Eastlund Friday, September 2, 2005 WASHINGTON TERRACE - John Edward Eastlund, 84, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born August 26, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska, a son of Charles and Floy Parrish Eastlund. On September 20, 1942, John married Doris Jean Hall in Boone, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of Iowa moving to Utah in 2002. John was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Missionary and Alliance Church in Boone, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a frozen food warehouse manager for Fareway Food Stores and retired in 1982. He also worked for Sevde Relocation for the past 19 years. John enjoyed going fishing with his son Keith. He also enjoyed reading. Surviving are his wife, Doris and one son, Keith Edward Eastlund, both of Washington Terrace. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister Dorothy and one brother Charles. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. She was born September 18, 1919 to James William and Minnie May Snyder Astle in Garland, UT. She married Lyman Theurer Thorpe September 15, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died 26 February 1994She was reared and educated in Garland, graduating from Bear River High School. Ida and her husband owned and operated their family farm in Garland. She enjoyed crafts, doing handiwork, reading, and poetry. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Surviving are her children: Ada Jean (Lowell) Vance, Tremonton, UT; Tyra (McAldon) Thompson, Phoenix, AZ; Lyman "L.H." Mrs. Kara Lynn Eck Friday, September 2, 2005 February 1, 1965- August 31, 2005 Mrs. Kara Lynn Eck, age 40, of Zebulon passed away Thursday, August 31, 2005 at Christian Ministries Hospice. Mrs. Eck was born in Buma Park, California on February 1, 1965 to the late Jerry Kenneth Burk and the late Linda Metcalf. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Christy Burk. Mrs. Eck formerly worked for Delta Airlines. Gary Dennis Davis Friday, September 2, 2005 OGDEN - Major Gary Dennis Davis USAF (Retired) - North Ogden, 70, died Monday August 29, 2005 at his home. He was born March 29, 1935, son of Vinson F. Davis and Louise Oyler. He married Carolyn Dickemore on October 11, 1960 in the Logan LDS Temple who preceded him in death on May 24, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. He is survived by his second wife Sharon Truman Davis whom he married on January 3, 2001 in the Ogden LDS Temple. He is also survived by his six children, two grand children, as well as six step children, 17 step grandchildren, and one step great -grandchild. He served over 20 years in the United States Air Force piloting T34's, T37's, T33's, B47's, C47's, and C141's. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War with 235 hours of combat flying. He was a member of the LDS church and served a lifetime in various positions with his final calling being that of High Councilman in the Rockcliff Stake. Mary Yvonne Jenson Spencer Friday, September 2, 2005 LAYTON - Mary Yvonne Jenson Spencer, 79 of East Layton, died at her home August 30, 2005. She was born on the Crane Ranch in Bennington, Idaho, October 14, 1925. She was the beloved wife of Ronald Lloyd Spencer, whom she married June 16, 1947. Married fifty-two years, in the Logan Temple, they will now be reunited. She was a proud mother of four accomplished and educated children; Mary Florence Spencer, Layton; Bennion Lloyd (Malinda) Spencer, Riverton; Robert Ronald (Ida) Spencer, Plain City; and Mark Jenson (Jeanette) Spencer, Layton. She was a retired registered nurse and served in the U.S. Navy Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II, after having graduated from St. Marks Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She gave of her services and time in many LDS Church positions, including Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Parent Teacher Association, Red Cross, 4-H Leadership and community safety programs. She donated hours in the Polio Prevention Programs. She organized the Ladies Cultural Arts Club in Layton. Yvonne and her beloved husband traveled extensively during his retirement, especially enjoying their many friends on the Central Coast of California. They spend their winters in Morro Bay and Pismo Beach, California. Her greatest pride was the heights of educational achievement and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren as teachers and university instructors, authoring books and television productions. She loved oil painting and writing. She leaves to her family an extraordinary example of love, compassion, honesty, integrity, and service. She will be missed by her beloved family of four children, 12 grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren, and will now join her beloved husband. Private family services will be held. He was born May 30, 1953 in Ogden to Edward and Effie Martinez. He graduated from Layton High and attended Weber State U. He married Christine Henry on Jan. 4, 1975. They had three sons, Jamie (Gaybrielle), Scottsdale AZ, Jody and Kelly, Ogden. Near the end of his life, Jim and Kelly developed a strong bond. Jim was in several rock bands in his youth and enjoyed playing the drums and guitar. He was inventive and held a tool patent with much pride. Jim was a member of the Catholic Church and lived a spiritual life. He is survived by his wife and sons, grandchildren Brenna and Logan, Brothers, Valley (Alice), Layton, Fermin (Emma), Layton, Floyd (Ana), Clinton, Robert, Clearfield, Sisters Alice Martinez (Leo), Clearfield, Margaret Gabaldon (Tony), Ogden, Ethel Beusinus (Steve), Vancouver WA, Lorrain Rea (John), Virginia Beach VA and mother-in-law Zoe and several nieces and nephews. Moore Friday, September 2, 2005 HENEFER - Eugene (Gene) F. Moore, loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2005 in Layton, Utah. He was born Jan. 16, 1926 in Evanston, Wyoming to Clarence and Elizabeth Wright Moore. Gene grew up in Castle Rock, Utah, site of the famed Pony Express Station, and graduated from North Summit High School. He married Dorothy Stevenson in 1945; they were later divorced. He served in WWII in Germany. On September 30, 1973, he married NaVee Dawson Bune in Henefer, UT. Gene retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after over 40 exemplary years as Section Foreman from Rock Springs, Wyoming to Devil's Slide, Utah. He and his wife then became "snowbirds," making their home in Henefer during the summer and wintering in Quartzsite, Arizona. He loved playing Pinochle, spending time patrolling the "summerground," enjoying his daily glass of iced tea while chatting with friends, and buying a new car or truck every year. He made many friends wherever he went and was always more than willing to help a friend in need. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and former member of the Henefer and Quartzsite Lions' Clubs, and also the Footprinters Club.G ene is survived by his widow; two sons and a daughter: Ronald (Sylvia) Moore, Robert (Thella) Moore, and Debra (Chet) Witala; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Lucille Jewell Belnap Friday, September 2, 2005 Eternally Together ROY - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, joined her eternal companion on Sunday, August 28, 2005. She was born March 14, 1923 in Mesquite, New Mexico, a daughter of Enoch LeRoy and Cena Elizabeth Hawkins Jewell. She wass born during a cattle drive into Mexico and a dust storm. She lived in Colonial Juarez Mexico until age 14, when she and her family moved to Hanford, California. She lived in Hanford until 18 years of age.A t age 18, Mom came to Hooper, Utah, to marry our Dad, Wendell Taylor Belnap. They lived in Hooper until December of 1955 when they moved to Roy with their two children. Dad died January 27, 1974 and Mom resided in Roy until her death. Mom's life was a life of service. During World War II there was a sewing factory established in Hooper and she would help sew tents for our Servicemen. Other jobs she had over the years were at Commercial Security Bank, The Roy Cannery, 2nd Street Dept. Naval Supply Depot and Hill Air Force Base. Mom was a faithful, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served two full-time missions; first to the California San Bernardino Mission and second to the Texas Houston Mission. She served in many callings including Sunday School, Primary Teacher, Y.W.M.I.A. Teacher, Relief Society, and Ward Librarian. Mom loved to sew and crochet. Her children and grandchildren have many quilts and afghans that she lovingly made for them. Primary Children's Medical Center, Shriner's Hospital and the University of Utah Burn Center have also been recipients of her love and her talent for making quilts. Many times her children would hear her say, "I'd rather be sewing than mowing!". She is survived by her son, Kenneth J. (Claudia) Belnap, Grass Range, MT; two daughters, Maxcene B. (Navitt) Spotted Elk, Blanding, UT; Luwen B. (Randy) Davis, Roy; her older brother, Lee (Elaine) Jewell, Porterville, CA; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Prantil Friday, September 2, 2005 Anne A. Prantil 91, passed away August 29, 2005 at the Silver Ridges Care Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born December 14, 1913, in Hibbing, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Santina Allegrezza. She was raised in Minnesota, she moved to Ogden, Utah at the age of 21 to take a job in her Aunt's restaurant, where she met and later married Ed Prantil in 1935 and later divorced in 1961. Ann was a hard worker all of her life. She worked in several restaurants and was later a material handler at DDO. Anne enjoyed rock hunting and was a member of the Golden Spike Rock Club, she was also a member of the Catholic Women's League. She loved to travel, camp out and spend time in her garden. She made friends easily and would always make time for her friends. Anne was famous for her cooking, which is probably one of the reasons why she had so many friends. Surviving are Anne's children Lenore K. Wylupski of Las Vegas, Nevada and Joseph E. (Marsha) Prantil of South Weber, Utah. She is also survived by her sister Larraine Faro who resides in Florida, ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Louise Coltran, one grandson and eight siblings. The family wishes to thank the Nathan Adelson Hospice program (4141 Swanson Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119) for their special care during Anne's final days. Anabelle Bugger Friday, September 2, 2005 Annabelle Bugger, 92, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away Monday July 25, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born in Tacoma, Nevada on November 2, 1912, a daughter of Lewis J. Petty and Sarah Ann Reese Petty. She married Mario Lommori July 28, 1938 in Carlin, Nevada. He died December 17, 1945. Married John J. Bugger January 29, 1947 in Reno, Nevada. He died May 30, 1984. The joys of her life were her family, her home and her friends. She loved doing hand work and doing things for others. He was born August 17, 1948 in Grand Valley, Colorado the son of Leroy Ross and Gene Cundall. Luther married Patricia Adams on December 16, 1988 in Hagerstown, MA. He served in the military while stationed in Germany. Bill worked for the IRS for 20 years. He loved his grandchildren, Tristan, Kegan, Tavia, Shalae, Dillin, Jacob, Taylor and Ivan. She was born January 29, 1932 in Ogden to Arch and Silvia Wilson Storey. She married Vern Wells Christensen in Elko, Nevada; they were later divorced but remained close until he passed away May 11, 2005. Surviving are her children Judy Morgan, Ogden; Christopher Christensen, Ogden; Peggy Nellwell, SC; Joyce Raymond, AZ; Frank Christensen, Ogden; 10 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. Cauley Friday, September 2, 2005 SOUTH OGDEN - Grace Euveda Harper Cauley, 71, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hosptial. She was born February 26, 1934 in Odum, Georgia, a daughter of William Berry and Catherine LouVinney Davis Harper. On December 1, 1950, Grace married Herbert William Cauley in Douglas, Georgia. Herbert preceded her in death on April 17, 1992. She had lived in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and in the Ogden area. Grace was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission in the Atlanta, Georgia Temple and dedicated her life doing genealogy. Grace loved to travel the world with family and friends. Surviving are her daughter, Gloria (Richard) Rasmussen, her son, Anthony (Karen) Cauley, nine grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Inez Eades, Vera Pharr and Oleatha Stone, and two brothers, James Harper and Louis Harper. Preceding Grace in death were her parents, her husband Herbert, and four brothers, Arthur Harper, Homer Harper, Harvey Harper and Charles Harper.
