Thomas Mrs. Tryphena Jones Payne Thomas, 77, 539 22nd, died Friday evening at St. Benedict’s Hospital. Mrs. Thomas was born July 28, 1884 in Wales, a daughter of Jonathan and Elisa Jones. The family came to the United States when she was a child, living in Salt Lake City. She lived in Wyoming prior to coming to Ogden in 1914. She was married to Lyman Payne on May 26, 1905, in Evanston, Wyo. He died Oct. 5, 1928. She was married to John Thomas on May 26, 1948 in Evanston. She had been employed many years at Scrivens Book Store. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Lyzena Sharar, Olympia, Wash; two stepsons, John I. Thomas, Ogden, and David L. Thomas, Columbus, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Avery (Margaret) Wheelwright, Ogden; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. A. E. (Blodwen) Goodman, San Jose, Calif. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington, by Rev. A. Cadman Garretson of the First Presbyterian Church. The family requests no viewing.
