Ruth Jeanne Wangsgard Faulkner Francom Tuesday, October 4, 2005 LAYTON - Ruth Jeanne Wangsgard Faulkner Francom, 88, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2005 at ManorCare in South Ogden. She was born February 25, 1917 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Denton Wangsgard and Mae Eveline Crowther. She attended Ogden City Schools. She married Horace (Hod) Faulkner on November 30, 1935 in Ogden; he preceded her in death on August 9, 1972. She married Harold Francom in April 1978 in Ogden; he preceded her in death in 1985. Ruth also lived in Jefferson City, MO for 10 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints; a board member of Lincoln Elementary PTA, and a board member of Womens Auxiliary of Railway Mail Clerks. She was active in Dance Aires, and Ben Lomond Womens Bowling. She enjoyed traveling in Canada, Mexico, US, Alaska, Europe, Russia and the Caribbean. Ruth helped care for her sister and mother for many years. Her main joy in life was being a mother. Surviving are her son, Stephen Herbert Faulkner, Boise, ID; daughter Jolene Alberts, Holts Summit, MO; three grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and a sister, Laura Blanche Wangsgard. He was born in Ogden, the son of Ralph Hill and Elizabeth (Betty) Hill Orgill. He was raised in Ogden and attended Ogden City Schools. He served in the military during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Marie Phillips in Burley, ID. She passed away. He later married Shelly Kotter in Brigham City and they were later divorced. He is survived by his stepfather, Derwin Orgill; his mother, Elizabeth Orgill of St George, UT; his son, Troy (Angela) Hill of Lehi, Ut; his daughter, Jennifer Kotter or Brigham City; brothers, Douglas (Phyllis) Hill and David Hill; also his companion, Scarlett Hill and her daughter, Angela. (Kelly) Draayer Tuesday, October 4, 2005 CLINTON - Kelly Draayer, 94, long time Clinton resident, died October 1, 2005. He was born June 30, 1911, a son of John Draayer Jr. and Martina Schipper. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by his loving stepmother, Etserdina Pot Draayer. On December 17, 1930, Kelly married Ruth Briggs, his high school sweetheart, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent over 50 happy years together. Ruth died April 26, 1983. Kelly served his community both as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints where he served a mission to Holland and in a Bishopric, as well as a civic leader, where he served as a former Mayor of Clinton. Kelly was a successful farmer and cattleman. He had a passion for his horses and cows having an uncanny knack for training and taming his animals. Throughout the years, he had many winners in race and pulling horses. Besides his love for animals, Kelly loved good music, dancing and family outings. He also drove a school bus for 33 years. Kelly is survived by two sons, Clark (Bonnie), Sunset; Dennis (Norma), Clinton; a daughter, Linda (Jerry) Hogge, Clinton; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette (Roy) Hatch, Manti. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie and four brothers, Bud, Jack, Claude and Chris. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 5th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Syracuse Cemetery. Steven C. Flinders Tuesday, October 4, 2005 WEST WEBER - Steven C. Flinders, 35, passed away peacefully at his home after a short but courageous battle with cancer, October 1, 2005, surrounded by his family. He was born July 8, 1970 to Colyn and Barbara Benson Flinders. He was raised in West Weber, Utah where he later returned to raise his family. Steve married Shawna C. Ellis, daughter of Barbara and Larry Ellis, on October 29, 1992 and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple on April 11, 1998. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was dedicated to his family and friends and loved spending time with them. Steve successfully owned and operated his own business, "Flinders Trucking and Excavating". Aside from enjoying his business, he loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile and spend time outdoors. He was a kind and caring man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Steve is survived by his wife, Shawna, a daughter, Sarah, a son, Kelton, his parents, a brother, Brian (Deann) Flinders and a sister, Jana (Shayne) Mosher. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the West Weber 1st Ward, 4100 West 900 South, with Bishop Forrest Allred, officiating. LaMont Chadwick Tuesday, October 4, 2005 LaMont Chadwick left this earth , Sunday October 2, 2005 to join his earthly parents, LaVon Chadwick and Maggie LaVona Wybrow Chadwick and his wife Marilyn. LaMont "Chad" was born June 21, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Audrey Foxley December 13, 1946, and they divorced. He later married Marilyn Harris, his lifelong companion who preceded him in death in June 2, 2004. He was a combat veteran of World War II and the Korean War. LaMont served in the Navy on the battle ship US Mississippi in World War II and various other Navy vessels in Korea. He was highly decorated for his military service. He worked in International Logistics at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah until his retirement after 42 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn and three sisters. LaMont is survived by Gary L. Chadwick (son), Lisa Cloyd (daughter), step children; Cindy Harris of Malad, Idaho; Jan (Dennis) Gailey of St. George, Utah; Jedd (Ulricke) Harris of Kaysville, Utah; Misty (Randy) Williams also of Kaysville; Jody (Kim) Harris of Ogden, Utah 21 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Melvin Robert Muir Tuesday, October 4, 2005 CLINTON - Melvin Robert Muir of Altamont, Utah died Friday, September 30, 2005 in his home at Altamont from complications of Esophageal Cancer. Mr. Muir was born December 18, 1943 at Clinton, Utah, the son of Melvin C. and Donna Frew Muir. Bob worked with his dad on the farm and at Muir Bros. Produce in Clinton. He owned and operated big trucks throughout the Country. Bob possessed a great talent working with his hands. He could build or weld anything with limited resources. Bob enjoyed dancing and teaching others to line dance. He is survived by two daughters, Sophia Muir Parry, of Bluffdale, Utah, Donna Muir Bateman of Roy, Utah, one sister, Marilyn Durrant of Morgan, Utah and one brother, Alan Muir of Sun Lakes, Arizona. Raymond (Ray) York Tuesday, October 4, 2005 OGDEN - Raymond York passed away September 30, 2005 at the Mtn. Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden. He was born to Louis York and Hermina Schmidt on March 27, 1917 in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was reared and educated in Glidden, Wisconsin. Ray then joined the Army/Air Corp. during WWII. After the war he married Arlene Moulding in Ogden and worked last as a Production Controller at the Defense Depot Ogden until his retirement. Ray was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He tinkered in woodworking, metalwork, and repairs including clock repair. He is survived by his son Robert York (Jane Phillips) and daughter Randy (Edward) Orozco, sister Angeline Weins of Ft. Wayne, IN., four grandchildren, Jill, Jeri, Brandi, Monica and one great grandchild. He is also survived by long time friends Ruth Fleming, Dean Scadden, Joe Widman, Robina Delion, and the many new friends at Mtn. Ridge. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, and one brother, Harry York. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005 at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Melvin LeRon Udy Tuesday, October 4, 2005 Melvin LeRon Udy, 87, of Fielding, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at his home of a prolonged illness. He was born in Plymouth, Utah a son of Melvin A. and Phoebe L. Nish Udy. He was married to Virginia Coombs October 18, 1940 in Billings, Montana. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on April 23, 1964. She preceded him in death, June 14, 1979. He was a graduate of Bear River High School and served in the Army during WWII, from 1945 to 1946. He was a supervisor at Hill Air Force Base and retired in 1971. He was able to return to farming in Box Elder County after his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was fond of the outof- doors. He was an active member of the LDS church and had served in several callings throughout his lifetime, including bishopric counselor, ward choir member and ordained temple worker. Surviving are his wife, Velma Evans Udy of Logan; one daughter, Mrs. Marvin L. Hansen (Karen) of Mendon, Utah; six grandchildren: Kelly Martneau (Lohnie), Round Hill, VA; Jennifer DeReus (Jeremy), Manassas, VA; Matthew L. Hansen (Lisa), Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Suzanne Petersen, Fairfax, VA; Andrea Boyd (Christopher), North Logan, UT and David L. Hansen, Idaho Falls, ID; six great-grandchildren: Jacob Martineau, Emma Rose Martineau, Noah Martineau, Moses Hansen, Wyatt Hansen and Lauren Petersen. Step relatives include: David Evans (Gloria), Malad, ID; Dennis Evans (Sherrie), Malad, ID; six step-grandchildren and 17 stepgreat- grandchildren. Lyle E. King Tuesday, October 4, 2005 OGDEN - Lyle Eugene King passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005 from complications of a stroke. He was born January 10, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alonzo and Alfreda Mitchell King. He moved with his family to Huntsville in 1946 where they had a strawberry farm. Lyle married Karen Stephens on June 10, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple and they resided in Ogden. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He graduated from Weber High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne from 1951 to 1953. He graduated from Weber College in 1960 and retired in 1987 as a contracting officer from Hill Air Force Base. Lyle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest and held many callings throughout his life including Scout leader, Sunday School President and Elders Quorum Counselor, but the one he loved the most was that of Home Teacher. His family was the most important thing in his life. He loved being with them at holidays and other family activities, especially spending time with them at his summer home at Bear Lake. Lyle is survived by his wife Karen, of Ogden; three daughters, Becky (Jay) Calder, South Weber; Kathy J. (Scott) Larsson, Sandy; Shelley Fessler (Jeff Socwell), Clearfield; and eight grandchildren, Jalynn, Jessica, Michael, Heather, Crystal, Luke, Sarah, and Cassie. Lola Emma Atkinson Campbell Tuesday, October 4, 2005 NORTH OGDEN - Lola Emma Atkinson Campbell, 82, died peacefully October 1, 2005 at the Emeritus Estates. She was born December 28, 1922 to Selma Josephine Christensen and Heber Delbert Atkinson in Clarkston, Cache County, Utah. She graduated from North Cache High School and LDS Seminary. She attended Henagars Business College in Ogden. During World War II she worked at the Defense Depot in Ogden. She worked at the Internal Revenue Service, retiring after 35 years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Brigham City. She was a story teller at the Brigham City Library and worked as a pink lady at the Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton. She married Harmon Jay Campbell June 3, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple. They reared six children. She was a resident of Corinne and Brigham City most of her married life. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including ward Relief Society president and a ward and stake Primary president. She loved to serve others and was a faithful visiting teacher. She also taught in Young Womens and served for many years as junior Sunday School coordinator. She and Harmon served in the California Ventura Mission in 1986- 87. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters Violet Hauser Hardy, Grant Atkinson; Joseph Atkinson; and Hazel Atkinson Nelson Rose; and a son-in-law, Kirby Giles. She is survived by her husband of North Ogden and children Jeneil (Jay) Hardy of Elwood; Rodney (Julia) of Hurricane; Geraldine (Dennis) Child of Logan; Rita Giles (Bill) Tanner of Fillmore; Jeffrey (Kathy) of Orem; Joel (Jolene) of Lindon; 25 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. Leonard Joseph Oberbroekling Tuesday, October 4, 2005 RIVERDALE - Our loving and very special dad, grandpa, brother and friend, Leonard Oberbroekling, 90, passed peacefully to join our mother, on Saturday, October 1, 2005, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born October 16, 1914 in New Vienna, Iowa, to Joseph and Anna Oberbroekling. He was raised in Iowa and the youngest of seven children. After serving with the U.S. Army he moved to Idaho where he met and married our mother, Thelma, on December 29, 1947. They moved to Riverdale, Utah in 1954 and celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage. Dad was very patriotic, serving his country well during World War II at Pearl Harbor. Dad worked for Arco Gas Company and the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired after 28 years. Dad enjoyed golfing with friends and family, taking grandchildren bowling, playing checkers, cards and going to Wendover. One of the highlights of his life was to see his family join together in fun and laughter. Dad passed down to his children his strong belief in the value of a dollar, hard work and being together as a family. Surviving are his two sons and three daughters, Robert (Connie) Jensen, Notus, ID; Jack (Linda) Jensen, Layton, UT; Mary Ann (Brent) Stauffer, South Weber, UT; Betty (Wayne) Wilson, Roy, UT; Janet (Jim) Wells, Willard, UT; 23 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Dad is also survived by two sisters, Sylvia Biehl and Clara Leigh, both of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother the three sisters. Dad was active throughout all his life enjoying daily walks, visiting friends, tending to his home and yard. Doing all these things even the day before his passing. Life was good to Dad and we all benefited by his good health and desire to keep busy. You will be greatly missed by all who loved, cared and associated with you. You are our hero. He was fighting until the end. John was born July 10, 1935, in Ogden, Utah to John Dunning Church Sr. and Ella Lund Church. He and his family moved to Imlay, Nevada in 1936. Some of his fondest childhood memories were in Imlay. They moved back to Ogden in 1945. He attended Mount Ford Jr High, Ogden High and Weber State. John joined the Navy at age 17 and served in the Navy from 1952-1956 during the Korean War. In 1956 he married Pauline Shelton. They had five children. They were later divorced. In 1990, he married Angie Church. They were later divorced. For many years, he worked for Slot Brothers Produce. The Slot's were more a family to him than an employer. He worked for Western Cattle, Meads Health Shoes, and for Jack B Parsons for 25 years. During these years, he met many dear friends. John coached hockey for years where he developed many life long friendships including his friendship with his loyal friend, Steve Barney. John was an honest and caring friend with a great sense of humor and loved by all that met him. He was called Uncle John or Grandpa by every child he met. With his quick wit and happy go lucky attitude, he made friends everywhere. John was a member of the American Legion, the Eagles, and the VFW. John loved to camp and fish, a passion he learned from his father and passed on to his children and grandchildren. His children and grandchildren were his greatest treasures in life. He loved to cook and make special treats for all. He is survived by his children, (Joe) and Laura South, (Tom) and Lynda Duncan, John and (Karen) Church, Kenny and (JoLynn) Church, and Casey and (Boni) Church. 23 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters Delbert and Charliot Williams and George and Joyce Haywood and many nephews and nieces. Mable Leona Williams Bennett Tuesday, October 4, 2005 KAYSVILLE - Mable finished her earthly journey on October 2, 2005. She was born January 23, 1919, in Roy, Utah to John and Zina Rachel Landon Williams. She was one of nine children. She attended Weber County Schools and on October 1, 1934 she married Howard Rueben Bennett in Morgan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple December 17, 1953. He preceded in death on Dec. 5, 1996. They made their home in Kaysville Utah. She worked at Majors Bakery for several years and at Bowmans Market where she retired. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints where she was very faithful in many callings. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, ceramics, oil painting, quilting, and playing her organ. She loved and enjoyed being around her family and playing with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two children, Dionne (Rudd) Scoffield, Garry (Karlene) Bennett all of Layton UT. twelve grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, three brothers, one grandson-in-law and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Thursday October 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville LDS Tabernacle, 198 West Center. MaryLee Trotter Tuesday, October 4, 2005 MaryLee Trotter, "Hostess at the Banquet of Life", passed away on September 30, 2005. She was full of life and enjoyed sharing it with others for 73 years. She found joy in service, had a great sense of humor and cherished her family and friends. Born on February 4, 1932, she was the youngest child born to Gerald and Gladys Eagleton of Decatur, Nebraska. She truly loved her sister, Jacqualine Maryott and brother, Jim and adored her grandmother, Nettie. She married Keith Trotter on September 23, 1952 and they never experienced a dull moment; he loved her and kept her laughing for 40 years, until his death in 1992. She spent every holiday and most Saturdays with her daughter, Susan Coffey (Clinton); building great memories together was her hobby. Her son, K.G. (SLC), had his mother's devoted love, never a day passed that she didn't think of him. She felt that Richard was the best Son-in-law in this world and held a great love and respect for him. Her three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren defined Joy in her life; Holly (Rudy), Andrew and Sara Atencio, Heidi and (Kevin) Cobb, Hope, (Ryan), Taylor and Alec Arave were her greatest blessings from the Lord. She was a Christian and belonged to Clearfield Community Church where she held lasting friendships. She greatly loved her residence and friends at St. Marks Gardens in Kaysville; and everyone knew how much she enjoyed decorating and going to yard sales. Her remains, along with Keith's will be caught up together on the wind of loving memories, on Saturday, October 8th in Decatur, Nebraska at Hillcrest Cemetery, overlooking the Missouri River. Seth Ferrin was born April 16, 1974 in Portland, Oregon, the son of Chariton Arnold III "Tres" and Sherry Ilene Ellis Ferrin, and was raised in Shadow Valley in Ogden. After testing the patience of teachers, parents, brother and sister for a number of years, he surrounded himself with good friends and found joy in doing the good things in life. Seth was a talented child, a nationally ranked power tumbler, an Eagle Scout, and was an outstanding track athlete at Ogden High where he and teammates held school, city and region track records. Seth married Angela Rich and embarked on a 12 year romance which was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Seth and Angie are the parents of five beautiful children, four boys and one girl. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Sunday School teacher and Scout leader. He was a member of the Regal Country Ward. Seth had a love for life that was unique: he enjoyed sky diving, scuba diving, mountain biking and rock climbing. He was well read and enjoyed spirited political discussions. He was successful in the business world. His passion was his family. He spent his last earthly day helping his sister-in-law put in a new lawn and watching his boys play soccer and football. Seth was always there for his family and will be greatly missed by his family who loved and cherished him. Seth, 31, passed from this life peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at his home. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and friend. Surviving are his loving wife and children, Chariton Seth Ferrin, Jr., Landon Tres Ferrin, Jace Richard Ferrin, Jaxon Gage Ferrin and Alexa Rae Ferrin, all of West Haven. Also surviving are his parents of Ogden; one brother and one sister, Joshua Shawn (Tara) Ferrin, Palm Springs, CA; Devery Dawn (Michael) Aguilar, Salt Lake City; many nieces and nephews; his grandparents, Arnie Ferrin, Salt Lake City; Don and Ardis Ellis, Washington Terrace; and his father and mother-in-law, Richard W. and Shelba Rich, West Haven. Seth was preceded in death by his grandmother RoLayne Ferrin. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 1 to 1:30 p.m. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
