Where sorrows adverse currents flow? To set my flame of life aglow? Who heard my first wild, plaintive cry? With joy and wonder in her eye? Who sang my first soft lullaby? When I was ill, while others slept, Who through the night her vigil kept And o'er my cradle prayed and wept?Who brought me safe, with prayers and tears? Across the landscape of the years To summits where the vision clears? Who sacrificed in every way? To make me what I am today, A debt that I can never pay? Who lingers in my revere?
