainder of her life in the Ogden area. She graduated from Ogden High School and Weber College School of Nursing. Maxine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served as a Primary Teacher. She worked as a nurse in the medical profession for many years. Maxine was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at McKay-Dee Hospital. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Her holiday homemade fudge was a treat for all. Surviving are four sons, W illiam (Dixie), Ogden; Joe (Connie), Eugene, OR; Jim (Wanda), Victoria, TX; Richard (Cindy), Vancouver, WA; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and her special friends, Monte and Delores Shupe. Also surviving are one brother, Keith Roberts, and one sister-in-law, Rae Roberts. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Roberts. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
