ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Cleveland Gray Webber, Sr., 24 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Source: The Daily Progress Cleveland Gray Webber, Sr., age 89, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away December 24, 2003, in a local nursing home. Born in Earl, N.C., he was the son of the late Jessie Clinton and Blanche Olive Webber. His first wife, Dorothy Young Webber, mother of his three children, preceded him in death. Mr. Webber was the owner/operator of the University Cafeteria on the Corner for over 37 years. The Cafeteria brought joy to his life, being blessed with devoted employees and a loyal clientele. Upon his retirement, he moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he relaxed and was an avid surf fisherman. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to appreciate the art of surf fishing. He returned to live in Charlottesville in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Alfieri Webber; two sons, Cleveland Gray Webber, Jr., of Forest City, N.C. and David Jessie Webber of Charlottesville; one daughter, Blanche Leigh Webber of Newtown Square, Pa.; two stepsons, John Mark Scott of Charlottesville and Keith Rea Scott of Fairfax Station, Va. He is also survived by five grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild. He is further survived by three brothers, John N. Webber of Pulaski, Va., and Robert C. Webber of Marietta, Ga.; R. Truman Webber of Bristol, Tenn.; one sister, Phoebe Ann W. Pullen of Rocky Mount, N.C. He was pre-deceased by his stepmother Phoebe Truslow Webber, and three brothers, Hubert A. Webber, Ralph G. Webber, and James A. Webber. Mr. Webber was a member of the Widow's Sons Lodge No. 60, of Charlottesville. There will be no funeral service as Mr. Webber has requested that his remains be donated to the Anatomical Division, Va. Department of Health, bequeathed to the University of Virginia Hospital for research. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Salvation Army, 207 Ridge Street, Charlottesville, Va. or spend quality time by visiting with the sick and infirmed. There will be a Celebration of Life, where the family will receive friends at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, Monday, December 29, 2003, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Hill & Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
