DESCRIPTION: Situated on a knoll some 50 feet or more to the south of highway on Route #618. The said knoll or hill is a foothill of Big or Richpatch Mountain, being on the north side. The former tract of land upon which the cemetery lies is on the headwaters of Blue Spring Run. The cemetery is about one-fifth mile to the northeast of the farm house of the late Mrs. Emma S. Arrington. This is a private burial ground with only four graves, the last one buried was Emeline Susan Arrington. It is in excellent condition. Every grave is marked with a commendable tombstone. The interior is well kept. It is enclosed by a substantial fence, nine feet high, with iron posts. The wire is of the lawn type, not field wire type used to fence farm or pasture land. There is a practically new wire and iron gate, which is situated on the south side of enclosure. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: From the graveyard an open view may be had of historic Nichols or Nicholas Knob, the foot of which is one and one-half miles to the west. Near the foot of Nichols Knob on the waters of Blue Spring Run, Jacob Persinger and wife were captured by the Indians. On the next high hill to the east about one-fourth mile distant is Jamison-Simmons Cemetery, the largest public cemetery in the Richpatch and the oldest in that section of the Richpatch. Peline Wolfe, the daughter-in-law of Isaac Wolfe, is buried on another knoll or high hill across the highway to the north on the land of William Sullender. She died 1887 Approx. 75 yrs. of age. There is no tombstone or enclosure, the grave is in an open pasture field. Isaac Wolfe was a respectable citizen and a good farmer. He acquired some 500 acres of land in the Richpatch. In the year, 1825, Isaac Wolfe purchased 63 acres of land in the Richpatch on the waters of Blue Spring Run from William Johnson and wife, Susannah Johnson, the same patented by Eve Johnson in 1793, (this is same Johnson family that settled on Potts Creek) for $200.00. Deed Book 1, p. 177. Isaac Wolfe died in an old log house located near the foot on Nichols Knob on the east side of Blue Spring Run. The log house is still standing and is about one hundred years old. Isaac Wolfe’s daughter, Mrs. Renda Weiss, went to school in the Simmons log schoolhouse on Blue Spring Run near the east end of Nichol’s Knob. Isaac Wolfe was a brother to Abraham Wolfe, who is buried in the Jamison or Wolfe-Jamison graveyard on the south of Nichol’s Knob on the “Divide” near Craig County.
