Born on Sept. 22, 1923, in Louisa, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Gertrude Rigsby Knight. She was the devoted wife of the late Branch Edward Dabney Jr., who preceded her in death in 1974. Mrs. Dabney worked for 17 years for the F. Jacobson Pajama Factory. She was a proud member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #731. Survivors include her three children, Betty Jo Lloyd of Keswick, Doris Violet Dabney of Charlottesville and Douglas Eugene Dabney of Keswick; nine grandsons, Calvin Wayne Dabney (Sandra Denise) of Keswick, Ronald Keith Dabney of Fork Union, both of whom were raised as her own by Carrie, Thomas David Seale of Charlottesville, Marty Dabney of Troy, Ronnie Dabney, Rocky Lane Dabney, Randy Dabney, all of Charlottesville, Rex Allen Dabney of Keswick, Rowdy Coe Dabney of Keswick; two granddaughters, Bobbie Jo Lloyd of Charlottesville, Debra Ann Ryder of Gordonsville; 10 great-grandchildren, Calvin Shawn Dabney, Cassandra Megan Dabney, Ashley Cristine Dabney, Joshua Wayne Ryder, Travis Heath Ryder, Dustin Wayne Ryder, Heather Caroline Ryder, Brittney Nicole Dabney, Justin Dabney, Matthew Dabney; two brothers, Floyd Knight, Edward Knight, both of Troy; three sisters, Eula Proffit of Troy, Violet Bright and Louise High, both of Richmond; four devoted friends, Herbert and Pat Mullinex of Farmville, David Wood of Keswick, Jeannie A. Davis of Keswick; and many other friends and neighbors who will greatly miss her. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hampton Knight and Jacob Knight. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Deaverdam Baptist Church with Pastor Robert F. Holly officiating. Interment will be in Beaverdam Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at Teague Funeral Home. The Charlottesville Women of the Moose will honor Mrs. Dabney with Moose Rites at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
