Amelia County, VA 400 Acres, Land Grant, 29 May 1760 George the Second &c. To all Know ye that for diverse good cause and consideration but more especially for and inconsideration of the sum of Forty Shillings of good and Lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia we have given granted and confirmed & by these presents for us our Heirs and Successors do give grant and confim unto John Ellis Junior one certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing four hundred acres lying and being in the County of Amelia on the head Branches of Whetstone Creek in the fork of Nottoway and bounded as followeth. to wit, Beginning at Tabbs corner Hiccory at the head of a Branch thence along his lines South forty Degrees West ninety eight Poles to his corner Poplar on a Branch thence down the said Branch as it Meanders to the Mouth thereof thence along his Fathers lines West twenty five Degrees North One hundred and thirty nine Poles to his corner white oak thence North one hundred and twenty Poles to Bollings corner Red Oak, thence along Major Watter’s line East two Degrees Soujth sixty six Poles to his corner thence North twenty six Degrees East one hundred and fourteen Poles to his corner White Oakthence North nine Degrees West twenty Poles to a corner in his line thence East ten Degrees North ninety five Poles to Yarbrough’s line, thence along his line East thirty eight Degrees, South seventy six Poles to his corner, thence East forty two Degrees North sixty eight Poles to a corner, thence South East one hundred and twenty nine poles to a corner hickory thence South thirty Degrees West ninety six Poles to a faced Corner thence West seventy two Poles to a corner white Oak on a Branch, thence up the Branch as it Meanders to the Beginning.
