The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************ P. 232 Amelia County VA Deed Book 17, p 232 This Indenture made the Ninth day of July in the Year of Our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty five Between Bowler & Jane Hall of the Parish of Nottoway in the County of Amelia, their Heirs, Executors, Administrators & Assigns on the one part, and John Blankinship of the aforesaid parish and County, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators, & assigns of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Bowler & Jane Hall, their heirs & for and in Consideration of the sum of one Hundred and Fifty pounds specie paid as following: fifty pounds to him in hand, the Remaining one Hundred pounds to be paid at Christmas one thousand seven Hundred & eighty five paid by the said John Blankinship the Receipt thereof he doth dully acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and Sold and the said Bowler and Jane Hall for themselves & their heirs doth by these presents grant, bargain, sell, release __ of and confirm to the said John Blankinship his Heirs & assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing one Hundred acres be the same more or less, Situate lying and being in the parish Nottoway and County of Amelia bounded as follows. Vez: beginning at a pine in the old line near a small branch thence New line North six poles East 68 poles to pointers North 46 1/2 poles west 198 poles to a white Oak in Bradshaw's line, thence along Gooches's line south 6 1/2 poles East 110 poles to Pointers thence along Tanner's line South 62 poles East 140 poles to the first station, it being the Tract or parcel of Land aforsaid Bowler & Jane Hall received of John Hall their Father, who purchased it of Nathaniel Robertson. Bowler Hall (SEAL) Jane Hall To have and to hold the above Granted Land and premises with all and every its appurtenances unto the said John Blankinship, his heirs & assigns forever and the said Bowler and Jane Hall their Heirs, Executors, Administrators and assigns doth covenant and agree with the said John Blankinship that they the said Bowler & Jane Hall will grant and forever defend the aforesaid granted Land & premises with all its appertances unto the said John Blankinship, his heirs and assigns forever against them the said Bowler and Jane Hall their heirs & from the claims of any person or persons whatsoever in Witnesseth of the said Bowler and Jane Hall hath to these presents set their Hand and their Seal the day and year first above written. Signed, Sealed, acknowledged and delivered In the Presence of George Miller Witness William Phillips John Baldwin Memorandum that the day and year in the written full and peaceful possession and seized of the within mentioned Land and premises was given & delivered by the within named Bowler & Jane Hall is the wish mentioned John Blankinship agreeable to full intent and meaning of this deed in presence of-- At a Court held for Amelia County 26th July 1785 This Indenture was proved by the oath of three Witnessess thereunto named and Jane Hall, wife of Bowler Relinquishes her rights of Dower and ordered to be recorded.
