She was born June 15, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Harry and Marietta Buckley. On December 20, 1945 she married Edward F. Kelly in Brigham City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Edward preceded her in death on September 17, 1978. Geri was a member of the North Ogden 9th Ward. She held many positions in the LDS church. She served a temple mission in Australia, and as a guide on Temple Square. Geri was a professional artist, a board member for Senior Citizen, and member of The Palette Club. She enjoyed golf and was an author and illustrator for the childrens book, Goose Fables. Geri was a seeker of truth. Her greatest challenge was to answer the questions, Who am I? and, Where am I going? Her answers have led her to a simple belief of living the scripture, Man is that he might have joy. This kind of joy comes from unconditional love. She wanted the best for everyone, better than they could ever imagine. Surviving are three sons, Scott Kelly, North Ogden; Kirk Kelley, Layton; Brad B. Kelley, Eden; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Buckley of Aspen, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward F. Kelly; her parents Harry and Marietta Buckley; sister, Barbara Lambson; brother Jack Buckley; and son Robert Kelly. The family expresses their thanks to special neighbors and friends, Valora Parry, Charlotte Bromley, Gloria and Richard Myers, Billie Gifford, Heidi Gunderson, and Applegate Hospice. Elsie Barnard Heusser Sunday, October 16, 2005 Elsie Barnard Heusser, 84, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton. She was born July 24, 1921 in Deweyville, Utah, the daughter of John Porter and Lavinia Orme Barnard. She married Raymond Heusser on September 4, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Raymond passed away January 25, 2000. Elsie graduated from Bear River High School. She also attended Utah State University. She lived in Deweyville except for a short time in Bear River City and the last 5 months at Peachtree Assisted Living in Tremonton. She was employed at Sego Milk, Mayfair Market and Smiths and retired from IRS. She treasured her friendships made at IRS. Elsie was a beautiful seamstress and loved to crochet and quilt. She was always game for a trip to Wendover. Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Christmas was a special time at the Heusser house. Elsie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Deweyville Ward. She enjoyed working with her friend Norma Haycock as Work Day Leader and with Beverly Norr on the ward bulletin. Curtis William Slade Sunday, October 16, 2005 KAYSVILLE - Curtis William Slade, 79, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005, at his home of congestive heart failure. Curtis was born February 22, 1926, in Heber City, Utah, son of William Elbert and Chloe Thacker Slade. Graduated Wasatch High School, 1945. Attended University of Utah and graduated from Brigham Young University, 1949. Served an LDS mission to Brazil 1949-1952. Married Roselyn Woodward in the Salt Lake LDS Temple November 6, 1952. Retired from government civil service work at Hill Air Force Base after 35 years. Curtis was happiest when he was playing with his grandchildren, tinkering in his shop (he could repair anything), and outside working in his garden. Survived by his wife, Roselyn, of Kaysville; daughters, Kathleen (Layne) Hofer, Gilbert, AZ; Janalee (David) Green, Fruit Heights; Amy (Terrill) Lemke, Los Alamos, NM; and sons, Keith (Karen), Salt Lake City; Neal (Elaine), Kaysville; Douglas (Terresa), Kaysville; Russell (Darcie), W. Henich loving mother, sister and grandma passed away quietly Friday October 14, 2005 at Lakeview hospital in Bountiful, Utah. She was born December 4, 1923 in Hyrum, Utah the daughter of A.D. and Vesta Allen. Married the love of her live Emil Henich in 1949. Gloy was a buyer for the commissary at Hill Air Force Base. She had a wonderful lifelong friendship with Joy, Betty and Blanch. She loved her kids, daughterin- law; Ashley, Devin, and Amanda. She is survived by her son Alan (Lisa) Henich, daughter Geri Henich and her only granddaughter, Ariana, who brought her so much joy. Also survived by brothers, Doug and Robert Allen, sister Merle Dunkley; sisters-inlaws Marie Hatch and Ann Mabey. Preceded in death by her husband, a brother Clarin and two sisters, Drue and Gwen. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to bestfriends.org Hazel Hall Stokes Sunday, October 16, 2005 MALAD, Idaho - Our beloved Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Hazel Hall Stokes, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 1, 1916 to William and Minnie Hall in Petersburg, Kentucky. She was the 12th of 14 children, seven girls and seven boys. She told many stories of the fun she had growing up on her parents farm, riding horses and swimming in the river with her brothers and sisters. She married J. Glen Hall in 1932 and moved out west to Idaho. They had two children and lived most of their married life in Pocatello. They enjoyed fishing and camping with their family. They were later divorced. She then married Clifton Read in 1958 and moved to Lava Hot Springs and then later to Malad. They spent many years driving throughout the U.S. in their tractor- trailer, hauling freight. They were later divorced. She married Emyrs Ezell in 1975 and they enjoyed several years together before his passing in 1989. She married Ralph Stokes in Elko, Nevada on March 29, 1991 and they were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple, January 16, 1993. They loved to dance and often went dancing 3 or 4 times a week. They loved to play card games, especially pinochle with their many friends in Malad. He passed away September 13, 2001. In 2003, mom moved to the Gardens Retirement Center in Ogden, Utah, where she resided until she passed away. Mom loved to go to the Malad Senior Citizens Center to play pool, have lunch and associate with her many friends. she was a former member of the Eagles Auxillary and was a Pink Lady at the Oneida Co. Hospital. She enjoyed visiting with people and always had a kind word and smile for everyone. She was an active member of the Rock Cliff First Ward in Ogden. She is survived by her daughter; Janice (LeLand) Carlson of Ogden.; son Dalton Hall of Pocatello. 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters and a son in law. Our family would like to thank the wonderful Alliance Hospice workers and the staff at the Gardens who took such good care of Mom. He was born May 31, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of Richard W. and Ina May Collier Johnson. Glen married Rhonda Goodrow on October 29, 1982 in the West Jordan LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Camelot Ward and served in the Montevideo Uruguay- Paraguay mission. Glen had a great love for music and was a member of a top forty band for many years. Norma Scott Sunday, October 16, 2005 CLEARFIELD - Our loving mother, sister and Aunt Norma E. Scott, age 63, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2005 peacefully while sleeping. Norma is survived by her son, Jim Bennett, Melbourne, Florida; sister, Marlene (Terrence) Anderson, Layton, Utah; nephew and two nieces with eight grand nieces and nephews. Norma was born September 18, 1942 in Park City, Utah, daughter of Marlene and George Edward Hunt. Norma attended North Davis Jr. High School and graduated from Davis High School in 1960. Norma was employed by Hill Air Force Base and Kraft Foods as a Data Input Programmer, retiring in 1997. Norma was a gracious, kind and loving host. She enjoyed family and friends immensely and was never to busy to invite loved ones into her home where her warm heart, cold coke and friendly compassion was felt by all. Her bright smile and cheery disposition will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her and stood beside her at one of the quarter machines in one of the casinos that she could never say no to. Steven Jay Hunter Sunday, October 16, 2005 ROY - Steven Jay Hunter, 38, returned to his Father in Heaven Wednesday, October 12, 2005 after battling an illness. He was born January 14, 1967 in Ogden, Utah to Jerald and Tamara Russel Hunter. He was married to Jennifer Johnson Hunter September 26, 1992 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in San Diego, California, and was happy to serve in any capacity he was asked. Steven truly loved the Lord and His marvelous work. Steven worked for the LDS Church for many years in different capacities. He was a loving father and husband, he enjoyed spending time with family. He had a passion for life. Steven is survived by his wife, Jennifer L. Hunter, his mother Tamara Hunter, his father Jerald Hunter, his brother Garry (Tina) Hunter and children, his sisters Lisa A. (Chad) Hunter Walton and children, Diane Hunter, and his four beautiful children, Corbin, Kylee, Kiersten and Carson Hunter. She was born January 9, 1920, in Flatbush, New York, to Henry and Alma Rolowski Piontek. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn, New York. She had lived in Panama for a couple of years before settling in Lakeside, California where she lived most of her life. She had resided in the Roy area for five and one half years. Dorothy graduated from High school in New York and went on to pursue a degree in Nursing. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Dorothy is survived by a son, David Raymond Thomason, Cave Junction, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Michael Denton Thomason. At her request no services will be held. Reed West Sunday, October 16, 2005 FRUIT HEIGHTS - Reed "Z" West (83) passed away Friday, October 14th 2005 in the McKay Dee Hospital due to complications of cancer. He was born in Benjamin, Utah to James Albert and Elisa Ann Vincent West. He served about four years in the army during WWII. Four of his brothers also served in the military during WWII. Reed graduated with a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Utah in 1950. He married his sweetheart, DeLoris Peterson on August 27, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after a successful career. Reed had a great love for traveling and has visited every state in the United States, and many of the Canadian Provinces. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. He will be long remembered for his delightful stories and poems. Reed and his wife fulfilled an LDS mission in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. They also served in the Bountiful Temple as temple workers. He is survived by his wife, daughters; Lynne (Michael) Criddle of West Valley; Anita (Richard) Sheffield of Gilbert, Arizona; Marilyn (Randall) Warren of Gunnison; Jan (Elroy) Golightly of Fruit Heights; and Amy West of Honolulu, Hawaii. His sons: Dale (Debbie) West of Layton; LaMar (Sharon) West of American Falls, Idaho; David (Kim) West of Draper and 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was born November 3, 1916 to Eli Ray and Tina Matilda Kunzler Morris. He married Dorothy Kersten October 30, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He lived in and loved Park Valley all of his life and graduated from Box Elder High School. LeGrand was a member of the Park Valley Ward and served a mission in the North Central States Mission. He and Dorothy served in the Orlando, Florida Temple Mission. He served as a ward clerk, seventy, high priest group leader and a member of the bishopric. Interment at Park Valley Cemetery. Grant V. Johnson Sunday, October 16, 2005 OGDEN - Grant Verl Johnson, 85, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at a local care center of causes incident to age. He was born January 18, 1920 in Clover, Utah, a son of Mark Anthony and Elizabeth Ellen Maxwell Johnson. He lived in Ogden since 1949. On February 21, 1948, Grant married Myrtle Ann Black in Ogden. She died November 8, 1975. He married Myrtle Tingey on August 25, 1976 in Ogden. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Bishop of the Ogden 8th Ward and served two missions with his sweetheart to Billings, Montana and Kirtland, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War II and was part of the Occupational Army at Okinawa. Grant retired from Hill Air Force Base following many years of service as a civil engineer. Grant enjoyed remodeling his home, traveling throughout the United States and visiting with his family. Surviving are his wife Myrtle, Ogden; two sons and two daughters, Clifford Grant (Susan) Johnson, Vernal, UT; Wayne B. Johnson, Alexandria, VA; Karma Jo (Thomas) Donnelly, Clearfield; Beverly Ann (Alan) Clark, Harrisville; 35 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife Myrtle Ann, and 11 brothers and sisters. He was born October 25, 1943 in Los Angeles, California, a son of Clinton and Katherine Uzelac Lee. Richard was a lifelong resident of the Ogden area. He retired from Hill Air Force Base following many years of service as a contract negotiator. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing. Bish, 55, passed away Friday October 14, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born September 15, 1950 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Adrian and Sharon Hammon Draayer. Married Pat Bish, later divorced. Connie graduated from Bonneville High and attended Weber State University. She retired from Hill Air Force Base. She enjoyed golfing, shopping and gardening in her yard. She was a member of the HAFB Golf Association and volunteered at the 2002 Olympics. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Bish (Bart), father Adrian and step-mother Barbara C. Draayer, mother Sharon Bell and sister Virginia Gerrish. Preceded in death by three brothers, Monte, Vaughn and Lynn.
