All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Albemarle County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Wills and Estates Lewis THACKER, will, 22 Mar 1872 (1 Jan 1877) [p.] 237 [margin note] Thacker } } } Will Lewis } The last Will and Testament of Lewis Thacker of Albemarle County, State of V.a I, Lewis Thacker considering the uncertainty of this mortal life; and being of Sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following (that is to say): First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife the house in which I reside and a portion of the land for her support; my son Samuel D. Thacker is to see she is taken care of; if he cannot cultivate all the land; he is to rent a portion for my wife's support. and I depend upon_to [sic] see she is taken care of during life Item 2.nd I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Thacker and my two grand children Joseph & Henry Thacker the tract of land on which I reside. My Son Samuel Thacker is to have the house. If either one of my grand son's [sic; underlined] dies without an lawful heir his part of the land shall be his brothers' and if they both die without an heir it is to come back and be equally divided between my children. Also I give my son Samuel Thacker the farming utensils as he is to take care of my wife. Also the farm is to remain undivided until my two grand children come of age. And if they can agree it would be best for one party or the other to sell or bye [underlined] and let the land remain undivided. Item 3.rd I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Ann Pleasants the land on which she resides supposed to be about forty Acres more or less, during her life, then it will be her younger childrens Christopher's & Nancy Pleasants. Item 4.th I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Suddarth forty Acres of land more or less during her life then it shall be her heirs Item 5.th I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ruthy A. Thacker forty Acres of land more or less where she now resides: during her life: then it shall be her heirs. Item 6.th I give and bequeath unto my daughter N. Jane Pugh forty Acres of land more or less: during her life: then it shall be her heirs Item 7.th I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Frances Thacker forty Acres of land during her life, then it shall be her heirs, The land which I have given to my daughters is the land Known as the Teake tract of land Item 8.th I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel D. Thacker one bed and a blue counterpane, Also the red bedstead &c bed is to be my daughter Mary F. Thacker's & the other bed and bedstead is to go to my daughter Ruthy A. Thacker. My daughter Mary F. Thacker is to have a counterpane red and blue, Item 9.th I therefore give my other Three daughters twenty dollars to make them equal with them that I had given my Land [&] furnitue too, if there is enough money [illegible] [illegible] [page break] [p.] 238 but my wife is to share equally with them. I further state that the divisions of my house furniture among my children is to be in the following manner, three articles named they are to haveand the rest of my house furniture is to be sold; and divided equally with all my children (except one bed and bed clothing a chest two chairs which is her dower Also she has two cows: all her own: she has the right do [sic] as she pleases with them. the last named things are my wifes) I want to be understood therefore all this is one. A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Louis Thacker decd, was ["presented" struck through] produced into Court proved by the oaths of Samuel W. Harris & W.A.
