Bond:
Know all men by these presents, that we, Hudson Burton and Clifton Garland are 
held and firmly bound unto Ina Fleg??? Esquire, Governor or Chief Magistrate 
of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and his successors in office, in the just and 
full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, current money of Virginia. To which 
payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves jointly and severally, 
firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 2 day of August 
1831.
The Condition of the above obligation is such; that whereas a Marriage is 
shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above bound Hudson 
Burton and Miss Amanda M. Garland of Albemarle COunty. Now if there shall be 
no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be 
void or else to remain in full force and virtue.
