HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The Ervine family (sometimes spelt Irwin, Irvine) were early settlers in the Richpatch. They were permanent residents having acquired land and built, raising a family of one son, Joseph and four daughters, Matilda, Sally, Nancy and Martha. Mr. J.A. He was an elder in the Presbyterian church and a consistent attendant. He was never married, Nancy and Martha, his sisters also lived to be old maids. Four graves with crude markers at the head and foot but no inscriptions: Samuel Ervine d. 1846 His wife, Mary Ervine Joseph Ervine, d. 1892 age approx. 85 One of Samuel and Mary Ervine daughters, are buried here. Mrs. Molly (H.P.) Humphries (85 years old in 1937) and Mrs. Rosa Fridley are authority for saying that Matilda Tinsley is buried here. She died before (about 1 to 2 yrs) In Joseph Ervine’s will, Matilda Tinsley, his sister, is not mentioned. SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informants: Mr. and Mrs. O.L.
