RICHARD SNOW, ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA He served in the Revolutionary War and was at the seige of Yorktown which ended the war. He was active in community affairs and he served as a witness on many of his neighbors deeds and wills. He gave an affadavit for the pension application of his friend Bland Shiflett, stating that he had known Shiflett for fifty years and that they were together at Cornwallis' surrender. At the age of ninety-four, Richard Snow wrote his will. Will of Richard Snow - Albemarle Co. Will Book 18 I, Richard Snow of Albemarle County VA. being old and infirm though of sound mind & memory and wishing to make some provision for my Daughter Agnes Walton who has lived with me and done for me a long time. I hereby give and bequeath to my daughter Agnes Walton a certain tract or parcel of land bounded as follows; beginning at the road where the fork road intersects -------- with (said) fork road through the lane near Richard Snow's house and to a branch near where was a plant patch a year ago. From thence up said branch straight line to Randolph Harris line thence along Harris' line passing his gate and to Elizabeth Salmons line to the road near a place called "the pond" thence with the road to the beginning. The above mentioned tract or parcel of land bounded as above I give and warrant and confirm title to unto my daughter Agness Walton and her heirs forever be the name more or less.- I, Richard Snow also give unto my daughter Agness Walton one negro boy by name of John Wesley which said boy I give un to my daughter Agness Walton and her heirs forever. It is to be understood that I, Richard Snow give the above mentioned tract or parcel of land and negro boy John Wesley on special consideration to my daughter Agness Walton and her heirs which is to be no barr to her full share with the rest of my children both in land and negroes and the balance of my estate. I, Richard Snow wish to provide for my daughter Saluda Coleman. I hereby appoint my neighbor Randolph Harris as trustee to take in hand and to manage for the benefit of my daughter Saluda Coleman the sum of money I herein after leave in his hands to be put to interest for the benefit of my said daughter Saluda Coleman. The said Harris is to let my daughter S. Coleman have the interest and such portion of the principal as in the judgement of said Harris she may from time to time need for the support of herself and family except her husband Thomas Coleman and her son Richard Coleman are not to have any lot or part in the matter. Now I, Richard Snow do hereby give into the hands of Randolph Harris as trustee for the benefit as above mentioned for my daughter Saluda Coleman and her children at her death except her son Richard Coleman is to have no part of it. I give in the hands of Randolph Harris the sum of Nine hundred dollars as trustee for my daughter Saluda Coleman to be paid Harris by my executor or administrator within twelve months from my decease to be raised by the sale of some of my property either Chattles (sic) or negroes. As witness my hand and seal this eighteenth day of February 1848.
