She was born January 10, 1898 in St. George, Utah, a daughter of Herbert Arthur and Clara Woodbury Barlow. Rowena started teaching school in Enterprise, Utah in 1918, and after many moves, settled in Ogden in 1925, teaching at Mound Fort Elementary and Washington Elementary schools. She taught geography and gave lectures on her worldwide travels. She traveled to Alaska when she was 104 years old. She was a skillful storyteller and an interesting adventurer who took pictures, movies and slides by the hundreds. She shared them with schoolchildren, family and friends and always had a fascinating story to go along with them. Rowena married Dr. George R. Doxey on June 27, 1953. He died March 8, 1968. Surviving are her children are Sybil Badger and Marilyn Williams. Two children, Helen Urry and Dr. George R. Doxey, Jr. are deceased, as well one great-grandson, one brother and four sisters. Rowena has nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She has a brother Horace Sylvester, age 96, and a sister, Margaret Hardy, who will be age 94 this month, both living in Mesquite, NV. Over the years, Rowena's interests have been knitting, cooking, playing bridge, University Club, Birthday Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, yoga, swimming and church activities. Until recently, she was an active visiting teacher in her LDS ward. For the past seven years she has attended the Governor's luncheon for the centenarians of Utah. In 2005, she was the oldest honoree at the party and according to records was the second oldest living person in the state of Utah. Rowena took every opportunity as it came along to broaden her life. There were no strangers, only people to get to know and love. She maintained a positive outlook even to the last day. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8th at 3 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. Clifford Henry Wilson Saturday, October 8, 2005 Clifford (Clix) Henry Wilson died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in the presence of his children and family. It was a beautiful fall day with crisp air, first frost, and colorful mountains - his favorite time of year to enjoy hunting, fishing and exploring the wilderness. Cliff was born September 22, 1918 in Aberdeen, Washington, a son of Herbert and Elizabeth Woods Wilson. His father worked there temporarily and then the family moved back to Ogden, Utah where he lived the remaining years of his life. After graduating from Ogden High School, he followed in his father's footsteps, learning carpentry and construction skills. He left Utah in 1943 to proudly protect and defend our Country during World War II. He served as a SeeBee in the 104th battalion, United States Navy. Wounded in 1945, he returned to Utah where he began his career as a carpenter and was a loyal member of the Utah Carpenter's Union for 68 years - the longest on record. His General Foreman leadership skills, and the knack for getting it right and on schedule were attributes respected by his peers. He was involved in building some of the largest projects in the area. Cliff was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cliff married Marjorie Carver in 1951. They had two children - Yvonne (Blaine) Stewart and Jerry (Kelly) Wilson, and were married for 52 years. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Cathryn Thomas, and his dear sister Gayle Affleck, who lives in Elko, Nevada. In addition to his children, Cliff is survived by eight grandchildren - Brian (Utana) Phillips, Amy (Rob) Davis, Brett (Kate) Wilson, Cody Wilson, Cazree Wilson, ShayLee Wilson, Dylan Mathis and Robert Thomas. He has six great-grandchildren. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marge, and brothers Edward and Herbert Wilson. F uneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends may call Saturday one hour prior to the services. Interment at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park. Kirk Montgomery Breitweiser Saturday, October 8, 2005 ROY - Kirk M. Breitweiser, 48, beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend fell prey to the dreaded disease of alcoholism on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. Kirk battled with this addiction for years. It is his family's desire that all reading this will know how fatal this disease can be. He was born May 19, 1957, in Ogden, Utah to Donald "Monte" Chase and Gwen J. Bailey. K irk was a professional journeyman electrician with the 8th District Electrical Union Locals #354 and # 57. He started his career at Chase Electric, a family owned and operated business. He longed to model his father in business and did so working for him for many years. Kirk played an active role in setting up and facilitating the Ogden Haunted House for several years, providing entertainment for families in our community. His career would eventually lead him to the heights of Foreman with Sturgeons Electric where he was a loyal employee until the end. He loved working on our huge power substations responsible for providing power to all of us locally. His professionalism and work ethic will be truly missed. He married Denise Derosier. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents. Kirk is survived by his parents, Monte Chase and Gwen Bailey; his adopted father, Larry Breitweiser; his finacee, Sheila Barnes; his son, Christopher; and a granddaughter, Angelic; four sisters, Kathy Ongley, Celeste (Michael) Davis, Heidi (Edwardo) Pantoja, and Shelley Mc- Conaugh; three brothers, Clifford, Kevin and Scott Chase; many aunts, uncles, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10th at 2:00p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Merlyn E. Owens Saturday, October 8, 2005 PLEASANT VIEW - Merlyn Ellis Owens, 62, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born March 22, 1943 in Ogden, a son of Melvin Ray and Priscilla Welch Owens. Merlyn married Judy Campbell on May 30, 1959 in Ogden. He was a lifelong resident of Ogden and worked at Bourns Auto-Part manufacturing in quality control. Merlyn enjoyed traveling in his motor home, fishing, camping and absolutely adored his grandkids. Surviving are his wife Judy, Pleasant View; two sons and six daughters, Robert (Amanda) Owens, Marriott/Slaterville; Randy Owens, Pleasant View; Sharon (Scott) Atkinson, Roy; DeAnna (Randall) Olney, Farr West; Lori (Kevin) Campell, Plain City; Robin Jessop, Ogden; Becky Kersey-Brian, Clearfield; Angela (Joedy) Rodriquez, Roy; 26 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are his motherin- law, Freda Campbell, Marriott/Slaterville; and one sister Carol (Tom) Reed, Pleasant View. Preceding him in death were his parents, one son Rusty Roy Owens, three grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and his father- in-law Roy Campbell. Wanda Mary Sharp Berkley Saturday, October 8, 2005 Together Forever SUNSET - Wanda Mary Sharp Berkley, 84, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Wasatch Care Center. She was born June 9, 1921 in Preston, Idaho the daughter of Lester Irvin and Mary Alice Bright Sharp. Wanda married George Dotson Berkley on November 21, 1921 in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a member of the LDS church, serving in the YWMIA, Primary, and as a Visiting Teacher in the Sunset 2nd and 3rd Ward, Sunset Stake and a temple worker. Wanda enjoyed working at Elaine's Dress Shop. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and camping with friends. Her grandchildren were her joy, she always said they were PERFECT. Surviving are her son, George D. (Linda) Berkley Jr., Clinton; daughter, Jenean (Don) Crook, Clinton; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and five brothers. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton City Cemetery, 800 North 750 West. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street. William Bruce Wassink Saturday, October 8, 2005 William Bruce Wassink passed away October 7, 2005 at his home. He was born January 7, 1944 in Panoma, California to Harry O. and Peggy Sawhill Wassink. After graduating from Davis High School in 1962 he attended Weber College. He then served in the Army National Guard. He married Bonnie East in 1966, they were later divorced. William worked for 35 years at Hill AFB , and recently retired from the Technology Directorate as an engineering program manager. He was a past Director in the Roy Jaycees , and past President of the Hill AFB Administrators Association. He enjoyed golfing, mountain biking, woodworking and skiing. He was a member of the Hill Ski Club. He donated his extra time to various community volunteer programs. He is survived by his two daughters Darcy Patterson and Nicole Culver both of Reno, NV., his sister Barbara Loosemore of Seattle, WA., brother Keith Wassink of West Valley, and two grandchildren Kirsten Yamaoka and John William Patterson both of Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Rich Wassink. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2005 at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Family will meet friends one hour prior to the services. Interment at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
