Estate Records of Abiram Meador (a/k/a Abraham Meador), 1815 Amelia County, Virginia Court Order Book 29, Page 244 December Court 1815 At a court of monthly sessions begun and held for the County of Amelia at the Courthouse on Thursday the twenty eighth day of December one thousand eight hundred and fifteen ( Joshua Chaffin Bt Randolph ) Present ( Dabney Miller and Rodephil Jeter ) Gent Justices William Smith produced evidence as hawkers and sellers of goods and merchandize of foreign growth or manufacture from the clerk of Buckingham County to expire the first day of May next - he has to leave to sell in this County until that day. William Meador, brother of Abiram Meador, dec’d, John M. Smithey and Maanah his wife sister of said Abirim, J. Atkinson, and Elizabeth his wife sister of said Abirim, William Burton and Nancy his wife another sister of said Abirim Meador, Wm. Noble, Ben Noble and Polly Noble infant children of Oney Noble another sister of Abirim Meador, Fanny and Patsy Meador infant children of Thomas Meador dec’d brother of Abiraram Meador, which infants sue by William Rowton their next friend. . . . Complainants Against In Chancery Leroy Meador, Ben Meador and Hezekiah Meador brothers of the half blood of Abiram Meador. . . . Defendants The court this day came on to be heard by comment and was argued by counsel whereupon the Court doth adjudge order and decree that the slaves belonging to distribution of Abiram Meador dec’d be sold on 12 months credit to the highest bidder, this time and place of sale being previously ascertained at the most public places in the neighbour hoods ten days before the sale,; and that bond and undoubted security be taken of the purchaser and purchasers which bonds are to be returned to this court subject to its further orders, and it is further decreed that the money arising from the collection of said bonds be divided into fifteen parts and than William Meador receive 2 of said parts, John Smithey and Maanah his wife two said parts, Jer. Atkinson and Elizabeth two parts, William Burton and Nancy his wife two parts, William Noble, Ben Noble and Polly Noble infant children of Oney Noble two parts to be equally divided between them, Fany and Patsy Meador infant children of Thomas Meador one part each, and the defendants Leroy Meador, Ben Meador and H. Meador one of the other three parts and Rodephil Jeter , Allen Jeter, Moses Overton, Hemdon Green and Dabney Miller or any three of them as appointed commissioners to carry this decree into effect and that they make report thereof this Court in order to a final decree.
