MEADE TO JOHN LANE AMELIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA MAY COURT 1810 DEED BOOK NUMBER 23 PAGE 62 This indenture made this 12th day of May in the year of Christ one thousand eight hundred and nine between Richard E. Meade and Frances C. his wife of the county of Amelia of the one part and John Lane of said county of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Richard E. Meade and Francis C. his wife for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand one hundred and seventy dollars current money to each of them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby by them acknowledged have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Lane one certain tract or parcel of land containing three hundred and fifty two acres lying and being in the said county of Amelia and bounded as follows to wit, beginning on the road leading from Grub Hill Church to Genito at the lower corner of the land now possessed by Ms. Mary Meade, thence south seventy eight and one half degrees east twenty and one half poles to an old stump at Featherston's corner in the branch, thence along Featherston's line south eighty five degrees east to hundred fifty one poles to a marked tree, a corner on Featherston's, thence north eighteen degrees east fifty eight poles to a corner at a small read oak (blazed), thence to a red oak tree at nearest part of the road (to said last mentioned corner) leading from Cassel's Store to Genito it being the tree nearest the road and newly marked, thence along the road as it meanders to the said beginning. To have and to hold the said tract of land with all and singular its appurtenances unto the said Lane to his only proper use thereof and his heirs forever and the said Richard E. Meade doth hereby for himself and his heirs executors and administrators covenant and agree with said John Lane his heirs and assigns that he the said Richard E. Meade and his wife now are lawfully and rightfully seized of the said tract of land and he and his wife have full power and lawful authority to grant, bargain, sell and convey in fee simple the said tract of land and all and singular its appurtenances unto said Lane his heirs and assigns and the said Richard E. Meade and wife do jointly and severally covenant and agree for themselves and their heirs to and with said John Lane and his heirs and assigns that they will the title to said tract of land in fee simple unto the said Land in fee simple and his heirs and assigns against the claim and demand all and every person or persons whatsoever and proper writing for securing a title to said tract of land to said Lane, his heirs and assigns. FEATHERSTON AMELIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA MARCH COURT 1810 DEED BOOK NUMBER 23 PAGE 175 This indenture made this 19th day of December 1809 between Richard E. Meade of the county of Amelia of the one part and Charles H. Featherston of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Meade for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and ninety three dollars and sixty cents to him in hand paid by the said Featherston before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain unto the said Featherston one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the county of Amelia containing fifty three acres, bounded as follows. To wit, beginning at a small black oak (blazed) on John Lane's line thence north seventy four degrees east two hundred and sixteen poles to Genito Road to the lands of James Robertson Senior and the land belonging to the estate of Edward Bass thence up said road as it meanders to a black oak tree newly marked where the said Lane's land corners thence a direct line to the beginning. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land containing fifty-three acres to the said Featherston and his heirs forever. And the said Richard E. Meade doth hereby covenant and agree for himself and his heirs to and with the said Charles H. Featherston and his heirs that he the said Meade the title to the said tract of land fee simple against the claim or demand of all person and every person unto said Featherston and his heirs and assigns forever will warrant and fully defend. And said Meade doth also covenant and agree for himself and his heirs with said Featherston that he said Meade will execute any other or farther deed or writing that may necessary to secure or preserve the title to said land in fee to said Featherston and his heirs. MEADE AND WIFE TO THEODORE BANISTER AMELIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA MAY COURT 1811 DEED BOOK NUMBER 23 PAGE 488 This indenture made this 11th day of October in the year of Christ one thousand eight hundred and eleven between Richard E. Mead and his wife of the county of Amelia of the one part and Doctor Theodore Banister of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Richard E. Meade and his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eleven hundred and twenty pounds cash money to the said Meade by the said Banister paid and satisfied before the sealing and delivering of these presents have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Banister one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Amelia and containing by a late survey three hundred and seventy four acres and bounded as follows to wit beginning at a hickory on a branch thence S 20 degrees W 108 poles to a corner pine thence S 48 degrees W 100 poles to a corner at some small popular thence by a line S 46 W to a corner on William B. Giles line thence on Giles line to another corner thence S 48 degrees W 124 poles to a corner on Brookings line thence on Brookings line to a corner on the branch thence down said branch as it meanders to the beginning it being the land conveyed by Thomas J. Bolling to said Meade by deed bearing date 2nd December eighteen hundred and nine and recorded in Amelia court. To have and to hold the said tract of land with all and singular its appurtenances unto the said Banister his heirs and assigns forever and the said Meade and Francis C Meade his wife do hereby for themselves and their heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally covenant and agree with said Banister that they the fee simple title to the said tract of land unto the said Bainster his heirs or assigns against the claim or demand of all and every person or persons shall and will forever warrant and defend. SMITHEY AMELIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA JANUARY COURT 1814 DEED BOOK NUMBER 23 This indenture made this ninth day of November one thousand eight hundred and thirteen between Abiram Meador of Amelia county of the one part and William B. Smithey of the said county of the other part witnesseth that the said Abiram Meador hath given granted bargained and sold unto the said William B. Smithey one spotted Friday horse for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar but more especially for the natural love and affection which I have for my nephew William B. Smithey. To have and to hold in fee simple after the said William B. Smithey shall arrive to the age of twenty one years, nevertheless reserving to myself the right of holding the said horse in trust for the benefit of the said William B. Smithey until the said William B. Smithey shall arrive unto the age of twenty one years and reserving further the right of giving or disposing of the said horse to any other person or persons whatsoever in case the said William B. Smithey should not live to the age of twenty one years. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year above written. Abiram Meador (seal) William B.
