A native of Albemarle County, he was the son of Virgie Kirby and Lawrence A. Gibson. He was a superintendent of the grounds at the Boars Head Inn and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Alice Wood Gibson; three brothers, Bernard, Gene and Rogers Gibson, all of Keswick; six sisters, Mrs. Joice Payne, Mrs. Mary Lee Wood, Mrs. Evelyn Sipe, Mrs. Frances Wood and Mrs. Gladys Madison, all of Keswick and Mrs. Alice Breeden of Greenville, S. C. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Daniel Lowe officiating, with interment in Holly Memorial Gardens.
