Born to John Henry and Belva Hess Laub July 28, 1911 in Fielding, Utah. She married Kenneth Henry Cornwall October 3, 1935 they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away May 8, 1987. She lived in Bear River Valley all her life. She graduated from Bear River High School and LDS Seminary. Gwen worked at J.C. Penney's, Cowley's and Falk's for a total of 30 years. She loved her family, cooking, canning, baking, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in numerous callings. She had six children: Nedra (Donrey) Secrist, Brigham City, Gloria (Bud) Knudsen, Portage, Kenneth Laub (Katherine) Cornwall, Denver, Sherry (Lorin) Bingham, Collinston, Sharon (Ronald) King, Garland, James Ernest Cornwall, Bear River, two sisterin-laws: Beth Laub Vance and Eva Lou Laub, both of St. George, 21 grandchildren, 65 greatgrandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, Kenneth L. Cornwall; four brothers: Roland, Merrill, Rex and Max Laub, two sisters: Fern McDermaid and Gertrude Burns, one grandson and two great granddaughters. We wish to express a special thanks to the Bear River Care Center for their loving care of our Mother. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. Idella C. Davis Allison Sunday, September 18, 2005 NORTH OGDEN Idella C. Davis Allison, 85, passed away Friday, September 16, 2005 at Mountain View Center of natural causes. She was born January 7, 1920 in Logan, Utah to Orson Heber and Idella Nyman Cronquist. She married Howard Davis who preceded her in death. In 1974 she then married Wilfred Allison. He also preceded her in death. She and Howard lived in Ogden, Utah and San Lorenzo, CA. After his death she moved to the Salt Lake area and after remarrying she moved to North Ogden. She lived and attended school in Benson Ward, Utah and North Logan, Utah. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ben Lomond 5th Ward. She loved temple work, visiting teaching, her home, her garden and her friends. She was an avid bowler and golfer in her younger years. She enjoyed watching all sports. She is survived by her son, Michael of North Ogden, three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Katie) Davis, Nicole (Gary) Brook and Jodell (Eric) Ghesquiere, all of Colorado and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Allison, Taylor, Colton, Chandler and Kennedy. She is also survived by her sister, Renia Mooseman of Spokane, WA and one brother, R. Oly Cronquist of Smithfield. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, three brothers, four sisters and her dear son Gary G. Davis. Beatrice G. "Bea" Sherfy Sunday, September 18, 2005 NORTH OGDEN - Beatrice G. "Bea" Sherfy, 84, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2005, at McKay-Dee Hospital. She was born May 4, 1921, in Massillon, Ohio, to Derrell and Gertrude McGee Thomas. Bea was raised and educated in Pennsylvania. She moved to the Ogden area in 1969. On April 12, 1948 Bea married John Browning Sherfy, Jr. in Philadelphia, PA. She served 22 years with The American Red Cross. Bea loved camping and was an avid reader. S he was a wonderful mother, and loved spending time with her two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Lynn (Harold) Ekstrom, Harrisville; Kris (Jeff) Henderson, Richfield; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bea was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 21st, at 11 a.m. at Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. Raymond Louis Bertagnolli Sunday, September 18, 2005 OGDEN - Raymond Louis Bertagnolli, passed away Friday, September 16, 2005, at McKay- Dee Hospital. He was born February 4, 1930, in Ogden, to Mary Rose Nardin Bertagnolli and Adolfo Giuseppe Bertagnolli. Raymond attended St. Joseph's, Ogden High, Weber State and Air University, Ohio. He was federally employed for 35 years, mainly in managerial positions. He received six Superior/Outstanding Performance awards and over 30 letters of Commendation/ Appreciation. Raymond served in the U.S. Armed Forces receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1953. He was a member of Notre Dame Alumni Association of Utah and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Raymond is survived by his sister, Norma (James) Manos; his exwife, Margo; his sons, James (Kathleen), Todd (partner, Doug Player), Mark (partner, Gina Southwick) and Chris (Jennifer); grandchildren, Troy (Malinda), Shane, Brandy, Misty Phillips, Madeline, and Juan Carlos; great-grandchildren, Adrian Gonzales, Madison; and his puppy, Poco. She was the daughter of Dorothy McMillan Swarbrick and Perry A. McMillan. Per her wishes, her ashes were scattered at sea. Jo Mama, as she was lovingly known by family and friends, had made Apple Valley her home for the past 8 years, never far from her constant companion and best friend, her dog, Humphrey. She spent her life throughout the western United States, touching other peoples lives with her outgoing spirit and friendliness. She cherished her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her friends, golfing, traveling, but most of all, her walks with her dog. Jo retired from HAFB in Utah, and worked in many other occupations throughout her life. Jo is survived by five children, Debra (Bob) Hanusek Victorville, CA., Marsha Hawkins and Nora (Herb) Tannert both of Apple Valley, CA., John (Annette) Todd Chino Hills, CA., Cory (Joy) Todd Marysville, BC, Canada, 20 grandkids and 25 great-grandkids, a sister Barbara (Stan) Unck, Roy, Utah, nephews, cousins and an uncle, her former husband, James Ware Tucson, AZ. Nadine Atwood Sunday, September 18, 2005 HILL AIR FORCE BASE - Nadine Atwood, 24, passed away suddenly of an unexpected condition at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, on Sunday, September 11, 2005. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother. Nadine graced all she met with her strength, will, loyalty, humor, and love. She truly was an angel sent to us all. She is survived by her husband Brian, and son Jeremy B. Atwood, both of Hill Air Force Base; mother Annelie Loerscher, father Thomas Schantz, brothers Florian Loerscher and Daniel Loerscher, all of Trier, Germany; grandparents Rosefriede and Matthias Schwickerath, Orenhofern, Germany; great-grandmother Luise Etges, Frankfurt, Germany; mother-in-law Carol Speck, stepfather-in-law Gary Speck, father-in-law Richard Atwood, Jr., stepmother-in-law Nancy Fife, and brother-in-law Patrick Atwood, all of Minden, Nevada; sister-in-law Corey Jarboe, Pahrump, Nevada; and many other family members including cousins, nieces, and nephews. Steven Jacobo Sunday, September 18, 2005 OGDEN - Steven Jacobo, 59, of Ogden died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 from an illness. He was born April 30, 1946 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Inez and Angela Carmona Jacobo. Steve was employed with Deseret Industry, ZCMI and retired from Meyer & Frank. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He attended the Orchard Park Ward. Steve enjoyed playing pool, darts, watching sports and cooking (he made the best tortillas). He also enjoyed being with his family and especially loved his nieces and nephews. Steve believed in working hard and believed in having a sense of humor. Steve was known for playing jokes on his co-workers, friends and family. Surviving are his six brothers, Hector Herrera, Waterford, CA; Ruben Jacobo, Salt Lake City; Henry Jacobo, David Jacobo, George Jacobo and Michael Jacobo, all of Ogden; four sisters, Virginia Montoya, Ogden; Gloria Esquibel, Layton; Louise Montoya, and Mercy Jacobo, Ogden; 22 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Angela Jacobo; two older brothers, Raymond Herrera and Carlos Herrera. Smith Sunday, September 18, 2005 PERRY Dickson Clark Smith, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 16, 2005 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 20, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a son of Harold and Eugina Clark Smith. He married Genevie Therese Porche on September 6, 1952 in Morganza, Louisiana. They were later divorced. Dickson married Patrolena Archuletta on January 6, 1983 in Brigham City, Utah. He served in the United States Navy as an aerial photographer during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge. He is a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church. Dickson was a science and math teacher in Oklahoma. He moved to Brigham City, where he worked at the Intermountain Indian School for 21 years. He loved his dogs from the time he was a little boy through the later years of his life. He loved his family, the outdoors and many other hobbies. Surviving are his wife, Pat of Perry; his six children, Dickson M. (Jean) Smith, Brigham City; Gizelle Y. (Reed) Pettingill, Englewood, Ohio; Keith E. (Lynn) Smith, Brigham City; Elise Y. (James) Olsen, Perry; Michael E. Bird, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Earlene M. (Craig Herbert) Bird, Perry; 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one brother, Robert (Debbie) Smith, Syracuse, New York and one sister, Eugenia Heenan, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Center and Dr. Markeson of Brigham City and the loving care provided by nurses from Harmony Home Health & Hospice. Val Martinez Sunday, September 18, 2005 CALIFORNIA - Val Martinez passed away on Sept. 1, 2005 from a battle with cancer. Val was born to Ben Martinez and Andrea White Vigil in Del Norte, CO. He was raised and educated in Davis County, UT. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951. He married Annie Ortega in 1956 in Fresno, CA. From this union they had four children, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all residing in California. After service in the Army Val became an iron worker for the State of California for 30 years. Val is survived by his wife, Annie and four children: Connie (Louis) Guerrero; Debra (Albert) Burrunda; Bobbie Martinez and Gene (Angie) Martinez; eleven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren; his siblings, two brothers, Arthur (Rosie) Martinez, Clinton; Alfonso (Virginia) Martinez, Layton; six sisters, Jennie Montoya of Clearfield; Inez Cota, Dorothy (Sam) Sosa, Kathryn Gallegos, Rosie Martinez and Josephine Martinez, all of Ogden; and many nieces and nephews. Val is preceded in death by both parents, seven siblings, Ben Martinez, Richard Martinez, Felix Martinez, Martha Quintana, Betty Gallegos, Maria (Del Rio) Garcia, Susie Herrera.
