The submitter has given permissionto the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection Bloxom, Charles Pen. 35 1790-1803 Soldier. 9th Virginia Regt. *Widow Comfort Accomack County See Also: Boush, Goodrich and Hogshire, Robert At a Court held in Accomack County January 26 1790 Comfort Bloxom (widow of Charles) provided a certificate from his excellancy, Beverly Randolph Esquire, governor of the Commonwealth, allowing her eight pounds per year as a pension, which certificate followed in these words to wit: I do with the advice of council hereby testify that Comfort Bloxom, a widow of Charles alias Stewart is put on a list of pensioners with an allowance of eight pounds per annum commencing on the first day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety. Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 13th day of November 1790. Beverly Randolph Teste: Samuel Coleman Ordered that the Sheriff collect the above pension and pay the same unto the said Comfort Bloxom order ____ ____ ____ ____. A True Copy Teste:Littleton Savage *At a court held in Accomack County November the first 1796: Ordered that it be certified to the Executive that Comfort Bloxom, widow of Charles, alias Stewart Bloxom, a poor soldier who died in the Continental service is still a widow and in indigent circumstances and that the Sheriff pay her the allowance made her by the Executive. Teste Littleton Savage 1796 **Transcriber's notes--Further documents attesting to Comfort Bloxom's remaining on the pensioners list were signed by James Wood, Henry Lee, James Monroe and John Page. They were listed as governors in each document. Last document recorded was January 7 1804.
