Dolan LIBERTY - LuAnn Marie Casale Turner Dolan, beloved wife and mother, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at her home of cancer. LuAnn was born February 15, 1961 in Buffalo, New York, a daughter of Joseph Jr. and Donna M. Jordan Casale. She married her soul mate, Thomas Dolan, on July 5, 2003 in Ogden. LuAnn was raised and educated in Germany where she lived until 1979 when she moved to the Ogden area. She worked for FMC - Jetway for nine years as a welder tech. LuAnn loved fishing, camping, hunting, snowmobiling and chariot racing. Surviving are her husband of Liberty; one son and one daughter, Royce Lee Turner, Roy; Nicole Marie Turner, Ogden; and two stepsons, Bryce (Monica) Dolan, Farr West; and Thomas J. Dolan, Roy. Also surviving are her parents of Ogden; in-laws, George and Sharon Dolan, Uintah; grandmother, Anna Sofko, Bound Brook, NJ; and one brother, Joseph M. Casale, South Weber. Gregory, Robert F. Robert F. Gregory "The Colonel" OGDEN - Robert Franklin Gregory, 83, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Manor Care Nursing Center. Robert was born July 31, 1922 in Downers Grove, Illinois, a son of Frank and Helen Marvin Gregory. Right out of high school, he joined the United States Air Force serving his country for 30 years, retiring in 1970 as a Lt. Colonel. He loved his life as an officer and had a brilliant career. He received many honors, one being the youngest Warrant-officer in the Air Force. He served his country in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and was stationed all over the world. Robert was devoted to the love of his life, Cecilia Gregory "Skip", his wife and companion for the past 63 years. She passed away April 28, 2005. He never lost the wandering that was in his soul and continued to travel until 1995 returning to Ogden to be with his daughter and her family. He loved to play golf, fish and build or repair just about anything. Surviving are his daughter, Jacque (Jim) Wilson; two grandchildren, Jeri (Johnny) Gullo and Jim (Becky) Wilson; six great-grandchildren, Jordan and Dalton Gullo, Mason, Kaden, Courtney and Slater Wilson, and one sister, Virginia Engel of Colorado. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Gregory, one sister, June Gregory and his parents. Miller, Eva Bangerter Eva Bangerter Miller 1916 - 2005 Eva Bangerter Miller was born May 4, 1916 at the home of her Grandmother Brooks in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Alma Bangerter and Gertrude Brooks Bangerter. She passed away May 16, 2005 at the age of 89. Eva was the devoted mother of two, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of 20 and great-great-grandmother of one, with two on the way. She served in Primary, Sunday School and Mutual of the LDS Church. She worked at Hill Air Force Base for 25 years as a supply clerk. She is survived by a daughter, Venna (Ellwood) Carlson; a son, Leo Edward (Pat) Miller; brothers, Arnold, Leland and Neslin; a sister, LaRene Kimber; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two sons, mother and father, two brothers, two sisters and one great-granddaughter. We are grateful for the loving care given our mother by Dr. Val Hansen, Lakeview Hospital staff and Odessey Hospice. Published in the Standard-Examiner on 5/19/2005. Sneddon, Maxine J. Maxine J. Sneddon NORTH OGDEN - Maxine J. Sneddon, 88, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital of causes incident to age. She was born October 27, 1916 in Afton, Wyoming, a daughter of William S. and Annie Eugenia Roberts. On November 30, 1937, Maxine married Forest "Bill" Sneddon in Ogden and they were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in 1952. Bill died February 2, 1983. She moved from Afton, Wyoming to Utah as a child where she lived the remainder of her life in the Ogden area. She graduated from Ogden High School and Weber College School of Nursing. Maxine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served as a Primary Teacher. She worked as a nurse in the medical profession for many years. Maxine was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at McKay-Dee Hospital. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Her holiday homemade fudge was a treat for all. Surviving are four sons, W illiam (Dixie), Ogden; Joe (Connie), Eugene, OR; Jim (Wanda), Victoria, TX; Richard (Cindy), Vancouver, WA; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and her special friends, Monte and Delores Shupe. Also surviving are one brother, Keith Roberts, and one sister-in-law, Rae Roberts. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Roberts. Stokes was born in Mantua, Utah, February 17, 1917 to Isaac Albert and Mary Elzada Nelson Young. She passed away May 17, 2005, surrounded by her daughters and other family members at the age of 88. She was the loving Mother of 3 daughters, grandmother of 16, great-grandmother of 43 and great-great-grandmother of 3. Mary loved gardening (especially roses), reading and enjoying good music. She had a beautiful soprano voice and played the piano and organ. She cherished the scriptures and amazed her family and friends with her knowledge of the gospel. She was an active member of the Harrisville 1st Ward and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Heber Wallace Stokes, Jr., her parents and sisters Florence, Dorothy, and Janet. She is survived by brothers Dean, J. Lowell, Moylen, and Grant Young and daughters Sharon (Keith H.) Billings, Pat Larsen and Nancy (Dean A.) Prusse. Van Zandt, Wanda Wanda M. Van Zandt WASHINGTON TERRACE - Wanda Marie Fernelius Van Zandt, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. She was born August 16, 1917 in Uintah, a daughter of Heber A. and Laura May Bybee Fernelius. On August 22, 1936, Wanda married Byron Merle Van Zandt. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1945. They lived in Rawlins, Wyoming for many years where Byron was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1989. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took an active part in numerous ladies organizations and auxiliaries and loved to play cards (and win). She was loved and respected by all her family and numerous friends and associates. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, B. Neil (Joan) of Pacifica, CA; Don (Harlene) of Portland, OR; Merle Wolthuis (Gerrit, deceased), of Ogden; Linda (Don) Jenkins of Colorado Springs, CO; 12 grandchildren, f our step grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 15 step great-grandchildren and numerous step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son-in-law, and one granddaughter. Wallace, Harold Keith Harold Keith Wallace Harold Keith Wallace, 78, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2005 at McKay Dee Hospital in Odgen, Utah. Harold was born on March 11, 1927 in Price, Utah to LeRoy T. and Grace Reid Wallace. He then moved from Price to Logan, Utah on June 1, 1935 and attended Logan High School. He graduated from Utah State University in 1951 in business administration. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He joined the Army and was a veteran that served on the base of Shemya, Aleutian Islands during World War II. He was also a first lieutenant in the Korean War. Harold married Joyce Sanders on December 8, 1957 in Logan, Utah and later moved to Ogden, Utah. He was employed by J.C. Penney Co., Western Real Estate, and Miller Realty. He was an ardent fisherman, a lover of books, and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Joyce Wallace of Ogden, his brother Dr. Gerald K. She was born May 30, 1912 in Ogden, Utah to William and Jeanne Jack who came from Newarthill, Scotland in 1910. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances (Mrs. Mark Greenwood) and May (Mrs. Wallace McConnell). She married Owen Wangsgard in 1931. They had two daughters, Wendy Wangsgard, San Diego, CA; and Gayle (Mrs. Larry Bryan) Newport Beach, CA. Edythe had two grandsons, Derek Bryan, Newport Beach, CA; and Peter Bryan, San Diego, CA. She had seven nieces and five nephews. Edythe and Owen were married one month short of 73 years when Owen passed away December 2003. Owen was the former owner of Wangsgard's Market at Five Points. Edythe was a kind, gentle person who enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, listening to the Lawrence Welk Show and working in her beautiful flower garden. Edythe was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. A grateful th ank you to our caretakers and good friends, Jean Hachmeister and Pam Bethel who helped take care of both Edythe and Owen over the years. A special thank you to the staff of Grossmont Gardens Health Center in San Diego, CA where she spent the last six weeks of her life. Wilhelmsen, Melvin J. Melvin J. Wilhelmsen Melvin J. Wilhelmsen, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 from the effects of CADASIL disease. He was living in Layton, UT at the time of his death. Mel was born May 1, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to Mack and Maurine Wilhelmsen. He married his childhood sweetheart Linda Jean Higham, June 8, 1967 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. He attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1963. He served a mission for the LDS church in Aukland New Zealand. He then went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in landscape architecture from Utah State University. After graduation he started his own business in Caldwell, Idaho and eventually became an expert in computers. He then worked for Micron in Idaho as a data analyst. Hunting, fishing and golfing were a few of his favorite hobbies and he especially enjoyed doing them with his five sons. He was an active member of the LDS church and held various church callings. He was very proud of the fact that his five s ons earned their Eagle Scout awards, served LDS missions, and all seven of his children were married in the temple. Melvin is survived by his wife, Linda; seven children; Kimberly Bailey (Rick) of Vancouver, WA; Jason (Heidi) of Caldwell, ID; Travis (Teresa) of Vancouver, WA; Ryan (Charlene) of Layton, UT; Joshua (Stacey) of Nampa, ID; Sara Blacker (David) of Dallas, TX; and Daniel (Rachel) of Boise, ID; his mother, Maurine Wood Wilhelmsen; brothers and sisters; Joy Wilcox (Norman), Janice Dennis (Leroy), Marilyn Brinkerhoff (Mike), Stanley (Bertha), Roger (Cheryl), and Kevin (Becky); and grandchildren; Brittany, Tyson, Marissa, Madison, Jaron, Cady, Justus, Aubrey, Jacob, Taylor, Emily, Kyle, Cody, Ethan, Dallin, McKenna, Jordan, Alex, and Dekan; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was born March 22, 1921 in Ogden, a daughter of Lawrence A. and Margaret Stone Baxter. She graduated from the High School for the Deaf. In October of 1943, Alta married Delbert P. Robinson. They later divorced. In 1945 she married Oliver Woodward in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized on May 12, 1969 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died July 3, 1975. Alta married William L. Broyles in May of 1977 in Wendover, Nevada. He died in August of 1997. On April 21, 2003, Alta married Arvel Woodward in Farmington. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Deaf Branch. Alta worked as a seamstress for the W.S. Butler Company. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, fishing, traveling and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of Kaysville; two sons and two daughters, Vernon A. (Peggy) Woodward, Ce nterville; Dennis J. (Sheila) Woodward, South Ogden; Cheryl L. Owens (Larry Searle), Roy; Ginger (E.J.) Martinez, Winnemucca, NV; five stepchildren, Donald E. (Nancy) Woodward, Kaysville; Deanna (B.J.) Smith, Layton; LaRae (Max) Whitesides, Morgan; LaVauna (Zachery) Romero, Kaysville; Ronald (Nytalia) Woodward, Kaysville; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
