King Saturday, September 3, 2005 OGDEN - John DaVern King, 83, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. He was born June 19, 1922 in Ogden, a son of John Bruce and Verna Wilson King. He graduated from Weber High School where he played baseball, football and basketball. In football they won the Little Brown Jug which had not been won by Weber High for eight years. Also that year, he was voted captain of the football team and Happy Warrior. On June 24, 1942, John married his lifelong sweetheart, Norma Ella Leigh in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Four Battle Stars. Following the war, John worked at General Mills for 20 years before its closure. He then began work at Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal worker for the remainder of his career. John and Norma have always been their grandchildren's biggest fans, never missing a ball game or any other activity. Dad was a loving, devoted, caring husband, father and grandfather. He was an excellent role model to all who knew him. Surviving are his wife Norma of Ogden; two sons and two daughters, Dennis (Connie) King, and Brent (Marlene) King, both of Ogden; Diana K. Scott, North Ogden; Pam (Wayne) Hayes, Ogden; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by two brothers Lyle and Lloyd King, and one grandson Ryan Barker. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Tuesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Mary Lou Farr Lloyd Saturday, September 3, 2005 1929 - 2005 Mary Lou Farr Lloyd, of Kaysville, Utah, passed away on September 1, 2005. She was born March 1, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Willard Ballantyne and Jane Lucretia Brown Farr. She spent many of her growing up years in Salt Lake City and Richfield, UT. She graduated from East High in 1947. Our angel haired mother was eternally 29 years old. She married Grant S. Lloyd on May 26, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1954, Mary Lou and Grant moved to Just-A-Mere Farm in Kaysville and began attending the Old North Farmington ward. Mary Lou served in many positions in all the auxiliaries of the church, including Stake Relief Society President. One of her longest callings in the church was that of ward organist. She held that position for nearly 40 years. Music became one of her great loves and brought great joy into her life. In 1996, Mary Lou and Grant served an LDS mission at the Visitors Center in Sharon, Vermont, the birthplace of Joseph Smith. Mary Lou worked side by side with her dear husband in creating and establishing Cherry Hill Resort. Together for over 30 years, she and Grant helped greet people to their little farm from all over the world. Mary Lou is survived by Grant, her husband of 56 years, her five children: Kathleen (Kent) Gauchay, Idaho Falls, ID; Scott (Marilyn), Kaysville, UT; Bruce (Debbie), Kaysville, UT; Keith (Tammy), Kaysville, UT; Carol (Blair) Barton, Kaysville, UT; 22 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; sister, Louise McAllister, Vancouver, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Willard Farr, three sisters, Violet Higham, Zella Smith, Ethel Gardiner, and a granddaughter, Michelle Lloyd. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Fairways LDS Chapel, 1533 N. 1075 W. Farmington, UT. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery. Mary Hoeft Chadwick Gardner Saturday, September 3, 2005 HONEYVILLE - Mary Hoeft Chadwick Gardner was born June 13, 1914, in Vernal, Utah, and died September 1, 2005, in Brigham City, Utah. She was the only child of Edward and Hazel Burgess Hoeft. She graduated from Uintah High School in 1932 and attended Utah State Agricultural College (USU) in Logan, Utah. She married Rulon W. Chadwick on September 3, 1935, and they made their home in Ogden. They later divorced. She married Leon D. Gardner on July 14, 1951, and moved to Honeyville, Utah, where she lived until moving to Brigham City in 1996. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many church organizations. She was postmaster in the Honeyville Utah Post Office from 1972 until 1981. She belonged to various community and professional organizations including Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Retired Postmasters Association, Brigham City Business and Professional Womens club, and the American Association of University Women. She is survived by two daughters, Adriana Forsgren (James), Mantua; Mary Jo Wight (Ross), Spanish Fork; stepdaughters, Jean Sorenson (Vernon), Eugene, Oregon; Barbara Avondet, Ogden; stepsons, J. Rex Gardner (Janice), Larkspur, California, Arthur Ott Gardner (Audrey), Blackfoot, Idaho; stepdaughtersin- law, Merle Jean Gardner, Honeyville; and Bonnie Gardner, Blackfoot, Idaho; 31 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law, John W. Chadwick (Nelda), North Salt Lake; and sister-in-law, Laura Kump (LaVar), North Ogden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at the Honeyville LDS Chapel, 2620 West 6980 North, Honeyville, Utah. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2005 and at the church, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Honeyville Cemetery. Caleb J. Braunberger Saturday, September 3, 2005 ROY - Our precious son, Caleb J. Braunberger, was born and passed away August 31, 2005. Caleb is survived by his parents, Mike and Deanna Braunberger; sisters Courtney and Brooklyn; and a brother, Myles. Caleb is also survived by his grandparents Dr. Raymond and Beverly Hinton of St. George, Utah; Dan and Joan Braunberger of West Haven, Utah; two great-great grandmothers, four great-grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A private graveside ceremony will be held at 11am Saturday, September 3rd, at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Ogden. We would like to thank Dr. Jed Naisbitt as well as the nurses and staff of Ogden Regional Medical Center for their exceptional care, compassion, and support in our time of need.
