He was born May 5, 1939, in Charlottesville, son of the late Thomas L. Baber and Lottie B. Baber. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Bragg Baber; three daughters, Becky Goodwin of Charlottesville, Wanda Fox and Connie Baber, both of Afton; three sisters, Mary B. Clements of Batesville, Patricia B. Dean of Barboursville and Helen Morgan of Huntersville, N.C.; two brothers, Jacob A. Baber of Durham, N.C., and Russell Layman of Waynesboro; two grandsons, Michael Wayne Fox of Afton and Matthew Ryan Goodwin of Charlottesville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, R. Eugene Layman, and Dewey L. Layman and a grandson, Christopher David Goodwin. Mr. Baber was a carpenter with Virginia Land Co. Graveside funeral services will be ------at Wildrose Cemetery at Batesville.
