Neville Evertsen Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Zora M. Neville Evertsen, 91, went to the arms of Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 9, 2005 surrounded by her family. She was the Daughter of David Samual and Carrie Call Neville, born on January 23, 1914. Zora married Peter Andrew Evertsen on December 16, 1931 in Ogden, Utah. Zora worked as a cook at the Ogden Airport Caf, as well as Mattie's Caf in Roy. Zora enjoyed woodworking, leatherwork, oil painting, and doll collecting. She also loved being a mother to her five children and especially loved spending time with her 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Zora believed in her Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of the Pentecostal faith. We loved you mother, grandmother and will always miss your smiling face dearly. Thank you for always having a wonderful sense of humor. Your legacy will live on. She is survived by her sons Eldred (Elli) Evertsen, Santa Monica, CA; Lathair Evertsen, Hanna, WY; Gearith Evertsen, Taylor, UT; Brent (Susie) Evertsen, Thayne, WY; and daughter Lalie (Barry) Howard, Taylor, UT; sisters, Eulalie (Tom) Lightfoot, Delma Hogge. Best of friends Marlene Falleroni, Wenda Terkelson, Victoria Tester and Dave Fowler. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Herman Neville, one brother in law Gerald Hogge, one daughter-in-law, Elaine Evertsen, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the services. Interment at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park. Kip L. Chestnut Wednesday, October 12, 2005 ROY - Kip L. Chesnut, 59, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2005, at the Mt. Ogden Care Center. He was born October 26, 1945, in Richfield, Utah, to George Hugh and Orlene Zabriskie Chesnut. He was married to Claudette Holgate in 1963 and they divorced. In 1996, Kip married Leslie Gale Berryessa in Elko, Nevada. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Kip loved his job at Hill Air Force Base and the people he worked with. He was an avid pool player and won many trophies. His favorite pastime was rafting down the Green River and his annual trip to Lake Powell. He loved his animals Kip is survived by his wife, Leslie G. Chesnut; his mother, Orlene Chesnut; two brothers, Ronald (Maurine) Chesnut and Sherrill Chesnut; two sisters, Aletta (Terry) Sorensen and Madeleine (James) Morris; 11 children and four stepchildren, Kip Troy (Janet) Chesnut, Marena (Everett) Probasco, Sherlene Crites, Brenda (Brady) Fisher, Mark Chesnut, Donna (Carl) Colburn, Barry Chesnut, Christina (Marcus) Cole, Beth (Clint) Hoyt, Owen Chesnut, Anna (David) Lee, Tamra (Lee) Higginson, Mark Frongner, Bryan Frongner, Jennifer (Jeremy) Marshall; 40 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, "adopted" children and many loved friends. Reed Bullen Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Reed Bullen, our dear father, passed away at age 98 on Oct. 9, 2005 at Terrace Grove. Reed was born in Logan, Utah November 17, 1906, the fourth child of Mary Hendricks and Herschel Bullen Jr. Reed married Kathryn Bowen on March 31, 1939. Their children include Mary Ann (Grayson S.) Wright Salt Lake City, Utah, Brooks (Dr.F. Zane) Jessen Ogden, Utah, Dr. Reed and Terri (Duran) Bullen, Logan, Utah, Jonathan William and Julie (Harris) Bullen, Rancho Sante Fe, California, Kathryn Louise (Mark B.) McEvoy Dammeron Valley, Utah. Reed had 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Herschel Keith, Lavona, Helen and Thurlow (Tad) Hendricks Bullen. One surviving sister-in-law, Marjorie Q. Bowen lives in Logan, Utah. Reed was an eternal optimist and had a very positive outlook throughout his diverse and industrious life. In addition to his many achievements he loved to fly fish, dance, garden, support Aggie athletics and play golf. He had a long and productive career in business, civic and church work. Reed along with his father brought radio broadcasting (KVNU 1938) to Cache Valley. He later brought cable television (North Utah Community TV) to Cache Valley in 1971. Reed as "Man on the Street" was recognized and well known for interviews and editorials about many issues concerning Cache Valley. Reed had 58 years of continuous service in broadcasting (KVNU & KVFM) and was inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame, (1985). Reed served six terms as a senator in the Utah State Senate, (1955- 76). He distinguished himself as whip, majority leader and president (1963) and served three terms as chairman of the Legislative Higher Education Committee. He was a member of the Logan Rotary Club (1943-2006) and a lifetime member of the USAC Alumni Association. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, a charter member of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi at USU (1925), a charter member of Round Valley Development Association, (1938), and an Honorary Colonels of the Utah National Guard, (1965). A lifelong loyal Aggie, Reed graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1929 with a degree in business, received the Distinguished Service Award (1977) and was awarded an honorary degree as Doctor of Business in 1999. He also did postgraduate work at the University of Utah and Stanford University Law School and later served on the USU Board of Trustees. Reed served as bishop of the Logan Eleventh Ward (1951-1958), Stake President of the USU first stake (1959-1972), Stake Patriarch (1972-1978), and Logan Temple President (1978-84). Reed fell in love with his beloved wife Kathryn in 1937 and continues loving her and his family each and every day. While he traveled the world there was no place he would rather be than in his much loved Cache Valley. Reed's strong belief in the Gospel guided his life of faith and service to his Church, family and community. We will miss him and celebrate his example of a wonderful life lived very well indeed. A viewing will be held Friday Oct. 14th from 6-8 p.m. At Allen- Hall Mortuary 34 East Center Street in Logan and on Saturday Oct. 15th at 10 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will begin at 11a.m. on Saturday Oct. 15th at the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward chapel at 1260 North 1600 East in Logan, Utah. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Reed Bullen Scholarship, College of Business at Utah State University. Helen Andersen Wednesday, October 12, 2005 PLEASANT VIEW - Helen Kaye Raymond Andersen was called home by her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 10, 2005. She passed away peacefully at her home in Pleasant View surrounded by her immediate family. She was born May 21, 1935 in Logan, Utah to Glen and Ruth Hansen Raymond. She married her lifelong sweetheart, Royce M. Andersen on July 10, 1953 in the Logan Temple. Helen and Royce (Andy) began their acquaintance in grade school at Washington Terrace Elementary. They began dating while attending Weber High School and married shortly after graduation. Helen went on to attend Weber State College. Helen worked for over 35 years at Hill Air Force Base, retiring from Civilian Personnel, but her life's work was her family. She also spent her life developing and nurturing lasting friendships with people throughout the country. She was a past president of BPO DOES Drove 27, and a past supreme president of BPO DOES at the national level. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Helen was also active in the Pleasant View 12th Ward, serving in the Relief Society Presidency, and as Compassionate Service Leader. Helen was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an incredible grandmother. She devoted her life to serving others in many ways. She will long be remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the many traditions that she established including grandkids day, Easter egg decorating, pumpkin painting, Thanksgiving get-togethers, and many more. She is survived by her husband Royce (Andy), two sons, Scott R. Andersen (Marcia), Kyle R. Andersen (Machel) and one daughter, Kari Berrett (Curtis) all of Ogden, 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her beloved Aunt Gert of Ogden. Also surviving are one sister and three brothers, Sheryl Frank of Auburn, CA; Glen V. (Van) Raymond of Pocatello, ID; Jay Raymond, and Bob Raymond, both of Roy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant View 12th Ward Chapel, 2975 North 1000 West, Pleasant View. Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washing Blvd., and on Friday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Pleasant View Ward. Interment will be at the Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Vista Care Foundation in Helen's name. The family would like to thank the staff of Vista Care, particularly Amy Squires for the wonderful care they gave our wife and mom. Dean J. Korth Wednesday, October 12, 2005 CLEARFIELD - Dean J. Korth, 86, died Sunday, October 9, 2005, of a stroke and has gone to Heaven for peace and rest. He was born October 3, 1919 in Garland, Utah, a son of Gustave R. and Carrie C. Johnson Korth. He was loved and nurtured by his parents. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1937. Soon after his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army for four years and served in World War II. He married Marilyn Gwen Horsley in the Salt Lake LDS temple on May 9, 1951. She passed away on November 15, 1981. He married Shirley Warne on February 4, 1984. He worked at Hill Air Force Base as a missile mechanic and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the LDS church and served in various capacities in the church over his lifetime. He loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved his garden each year and spent many hours tending to it, especially his raspberry bushes. He had a love of model airplanes and spent many hours restoring airplanes at the Hill Air Force Base Aerospace Museum. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, one son, Ronald D. Korth, one daughter, Linda A. Korth and three step-daughters, Beverly (Bob Wheelecor) Seeger, Claire (Heath) Roberts, and Lynette McEntire. He is also survived by one brother, Don R. Korth. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marilyn, one son, Gary L. Korth, and two sisters, Margaret McGinty and Vaudis Sanford. Dean was blessed with six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five stepgreat grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Lindquists Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. We will always love you and miss you greatly. Joseph N. Neary Wednesday, October 12, 2005 OGDEN - Joseph N. Neary passed away October 8, 2005 at home surrounded by his family. Joe was born November 11, 1927 in Denver, Colorado to Thomas William Neary and Adeline Persicetti. He was raised in Denver where he graduated from Lakewood High School in 1946. Joe then attended Denver University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration in March of 1952. He married Betty Ann Lehl April 21, 1952. Joe worked for Mountain Bell in Denver and was transferred to Ogden as the District Manager on October 1, 1967. He worked there after it became AT&T until his retirement on December 30, 1982. Upon retiring from the phone company Joe worked as a realtor for Wardley Corporation until 2000. Joe was a member of the Ogden Rotary Club and Director of the Greater Ogden Chamber of Commerce from 1969-1971. He also served as President of The Weber Club. He was active in many other groups including, the Ogden Golf and Country Club, the Ogden Logistics Association, the National Association of Realtors (1985), the Downtown Ogden Development Committee and was Director of Committee of 100 for the Ogden Chamber. He also was active in the United Fund. Joe enjoyed spending time with his wife of 54 years, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and coffee with his buddies. He is survived by his wife Betty Ann, his children, Michael (Wendy) Neary of Willard, Michele (John) Lukes of Ventura, CA., Marty (Shannon) Neary of Denver, CO., Mary Jo (Buck) Finley of Breckenridge, CO., six grandchildren: Jodi, Tristen, Matthew, Tony, Payton, and Carson, and one brother, Donald O. Neary of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the mortuary. Ricketts, 45, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2005 at his home. John was born in Ogden, UT on May 24, 1960 to Milton Ricketts and Carolyn Peterson. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Pratt; one brother, Bill (Kathleen) Ricketts; three sisters, LuAnn Jones, Denice Ricketts and Diana (Jim) Bolinger and many family members. He will be missed by many friends at Chrysalis. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jimmy. Sickinger 81, passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 at home. He was born October 16, 1923 in Henefer, UT the son of Harper H. and Mabel Winters Sickinger. George served in World War II in the United States Marine Corps. Surviving are his two sons, Dallas (Rosemary) Mories, Pleasant Grove, UT; Allan (Susan) Mories, Provo, UT; two daughters, Barbara (Steve) Marino, Clearfield; Carolyn (Hal) Lucas, Lehi UT. George was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. George was preceded in death by his wife Ann, and one granddaughter Racheal. Cynthia Larsen Olpin Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Cynthia Larsen Olpin passed away October 10, 2005 at her home in Ogden, Utah. She was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah to George W. and Martha Adams Larsen. She attended school in Pleasant Grove and at BYU. She married Lawrence D. Olpin on August 16, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed away May 8, 1991. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, L. Don (Esther) Olpin, Glen W (Joy) Olpin, both of Ogden; Noreen (Fred) Randall of Brigham City; brother, Thomas C. (Barbara) Larsen of Heber City; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three people she took in to her home and regarded as her children, Jane (Brent) McBride of Tooele, Kaarina (Jerry) Isaacson of Kaysville and Harry Dejolie of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, Orville L. Larsen, W. Carlyle Larsen, George N. Larsen, and a grandson, Kent. At Cynthia's request no public viewing or funeral service will be held. Dena Lamb Wednesday, October 12, 2005 PLYMOUTH - Dena Ann Knudson Lamb was born on May 13, 1918 in Brigham City, Utah to Jesse Arnold Knudson and Ethel Hannah Kelly, slipped away peacefully on Oct. 7, 2005. She married Verno Keith Lamb on Jan 18, 1939 in the Logan Temple. They've lived in Mississippi, California, and then resided in Plymouth for over 50 years. They had one son, Arnold. She helped her husband in the Lamb's Service Station for 40 years. She also worked in the cafeteria at Nucor. For over 40 years she reported the weather for Plymouth. She served in various church positions but mostly she worked in the young women program. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, and being with her family and friends. She was the chauffeur for "The Old Dolls" in Plymouth. They traveled to the Temple, ball games, out to lunch, and to town. They enjoyed the company of each other. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Keith, five brothers Charles, Kelly, Barry, Owen, and Delbert. She is survived by her brothers Ron, Curtis, and sisters Barbara Olsen and Nina Ward. Six grandchildren Keith (Lynn), Aaron (Joyce), Pacer (Hollie), Nann White (Travis), TaiLynne Christensen and Kendra Merrell, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Esther Florence Peterson Wednesday, October 12, 2005 OGDEN - Esther Florence Mc- Farland Peterson, 96, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2005 in Ogden. She was born March 24, 1909 in West Weber, to Daniel and Esther Greenwell McFarland. She lived in West Weber until the age of nine when the family moved to Farr West. She was a member of the first graduating class of Weber High School in 1927. On May 6, 1933, Florence married Rupert Peterson. He died April 11, 1997. She loved and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many Ward and Stake callings. Surviving are her son, J. Keith (Vernona) Olsen, Harrisville; three grandsons, Ross (Susan) Olsen, Murray (Janalee) Olsen, Bruce (Bonnie) Olsen, 12 greatgrandchildren and five greatgreat- grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Donna (Clair) Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and one brother. She dearly loved her family and friends and leaves her love and thanks to all of them for their love and caring. Orvis Leland Peterson Wednesday, October 12, 2005 HUNTSVILLE- Orvis Leland Peterson, 86, passed away October 8, 2005 in Ogden. Orvis was born December 25, 1918 in Huntsville, UT to Joseph and Mary Peterson. Orvis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Huband and Mary Marker. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brother and three sisters.
