ALLEGHANY COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Fletcher Chapel Cemetery ----€€€---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Fletcher Chapel cemetery: 1937 Aug. 17 Research made by Robert Stover Cemetery Location: 8 miles southwest of Covington, Virginia, on Route #60 Alleghany County OWNERS: Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Callaghan, Va. DESCRIPTION: The cemetery lies immediately behind the church to the north, and covers approximately half an acre, situated on a sloping hill. It is a public burial ground for Callaghan and vicinity; is enclosed by a wire fence and kept in good condition. Some graves of the early settlers here, are unmarked by thombstones or inscriptions. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The Johnsons buried here were of the family of that name living on Johnson’s Creek, and for whom the creek was named. Mrs. Emma V.
