I Elizabeth Anderson of the parish of St. Ann's and County of Albemarle, being of sound mind thanks be to God, for the same, and convinced of the uncertainty of life, do make this my last will and testament as follows. 1st I commend (?) my soul to God who gave it, hoping through the merits of my savior Christ to be made a partaker of the joys of immortality. And as to what temporal Estate, it has pleased God to bestow on me, I give and bequeath the same in the follow g manner. Viz. 2nd I give and bequeath unto my son Edmund Anderson, his heirs and assigns forever the sum of four pounds seventeen shillings and two(?) pence which he received from William Ferrell of Georgia being the amount of a debt due my deceased husband, al my desk. 3rd I give and bequeath unto my son Nathaniel Anderson my negroe woman named Buzzy(?) to him and his heirs forever. 4th I give to my grandson Anderson Barrett my slave named Sanetoll(?) provided he pay to my grandson Samuel Anderson, son of my son Samuel, one hundred pounds when he my said grandson Samuel shall come to the age of twenty one years with legal interest n the said hundred pound to commence and be computed from the time of my death or when he the said Anderson Barrett shall take possession of the said slave Sanetoll(?). If I should think proper to give him possession before my death which said interest request and desire shall be appropriated to the education of my aforesaid grandson Samuel in such manner as my executors shall think proper. 5th I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid grandson Samuel Anderson when he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years the aforesaid one hundred pounds principal with the interest to be appropriated as foresaid but should the aforesaid Samuel Anderson e without lawful issue, before he comes to lawful age, then it is my desire that the above legacy both principal and the interest that may remain unexpended by my executors on his education shall, at the time when he the said Samuel would have been of t s age of twenty one years, be equally divided by my executors among the surviving children of my deceased son Samuel Anderson. 6th I give and bequeath to my grandson William Anderson, son of my son David, when he arrives at lawful age, the sum of twenty pounds with legal interest thereon to be computed from the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and one. This lega is to be paid by my grandson Anderson Barrett or his heirs out of a promisory note I have of his for eighteen pounds but should the aforesaid William Anderson die without lawful issue before he comes of lawful age then the above legacy to be null and v d. In which case I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid grandson Anderson Barrett the above promisory note of eighteen pounds with all interest which may be due thereon. 7th I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Polly Anderson, daughter of my son Thomas and to her heirs forever, the sum of twenty five pounds, leave it discretionary with my executors to apply the money if they think proper for her education. 8th I give and bequeath unto my grandson Anderson Barrett six pewter dishes, two dozen pewter plates, one dozen black walnut chairs, two china bowls, all my glassware also my Bible of the Berkel(?) on the new testament. At the same time I exonerate hi from all claims which I may or might have had against him or his heirs for the live of the slaves which has had or may have of mine in his possession. I also give and bequeath unto Anderson Barrett a negroe girl named Amey(?) (now in his possession) wi all her future increase but should my aforementioned grandson Anderson Barrett die without lawful issue, then it is my wish and desire that the above mentioned Amey and her increase should be equally divided between my two daughters Ann Minor and Sarah udson and their heirs forever. 9th I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Ann Hudson and to her heirs forever my oval looking glass and my Cap.(?) trunk as a memorial. 10th I give and bequeath unto my two daughters Ann Minor and Sarah Hudson and their heirs forever all my books not theretofore disposed of and likewise all my wearing apparel. I give also to my daughter Ann Hudson my flat seal skin trunk. 11th It is my will and desire that whatsoever estate of mine either real or personal not heretofore disposed of should be equally divided among my two daughters Ann Minor and Sarah Hudson and my grandson Anderson Barrett and their heirs forever. It is lso my will that my Estate should not be appraised. 12th Lastly I constitute and appoint my son Nathaniel Anderson and Christopher Hudson both of Albemarle and my grandson Anderson Barrett of Richmond, executors of this my last will and testament. In witness thereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and s l this twenty eighth day of November one thousand eight hundred and three.
