Thomas Sumpter.  General Thomas Sumpter was born in Albemarle Co., Virginia, July 
14, 1736; died South Mount, South Carolina, June 1, 1832.  His brothers, William 
and John, were land owners in Albemarle Co., Virginia, 1763 to 1776.  His sister, 
Martha, married William Suddarth.  There seems to be very scant information 
concerning General Sumpter's descendants.  An Eliza Sumpter married James W. 
Hurrell, in Santee, South Carolina, April 19, 1807.
