Tampa, Florida, Hillsborough County, Monday, October 15, 2007.
Dr. Thomas Hancock Garth, M.D. formerly of Tampa died Friday, October 12, 2007 
at His home in Maryland. Born 1921 on the family farm in Charlottesville, 
Virginia. Served as Chief of the Dept. of Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in 
Tampa, Fl. from 1973-1987 and also served as Chief of Staff from 1974-1976. He
was a clinical Professor of surgery at the University of South Florida Medical
School from 1978-1987. Dr. Garth was married to Anne Addison Waddell of 
Charlottesville from 1947 until Her death in 1988 and then to Maria Grimm 
Morrish from 1991 until Her passing in 2006. Survivors: Three Children and their
Spouses: Thomas H. Garth Jr. and His Wife, Kathy of Timberville, Va. John A. 
Garth and His Wife, Allison of Little Silver, N.J. and Eliza H. Garth and Her
Husband, David Froom of St. Mary's County, Maryland. Also survived by His step-
daughter, Elizabeth Ryals and Her Husband, Tom Ryals of Lynn Haven, Fl. and 
and their Daughter and Grandchildren. Hill and Wood Funeral Service in 
Charlottesville, Va. is in charge of arrangements. Funeral service 1pm. Monday,
October 15, 2007 at St. James Chapel, Charlottesville, Va. with interment in 
the family plot immediately following. Donations may be made in Dr. Garth's 
memory to the St. James Chapel, c/o Scott Peyton, P.O. 305, Greenwood, Va.
